De P-51D-30 Mustang is fast, climbs well and has some good manoeuvrability unfortunately the rudder is pretty wack. This game we won a 2v10 vs a full fighter team.

@@RAAFLightning1 give D28 a try that thing is insane I was fighting two j2ms and I took them to 8k meters, they could not keep up with me that plane is amazing. I mean like I would go into gradual turns and get on their sixes they could do nothing but dive
I feel like between 4.0 and 7.0 the IQ of war thunder players drops cos they just bum rush through the BRs to get to the planes they see in films. 7.0 has some of the most intelligent players imo
@@HeroGenix there seems to be so many bombers in that BR range that press spacebar once on one or two armored cars and then spend the rest of the match climbing into orbit too. Can be very satisfying to hop in a p47 and climb up to arrange a pesky Me264 pilot (or two) a personal meet and greet with John Moses Browning.
The recent Strategist event for example was full of these dribblers climbing to >11,000 metres

This video shows precisely why US teams lose so much, and is a prime example of how superior climbrate is a hilariously easy advantage to leverage compared to superior speed. As you said, all it would have taken to make this match even harder than it already was for you was just one more guy tailing Ripjawz like that G.55 was doing to you. To beat an axis team like this using the common flight characteristics of American fighters is asking way too much patience, discipline, and situational knowledge out of the average team of randoms.
Good thing that American fighters are stuck with larger minimum fuel loads than most other fighters
@@martijn9568 this is why i use p47s and typically take 30+ min fuel so i can just control everything
This is why a brilliant way to rebalance a lot of BRs (minus absolute top tier) would be to spawn people at operational altitude. We could get some really funky and fun scenarios that way, plus climb rate becomes way less impactful. I'd feel bad for soviet props though.
The advantage in speed only works against very bad players, or in squads

Only an idiot picks a fight that he can't win. There is nothing wrong with running/extending from a fight if that is your best move. There are ways to catch a faster plane that is trying to run, but staying on its 6 is definitely not one of them.

And I understand where they are coming from because most people that just extend are running to run.
That's what you do against a fast plane because if you pull away and waster your speed he will go up get energy advantage and bnz you to death
it is called playing smart, even though it might seem boring, sometimes that is the only option

Green's and Adam's stats on the P-51D-30 are hardly above average go simp elsewhere
@@bizabaja2 Not true actually, average KD in P51D30 is 2, and they both have over 4.
So they are well above average, ofc its inaccurate as you have people like DEFYN with KD 10 and people who barely take off in one batch.
Median is the better choice, but i dont know where to get all the data....
The average KD for the P-51D-30 is 3.8 on thunderskill (I know this isn't completely accurate)
The average KB for the P-51D-30 is 2.38
They have 4.6 and 4 KD / 1.8 and 1.1 KB
This is without taking into consideration that they flew it in 3-4 man squads all the time when this plane was a lot better a while ago.
I am not saying they are bad, but their fans having to infect other people's comment sections all the time are extremely annoying. (not limited to them)

I hate flying p51 not becuz the plane is bad (It's actually really powerful) but often you end up fighting against multiple enemies.
You can definitely win the game but you have to extend a lot and regardless of win or lose,
it's such a stressful duration both for me and enemies chasing me.
I'd rather fly better turning props or just jet match. quick, clean and enjoyable games.
I hate it when I'm the only p51 who actually climbs while the rest of my teammates go for the first attacker they see at ground level. It leaves me with all the 109s at altitude.
Who doesn't bro! When you try to fly smart and yet lose the game, it hurts as hell.
As a J2M2 user getting paired consistently with US mains, it’s a pain to see Mustangs and Thunderbolts tryna fight Yaks and Spits on the decks while what’s left of our forces struggles to keep up with them space climbing FW-190s
The P-51H is insane at the moment since it fights Germany 5.7 a lot more often, kinda forgot how dumb it was because of constantly facing hortens and R2Y2s.

P-51H is so painful to fly. Maybe it's because mine is stock but i don't even think a stock D-30 has half the turn radius of that thing.
@@michaelvigil5321 that smost liekly it i remember grinding the P-51H out and it was painful, but the second you get fuel injection, man its like a light switch from bad, to practically overpowered

@@michaelvigil5321 yeah i feel you but once you know how to play and spade it you can do pretty well as long as you dont face hornet, ki96 or spitfire mk24 in props but apart from that you can kill every other prop if you play your cards right
I've uninstalled and reinstalled war thunder about 5 times in the last 2 weeks due to banging my head against the wall with the kind of scenario in this video. That's not meant as an allies are shite meme, but simply almost every match I fly an allied plane above 4.0+, i always find myself on my own when (if) I get to altitude, and consequently i'm always on the defensive, and outnumbered 3:1 or more in every engagement, with axis players that have the altitude, numbers and firepower to do what ever the hell they like (boom and zoom if patient, push headons if not) and I feel like i'm learning nothing by it, and getting frustrated. It's really nice to see this match as a "this is how it can work" scenario. Shame I don't have a ripjawz to rely on. Or defyns skill. I guess. Flipping the coin and playing luftwaffe or italians is most often boring as shite too.
just use p47s, it can do everything the p51 does but better and can be totally independent. all of my p47s have at least a 3:1 KDR and most of the time im outnumbered and alone.

Bro, same thing happening with me. It's driving me nuts. My win percentage with USA in the 4.0-6.7 range is about 17%. 90 percent of the games when I'm flying P-47's or P-51's half my team is dead by the time I hit 5000m, and I'm usually 1 of 3 or even the only one that climbs to altitude. It sucks these are my favorite planes to fly, yet my worst stats.

You liked this match so much? I would have liked it, too. But we can say goodbye to all of those with the 25 min. limit now to all RB Air matches. Sound like a joke, but mostly it's just sad for people who go for RB instead of AB because they like more thinking/strategic matches.
Incredibily done! US fighters tend to rely on teamwork and extending to utilize their speed advantages. It requires patience which most people don’t have, especially in a game.
Good video, it is very enjoyable to watch with the 2 points of view switching from one to another depending on the action. very entertaining.
Hopefully thissituation happened on a snow map cause p51 overheats at some point ^^

Don't know why, i but when i see this version of the P-51, first thing came in my mind is the Soviet Yak-9P (T2-3002) captured by the USAF during the Korea war
Those two extra guns on the p47 make all the difference. With the p51, I often feel like I'm nibbling people to death rather than biting chunks out of them.
also the more horsepower, better high alt performance and better rudder :P

It has a better initial turn but once it goes slow it's dead in a fight where as a D-30 can dogfight anything that isn't Japanese or Italian. But yeah idk why the P-47 kills things so much better like it's only a difference of 2 machine guns🤷♂️

@@stitchjones7134 yeah it's dumb to be going slow but sometimes you got no choice like if you get caught up by the Ta-152 spam and you just can't run or do anything then a P-51 would be better since atleast you can dive and try to out turn.

With today's 25 minute matches, this one would have to be played very different if your goal is to kill the entire enemy team. Have to take more risky chances. Get into situations which are not in your best interest. Or do what you can and hope those two p47's ground pounding ate up enough tickets, so that at the end of the match if everyone on the other team not dead, then win the match on tickets. The 25 minute matches change everything.
If they don't want tedious games where people run when they are outnumbered, they should not play Axis!
I love matches like this. This is what I think of when I think air rb (i.e. people using planes the way they were designed). It really does show just how threatening an ally team can be when they work together.

Its not a mod pack, you custom edit the .lang files in game, you can change it fairly easily.

It's very good but i wish we still had the flight model that didn't have a useless rudder, feels like a Fw190 d-13 without the roll rate.

i know the P51 as a energy fighter is very good when it's above the enemy but the fact is, the Fw/Bf always climb faster, higher then me when i finally get to maybe 3000m, and of course i died. i am having problem on being out climb by German at the start of the game....
But you are faster, so you climb to ok altitude, they go for you, you turn away and get more speed just as shown here.

@@DEFYN you're fortunate to have at least one teammate who wanted to cooperate instead of head on so he can rth and repeat. I don't know if it's cause I haven't played props in a while for rb but the games are more or less the same for me.

I was wondering does p51-D 30 out turn a yak 9p on low Alt.? or did I just played badly? I was the same speed and Alt with him avoided the headon and started turning but he was able to outurn me for about a min until he shot me down.

Lower wing loading = More maneuverable. G55 has a lower wing loading than a P51.

Hey DEFYN, nearly all content creators and good customs players can swear by you being one of the best pilots out there. People like whooptie, Adam and Green Fury have all recommended you as being the best, not one of.
The thing is, if you look up a premium aircraft buying guide, there's none from a pilot nearly as skilled as you and some of them are pretty dated. I know you won't review bombers or attackers so that cuts out a lot work you'd be putting in so would it be too much to ask for top 10 favorite or your recommend list of premium fighters you'd recommend? There's a anniversary sale coming and a lot of people like me hold out our wt expenses just for that day but I'm just at a loss on how there's no one here recommending good premiums.
I'd understand your frustrations with the idea though, someone being as skilled as you invariably can't recommend something *you* can easily kill and exploit its weakness so giving your thoughts as the average player would be hard for you given your skill level. Still though, you'd be doing the community a favor. It'd help us be better informed of premiums with high skill ceiling such as A7M1 since after getting it, it's not as easy as G55s or A6M5 Ko.
Anyways, I guess I'm asking for your favorite premiums, something you'd recommend. Thanks!
You could go the Oxy way, ask Adam and whooptie to join in and give their thoughts on premiums they like and would recommend.

This is why I don't play props. I love the P-51 but I don't have the skills to win with it. It's always the same. Climb...face G55s, FW-190s, BF-109s and TA-152s. Those planes are always better than our P-51s and P-47s so we lose. I don't have fun this way. But I thoroughly enjoyed watching and learned something. Maybe one day I will get good enough to fly props and win.
The problem is that there's always more of them not that they're better neccesarily. They are harder to fly but invincible if your team doesn't die immediately to head ons and turn fights because they think "the plane that won the war" can do anything 🤦♂️

DEFYN can you share your post FX settings with us? In ARB it is too bright and too often and idk how to make it more friendly for spotting, not to mention eyes.

It's interesting that you don't actually directly support Ripjawz that much...or he, you (until the end). Should I take this to mean that _actual_ Leader/Wingman traditional fighter-section tactics don't really work in War Thunder? I mean, it's not the first time that good "game" tactics have no similarities to "real world" tactics, but I would have thought that of all games, *War Thunder* would give more than lip-service to the idea.

This plane have absolutely crazy BR. It should be at least 5.3 or 5.7
The Ta-152 shouldn't get an air spawn if you want them to be the same BR. Ta-152's make playing US planes so goddamn boring because you need alt to do anything but since Ta-152s do everything you do at alt it's just you trying to run and climb because they won't get off your dick.

@@dsdy1205 Cross factional premium planes started the rot, then the replacement of "Historical" with "Realistic" and now its just plain old mixed battles 90% of the time. Some blame could probably be fobbed onto US players getting drubbed constantly, but those planes are great if used correctly. Casual players and newcomers are often unwilling to climb the, not as steep as people think, learning curve and whine rather than learn. Killed the game for me, sadly. I watch these clips, but feel no inclination to dive in. Just me though.

Lol, that's my everyday game with my squadmates since 1.33.
Full credit for solo fighting and 0 for P51 teamwork. If you guys can keep a distance within 1.6km at the beginning, you will have much easier fighting.
We basically fly solo all the time, and then get together when we need to do some teamwork. Sadly this game we couldn't really get together due to the way we were getting pushed so we had to improvise a little lol
@@DEFYN lol. We always use our airfield AAA to separate the enemies behind us. It is part of the game, make good use of it.
but that's boring and a dick move so we don't.

@@DEFYN nah, a clever guy won't following you to the airfield. It help you turn back and fight multiple enemies. Especially in this case, the g55 keep chasing you. Just go straight back to airfield and make it turn back.
I never think this is a dick move. This is part of the game. I have population disadvantage then I have to use every advantage in my hand. Chasing me or not is your brain's decision. You have many other options. It's your choice Not mine. There're many ways to win a game. That's how the game works.

P-51 D 30 in general are still not better than BF-109 K-4 and FW-190 D's and Ta-152 can rival it in terms of high alt perfomance and climb rate

italien planes is like a japanese zeros i would expect to the G-55 would break off but the italien planes are slow in general and not my favourite so far

D30 can Outturn (k4s,d9s,152s) and outrun (k4s) these easy.
