As an A7M enjoyer I can confirm that this definitely does not outturn my A7M, unless I'm going way too fast and turn into a V1 flying bomb.
Agreed. I used to fight P59s in rb squad battles all the time in my A7M and I could kill them 100% by getting them to commit to a maneuvering duel of any kind.

i own and use the p59 every now and then and I find using the weapon selection to pick mgs or 37 makes the guns way easier to use and it also extends how much ammo you get
Lots of planes benefit from this, most of the time people are too lazy to swap back and forth as needed😅
Just bind the guns to diff keys so you don't have to fumble with switching

Unfortunately it isn't that easy all the time. For instance you're not going to key bind to your keyboard cause that's just impractical for shooting.
So let's says it's the standard LHS MMB, my original mouse was good for MGs and the like bound to the MMB but my new mouse is a bit too solid for it. I can do it, I just don't prefer it, especially now that I'm back using scroll for power settings.
The other issue is planes with lots of guns, Squadron 262 for instance. Sometimes you don't want to fire everything so it's nice to have the built in system.
Sometimes I'll have the menu ready to what I want then I'll exit it and then I'm on button away to what I preset.
Yeah I've set it up to scroll through weapons with the mouse scroll wheel, really simplified a lot of keybinds. Scrolling up cycles through primary weapons (MG's, Cannons, etc) and scrolling down cycles through secondaries (missiles, rockets, bombs). Then its just left mouse buttons fires primaries, right mouse buttons fires/drops secondaries)

I noticed nobody climbs anymore recently when I was playing props and I have to say the game is a lot less fun now that the new players have the “take a head on and get one kill (maybe)” mentality because they’re too scared to spend a bunch of time climbing and lose an actual dogfight
Yup, this is why I primarily play Russian props. By far the best at low altitude chaotic dogfights
Lots of people just don't enjoy having to learn high-altitude dogfighting whilst always being punished with a repair cost and another 5 minutes of queueing and climbing again

This plane brings back nightmares when it came out. You faced this on your prop fighter, couldnt escape it and it out turned everything. Havent played in a while though.

The air belt having a random AP round really sucks.
Lots of the P-39s and P-63s, especilly in the soviet tree, are like that. It really really hurts a gun thats kinda okay to begin with.
I love using this plane in ground battles with the ground targets belt for the cannon. Plus you only need to take minimum fuel so it turns on a dime more so than with more fuel
I main this thing for anti cas at its BR and have repeatedly looked like a complete oaf whiffing a bunch of shots, glad to know that the difficulty aiming isn't an only me issue.

I really wish I had been playing when the P-59 came out. I love the idea of a lower BR jet, whether it's good or not, and it's just a pretty plane design. If only it wasn't like, $200 to get.

Just an absolutely insane thing to put at that BR. Lots of fun but it felt dirty to fly. Glad it did go up in BR (should go up more tho)
The biggest issue with it being at 5.7 is that now it mostly gets into 6.0+ games that are 8 vs 8 with 4x JU288s. Those battles are incredibly lame and are the reason I basically don't fly ANY plane around the 6.0 BR anymore :(

Im STILL peeved about being told way back in 2019 to "just out turn it lmao" i was a noob back then and hadnt even heard the term "energy retention" so i was like "oh ok ill just get a energy advantage and i should be able to stall him out by turning. I fought several p59s, nothing worked, the only time i killed them was in a head-on and i got lucky, or if they were distracted.

The most expensive planes in the game are the Spitfire F Mk.1 IX c and the AU-1 Corsair these 2 out monetize the P-59A but the P-59A has been quite high and the same with Bongs P38 and that Russian low BR I-29 and that German Bf 109 E7/U2 they get pretty high up in price and usually more than the P-59A for some reason oddly enough.
this plane does finally see planes that can beat it in speed but when it was at the lower BR it was pretty powerful ngl. I have pretty much been getting up-tiered in this jet more than I'd like but anything you pretty much play you just get up-tiered a majority of your games in WT.
I don't blame that Re. at the end for going to airfield to leave, I wouldn't want to fight the P-59 either, and he didn't seem to camp. Seems he just wanted to land and leave instead of fighting a p-59 at low alt with similar energy states which is somewhat suicidal.

when i saw an P-59 it become my first priority over every other player. That plane is scary AF. i have faced it with zeros and yes it cannot out turn it but, they can arguably turn at almost same rate with high speed and if u are not carfull well.... he is gonna end on your 6 (hopefully i now how to deal with them so i got never killed by one)

I still stand by my thoughts that this thing has the old EE Canberra FM for it's ability to turnfight most things but is poor to gain speed or go vertically yet at least both are still known for their abilities to turnfight nearly everything.
Speaking of the Canberra bomber the US model B-57B is getting it's 20 mm armament so that might get your attention in the new update possibly.
The P-59 was based on a prop design. Its FM is about 90% genuine and not a copy of the Canberras. In testing it could beat every prop the USAAC/F had in service in a dogfight.

You definitely get out-climbed by the enemy at the start of the matches in the P59a the thing climbs like it has a lump of shit stuck in its exhaust pipe blocking it. But I remember doing the marks of distinction for this thing back damn been like 5 years or 6 somewhere around there.
this thing is just the horten but better, no fucking way this thing is the same BR as something like a 109 when half of the 7.0 jets are gonna have trouble even getting a shot on this thing

Saw this thing in the tech tree while looking for something to build a line up. I was baffled how this could be 5.3 while my crappy FW 190 D12 known for it's speed turns like a brick.

When they moved it up the only thing that bothered me was the fact that they still haven't at the very least finished the goddamn plane. Its useless outside of Air.
I use it for air superiority to shred hordes of unaware CAS players. I'd call that useful.

yeah, gone are the days of everyone climbing to optimal altitude, all of that changed when matches went from an hour to 25 minutes (needed change tbh) but it is less fun imo, as boring as climbing was the fights from having advantage in height was fun

I love flying this thing when i can get an actual match. 90% of the time i fly this out i get to fight fucking 288 bots. And like maybe 1 or 2 190s or 109s. Another problem I've experienced with the p59 is that it doesnt take damage well at all. So if someone manages to get guns on your flight performance dies even if you survive.

use ur cruise speed to energy trap people. dive out, if they get on your six (try to not give up all altitude, you just want to get your speed up, and the enemy speed in an area, where they waste energy). repeat.
try lower rank mustang to get a hang on it, its easier, because noobs flying slower planes. at 5.0 there is more competition with player skill and quality of enemy planes.

please play the Seafire MK3 in the French tech tree, im gonna guess it's a copy cat of the British one but I have heard people complain about it being overtiered (ammo count being the biggest reason). I have not used it that much in ARB but I have used it alot in GRB in my french 6.7 lineup and I have been able to dominate CAS planes and fighters alike simply because they make it a turnfight. I might be completely lost here since I don't play alot of prop ARB but I think it can hold up there aswell.

The French Seafire is the exact same as the British one. It is over BRed because of performance alone. It is worse in virtually every metric to the 4.3 F.IX. It doesn't hold up in ARB because it just doesn't have the performance to force a fight or get into an advantageous position against virtually everything it sees unless the opposing player gives it to you.

Honestly the sad part was that it just recently got moved up to 5.7br, it was 5.3br for a long time and it was even more broken. It's still OP, but at least its not mercilessly destroying 4.3br planes.

I faced this thing about 3 times in my life and all i won well not 1 time was in a mig3 no i did not outurn him he just had the inteligence to go head on so i spray him down he killed me but i killed him at the time i was like "what a jet" but now im like "is just a p59" 2nd time was in a yak23 he either sucked at aiming or i was to nimble for him to get me he got kill by a teamate so wouldnt ve cosider that winning 3rd i tap it out of the sky with an i225 is kinda hard to remember if i died to it before because i bearly see it.

From my experience I disagree. I kill A6M5 Kos all the time by simply going horizontal and keeping a bit of speed. So yeah technically it shouldn't work, but for me it usually does.
Also I disagree on the speed, it's super slow to accelerate and in a straight line gets outrun by some props.

It tops out at around 415mph in level flight from the deck up to about 6km. From the deck to ~4km that is faster than virtually every prop it can face. Virtually the only props that can actually outrun the P-59A are American.

@@rangehottv7254 No single engined Russian or German fighter can top 400mph in level flight below 3km. The only overall exception to Russian or German is the 335. Beyond that the only props outside of the US that can are British.
In my 6 years playing i have only fight probably 4 of this plane and 1 win against it i energy trap him on a p 51 d 30
Mind you this thing accelerates faster than an Me 262 and it turns much better. I will never understand why me 262 is 7.0 its unusable.

i think me 262 is somehwat decent in low speed acceleration, so there might be some tactics, that might work well, but i never played it a lot. it should be better in spiral climb then other jets on its BR i guess. maybe you play it a bit like a mig 15bis?

@@maximilianmustermann1278 262 shouldn't be 6.7 for the same reason the 162 shouldn't be 6.0. Neither can be touched by a prop if a good player is flying it and both can dominate said lobby as a result. Yes, the 262 suffers against jets but that issue is mostly down to the massive BR compression going on in jets. It really is the better of two evils to just leave the 262 at 7.0.
@@certaindeath7776 The 262 has very poor low speed accel relative to other jets. Spiral climbing is suicidal against any jet as a result. Against most every jet the 262 has no performance advantage. The few it does have a performance advantage over it is just level flight speed.

I got this plane in suitcase. Seems like hot garbage now. You can't outrun anything that isn't a japanese or maybe russian plane. The weapons are also mediocre with 3x .50 cal, you rely on getting a lucky 37mm hit for kills. Yeah you can 1v1 almost anything in a turnfight except you are then easy food for anyone since the acceleration and climb rate are inexistant. I'd rather fly a zero or a corsair. The corsair can actually outrun anything to get out of danger and is a much better energy fighter with decent armament (6x .50cal) while the zero is a much better dogfighter that doesnt bleed all its energy and climb very well. + 2x20mm hit hard. The p-59 isn't good enough to carry US teams as it relies on getting those 1v1 engagements without getting disturbed. but if you do that, your entire team is dead within 5min.
i have the voucher for this plane, but looking at the yak 3u side by side i feel like the 3u is a better plane. Am i wrong?

@@denbleygv9238 p59 has a higher top speed, higher wing rip speed, and can turn and pull 20x better than the yak3u
@@denbleygv9238 Sub ~3km the only advantages the 3U has are climb rate and low/med speed acceleration. The P-59A holds every other advantage. Above 3km the 3U will eventually go faster but without WEP it's acceleration advantage in low/med speed situations is decreased.
Also for the record don't look at stat cards to compare aircraft. Stat cards are 100% wrong in climb and turn on every aircraft and is wrong in top speed over 25% of the time too.
@@rainsilent aren't most dogfights sub 3km? and you prob need the climb rate and acceleration the most during it. The only testing i did was acceleration and climb rate and the 59a wasn't that great. So in essence i'd have to keep the 59a above 3km and not engage in so many aggressive turn fights?
Is the P59 unfair?
Not really, as someone who owns one and regularly tries to fight them whenever possible: It has a certain playstyle and you can definitely manhandle it into playing the way you want.
It is fast and it can turn, but it can’t do both at the same time. Below 400km/h it turns like a Japanese prop, above 400km/h it operates much the same as many early jets and heavy fighters.
The best way to fight it is to either force a head on or drain the hell out of its energy. Because of those wings and those very early jet engines, it burns energy fast and does not recover it nearly as easily.

@@BARelement at 6.3 you get outrun by turbo props and outturned by them too. At 7.0 the cruising speed for most jets is 600-700. The acceleration and climb for that BR begins to increase significantly outpacing it in position and power.
If you are above it, and you will be above it, you do not commit to any sort of dogfight. Either zoom straight up and away from it or extend in the opposite direction of it to cause it to burn energy in a turn.
