Greetings from Czechia! Slovenian is a beautiful language and it's actually quite similar to Czech! We can understand a lot. And Slovenia is a tremendously gorgeous country ❤️
I'm Serbian and I can understand Slovenian. I just wanna say that Slovenian is the most beautiful south Slavic language. I've been studying slovenian for 4 months and I really like it
@@Vaniego. I was studying at my university. My mother language is Serbian so it wasn't really hard for me to learn Slovene😁
@@nixymax Well yeah after all both of you come from the slavic branch, I want to learn Slovenian too, I know a very very little amount of russian and that probably will sort of help me, I am Armenian, by the way
@@Vaniego. Hmm, russian would help you for sure. For example, declension of nouns are similar, etc... Start with an alphabet, learn how to write and read, listen to music, videos. If you have a lot of free time, take some time and improve that and later you can start with grammar😁
Btw greetings for Armenia, we love you!
@@nixymax hvala! 🇷🇸🇦🇲
I am very aware about how similar russian is to other slavic languages
i only know a few examples in slovene
moj = Мои
Это = Το
kak si = kak dila
I think If I want to learn any slavic languages I think Russian is a must do to make it easier for other slavic languages
My gf is Slovene and I'm trying to learn a little so I can carry on a conversation with her in Slovene, and this helped. Hvala!
I'm Polish and find Slovene language really beautiful. When written is quite similar but when you speak not quite.
It's a really beautiful language! Also some words in Slovenian sound very similar to Serbian/Croatian
Its a Slav language. Just like Russian, Polish, or Czech (my language). We all have similar languages. Its honestly the best thing ever xd
Im from spain and this really helps :)
Thanks a lot, really! I'm Hungarian but I live in Italy right now, so I cross your beautiful country by car, every months or so. I wanted to pick up just the basics to at least be able to say "hello" and "thank you" at the gas station. So great, thanks again and good luck with your channel!
I love this comment sections. I am an English speaker but it fills my heart with warmth to see so many people of different nations learning about each other and discovering how our differences are special.
We are more alike than we are different, and the ways that are different are what make us special.
I love how Slovenes say “Adijo” for goodbye and in Spanish we say “Adios” and they both sound very similar. I have some advantage!
we borrowed some words from italian witch is simillar to spanish the correct slovene word for goodybe would be "nasvidenje" its like how english have some french words
Thank you for these! My friend is from Slovenia and I wanna surprise her with some words!
I am a proud slovenian but my first language is English, I'm developing on my slovenian tho
Very interesting video,I am from a neighboring country,Italy, here in Italy there is a Slovenian minority,so it’s nice to learn some of your language,I also know some Russian and Polish so I’m already familiar with Slavic languages.Keep making videos like this I really appreciate them!!!
Greetings from Poland. I love Slovenian it is so cute and soft and full of melody.
I wanna study in Slovenia someday, so I better learn it :)
The language sounds awesome :D
Boa sorte!
Hi hello brain Griffin
I make a new movie if you are interested
I'm from Israel and I'm not Slovenian I'm Jewish

Zivjo Tjasa, dober dan from America. Thanks for the lessons. Trying to get better at sloven.
Thank you so much for this video! It's really helpful :) I just moved to Ljubljana, from the Netherlands. I really want to learn Slovenian. Also, your other videos are cool as well!
thank you for making this video! my mom and grandma and great grandma and so on are all from slovenia but my mom doesnt know slovenian anymore. we are trying to learn because we are trying to get citizenship for me & her (my mom was born in slovenia when it was part of yugoslavia). we love slovenia & my mom misses it so this video helps me learn!
thank you so much!!
Hvala lepa! (i hope it is spelled correctly for i am quite new to this beautiful language, this video helped me a lot!)
Thank im from slovenije and im glead you wanna learn slovinien 😀😀😀 (hej kako si in iz katere države si pa ti)
Thank you so much! My dad is slovenian and i’m trying to learn it too, but he doesn’t know how to teach me. Can u make another video on lesrning slovenian please?
I'm glad you like the video! And as for more videos regarding this topic, I do plan to post more videos about the Slovene language in the series Slovene 101. I just recently posted a video about the history and the development of the language, so if you are interested in that you can check that out. Also in the following weeks I will be posting more videos on the topic of the Slovenian language.
Thanks again for watching :D
Vrlo lepo, nadam se da možete razumeti šta vam govorim, na mom jeziku? Ako razumete, čestitam!
i am from moscow but for me that was very interesting get to know about slovenian language - thank you
A friend of mine lives in Slovenia and I really want to impress him by learning Slovenian.
I love this because I want to learn Slovenian like the rest of my extended family knows. I am Slovenian and my part of the family moved away from everyone else. So when they went to Slovenian catholic school to learn Slovenian language, my mom didn’t. I would like to show my family that I can learn it like them
is it ok to start speaking english to people in shops etc, or should i ask 'do you speak english' every time? i guess they will know i'm foreign if i just say 'hello' each time i meet someone haha
I think it is polite to somehow start the conversation, not just straight up ask a question. So either be it "Hello, can I ask you something?" / "Hi, do you speak English?" ... something of the sorts. It is not necessary but I think it is more polite. Also depends on the situation.
In 0:55 that words means in Arabic something very important to female body
She didn't even say kje si. She said kisi. The most normal pronounciation would be ke si. Anyway not many people say hello in this way.
Moj dragi sent me this YT link. I'm a Filipino and trying to learn the language and I love it. 🥰 Hvala!
Thanks For Basics....it's very easily understanding
Dobro jutro is until 12 am only if you are a lazy person.. otherwise it's just dober dan after 8/9 am.. and until dark.. when it's dober večer...
Thanks a lot, really. It's lovely hearing the causal setting at full speed, Slovenian-ly pronounced!
Happy to find someone teaching this language... but please slow down and repeat the words. I felt that most of the words were just slurred through once.
My mom’s side of the family is from Slovenia. All the older people spoke the language but I never learned how to speak it. This might help.
Oh pls make more clips and slowly😍i need to learn sloveniann cuz of my bf,i really nee u🥰
Im slovenian. I love my country!
Hi! Isn't Vse najboljse "all the best?" logically? I am an Albanian and I'm trying to learn Slovenian however I am confused regarding happy birthday greetings. Isn't there any other word as Sreçni rodjendan or else?
Vse najboljše does literally mean “All the best”, but in Slovenia we only use this expression. And it is usually not used in other situations, it is only used for wishing someone a happy birthday. 😄
My native language is Spanish and I found interesting that we have a word we use in the same way as "na zdravje". We say "salud" for cheers and to say "bless you!".
Great video, it's really helpful although there was so many information and so fast! If you could pronounce the words slowly it would be perfect. The different dialects part is something I've read in many sites and it's honesty scary... Thank you very much, Tjaša! By the way, I may start studying Slovene this year and the native spearker proffessor I'd have has the same name as you :D
Thank you soo much 😄 I will try in the following videos to pronounce things more slowly. 😊
The dialects might sound scary. But also while I was in Spain, the people in the village that I stayed in, supposedly didn’t have the same accent as the ones living in Madrid. But I personally never noticed that. So maybe it’s the same with Slovene. 🤷🏼♀️
And Tjaša is actually a pretty common name here so you might encounter many more. 😂
As for the interesting fact about "na zdravje" and "salud," I speak a little spanish and slovenian as well and I think that both this words are even based on the same meaning - something that means "health" or "with health".. Na zdravje would be translated exactly like "for health" and "salud" like "health", am I right? :)
thank you! native speakers are so quick!
This is good because I'm chatting with a Slovenian lady on a dating site she speaks English but it's good to learn Slovenian
Hej thanks for the video. I truly appreciate your help with Slovenia / Sloven ...
my grandmother is slovenian so i’ve been trying to learn more about the language and culture. i already know both english and french. and i know a bit of spanish as well. any tips?
yes, I agree !! Slow down !!
It’s beautiful language but need to practice everyday
Thanks for sharing with us ❤️
I from marocco. I live in slovinia. Ljubana
Ja sam iz Bosne i možda ću studirati u Sloveniji!
I am from Bosnia and i might study in Slovenia!
Thanks for the video. I have a lot of family with Slovenian heritage around Cleveland in the USA and was interested to know more :)
Give some details about the admission of international children to schools
Hey! Great video, i just have one question.. if i want to say 31. Is it correct in slovenian to say "ena in trideset"?
Slow down
It was fine for me Maurice - if you really need to slow it down just change the playback speed
That's not how language learning works. When someone speaks at speed they slur words and sounds. When you're starting out teaching someone a language, you need to slow down and enunciate. Gradually, as the basics are established, you can pick up the speed and begin to speak more naturally. Slowing the playback will cause sloppy pronunciation
It is the same in russian language?cos is like the same.i know few basics in russian language.
It is similar but it has many diffrent words and alphabet is totaly different but in pronunciation is pretty much the same
OMG I'm Bulgarian and it's basically 80% the same language, only the alphabet is Cyrillic :) PS. You are super cute! ;)
Can I say something like "hej kje si?" or does it sound like a "hi hi"
may you offer a free textbook for us to learn from it as well?
I m planning a motorbike trip in Slovenia, do locals understand Russian ? I see Slovenian is pretty similar. Greatings from France
sadly most people here don't understand russian. english is taught at all schools so that is the best option
I have cousins in Slovenia and this is great to learn so you can talk with them . Pozdrav iz Hrvaške !
Thank you.
I'm ready to Bled now
You know when i watch these Vidio am really like and you teacher not make bored me cause you are beautiful 😘😍
Don't slow down. I need to hear it at full speed and you're the only person who recites basic phrases at full/casual speed. Every other one makes things sound totally different.
May I ask if you study Slovene?
Hi do you have any Slovenian movies, tv series or podcast recommendations?
Movies:
Sreča na vrvici
Gremo mi po svoje
Poletje v školjki
Pr’ Hostar
Series:
Naša mala klinika (NMK)
TV Dober dan
Pod eno streho
Most of these are a bit old but I haven’t watched Slovene movies or series in a while so I wouldn’t know for the newer ones. 😄
Tjasa Grabnar would they happen to have subtitles for English? It’s for a beginner level student
Elaine Maala I really wouldn’t know for sure but I think they all should have English subtitles but I also don’t know where can you find it with subtitles... Sorry 😕
wow, your logic of number system is very similar to danish, but looks simple than them
I'm Moroccan 🇲🇦 trying to learn this beautiful language
Next can you do Slovene names like amadej I don't know how to say it because one of my friends names from Slovene is named that
Slight accent? I was in Slovenia and as I was going through Ljubljana - as Slovakian I understood if not everything, than big amount of what was said... But when I reached Portorož I was lost. I thought, that everyone around me speaks Italian. 😃 So I believe, that even for you it is hard to understand.
Btw., I like your country, you are really nice people... I hope this corona-thing will soon disappear and I will can visit Slovenia again. ☺
hola estoy inclinándome en aprender el idioma esloveno soy de lengua materna español como puedes ver, aunque domino también el ingles. Hablas español?
Dobro jutro ends at 10AM, Dober večer starts at 6PM (that was right), and Dober večer starts at 5AM, I can confirm it as an 100% slovene

Also Slovenia is one of the most beautiful countries,we have fresh air,we recycle and honestly the food, and people are really nice here,so stfu
This is some great content. I really wish there was an app to help learn Slovenian, but sadly there probably just isn't a big enough market.
Please I m waiting for other lessons a complete course thanks
how to start learning Slovenian language?
Maybe take my videos about the language as a sort of introduction to it and then search for some websites about it or books which can help you learn it. 😄
Slovenia heart belongs to Brazil.
Incredible video. Thank u so much
You should do a series where you teach the words you probably shouldn't use in public. For example filthy frank's Japanese 101.
Zivjo, would you like to learn italian language some day?😄 it's a beautiful language like Slovenian too.
Bye, regards from Italy🇮🇹
I don't think I will ever learn Italian, just because I think it's too similar to Spanish, which I'm already learning. Right now I'm putting my efforts in Korean and then next on my “wish list“ are French and Chinese. :D
Love the content!
I just noticed does your J sometimes pronounced as Y?
I’m only here because I never knew this country existed until now a number from Solvenia called me and I was like tf is Solvenia and then I looked up and I was like oooooooh
Thanks for making a video ❤
I am from India living in Slovenia I am facing language in work premises. Help full video
ahhhhh super video!
Pozdrav iz Bosne ❤️🇸🇮🇧🇦💙
This helps me a lot pleas, continue
So everybody use ja and da no one? Why?
You usually use it in writing, but in conversations you usually use casual words with friends, family co-workers etc. Also da is less grammatically correct so ye
Wow. Ok.. This is going to be harder than I thought. Met a girl named katja from Slovenia. Thought id impress her by speaking to her in her original language. Not going to be as easy as I thought. Lol
hey im new here but i like to learn with you. how can contact you
Reminds me a little bit the serbian and romanian language, very interesting, greetings from Chile 🇨🇱
Жаль, что канал заброшен и только один урок. 😢 хотелось бы выучить язык: он не только очень красивый, но и схож с русским.
Živjo! Thank you for this video! Hvala 😊.
As others said, I would like to hear the pronounced slowlier (as you just did in the tongue twister video, it was great).
I would be interested in learning phrases for an unformal conversation (for example saying I'm good, I'm tired, I'm hungry, that sort of things).
Also, is there a difference if the speaker is male or female? Or when the speaker addresses to one, two or more people (I read about the dual mode). Čau !
Thanks for all the suggestions. The problem with me doing the phrases for informal conversation is that I speak the Ljubljana dialect which means all of them would be in that dialect and it may vary from other parts of Slovenia. So I wasn’t sure how to go about that.
And also for the second part of your questions I think I briefly explained dual and the differences if your talking to a male or female in my What makes Slovenian One Of The Most Difficult Languages To Learn video. So go check that out and I hope it helps, if you still have further questions just ask 😄😄
Thanks for the comment 😄
Tjasa Grabnar Thank you for your answer. ☺️ If we learn phrases of the Ljubljana dialect, do you think we might not be understood elsewhere?
I'll check your other video. Hvala!
Kori2706 I think the problem is not that you will not be understood, it’s more of that you can get confused by their way of speaking. Because their dialect has a different accent and slang expressions. 🙂
I'm french with slovenian origins and i'm trying to learn how to sounds slovenian ! Even the "r" is difficult to Say for me lmao
It is, isn't it? I've noticed that with English and Slovene, in Slo. you would say like a normal 'r' but in Eng. it's 'ar' so yea.
Good luck.
Could you a little bit slow when u say some words in slovenian please!
Hola, que tal?, como van?,
Los mejores y más cordiales Saludos desde puente piedra, lima, Perú, ojalá que puedas venir en algún momento a mi país y que disfrutes mucho de todo por aquí, con la familia y los amigos, felicidades por tus vídeos...

Hi, I am from India. How hard is it for me to learn Slovenian? I mean how many months before i can actually write it?
PS: I have to learn it, anyhow.
Thanks for making such great videos! 💙
Ok im Hrvat so its very easy for me to learn Slovenish. Only some speak issues
Good content, but please slow down and repeat the pronunciation. Thank you.
Thanks! I’ll be more careful next time of the things you pointed out.
kmk65 yeah that’s what I was about to comment 😂
yes, difficult to understand when spoken so quickly.
You can always change the speed in the settings.
That's how they talk though.
