  • In this video I explore the different methods to work the tibialis anterior muscle - one of the main muscles involved in ... drum roll ... SHIN SPLINTS. Help lengthen this muscle and free is from it's unhealthy/co-dependant relationship with the tibia.

    I really love the measured pace of your voice here. Recent videos (2019/2020) your voice speed is increased to pack more information in. Since the videos provide two-tracks of learning - visual and voice - if your words are too fast, I cannot process both tracks of information. This video has a perfect pace of voice information, to visual information. Thank you for listening. Much love to your work. Our teacher is using these as teaching videos, by the way, at Skyline College in San Bruno.

      Shin splints is usually a gradual onset dysfunction. If someone is in severe pain I will usually make sure they are under the care of a PT or Dr. and wait til it subsides.

    why dorsiflexion can soft the TA? I thought it's contraction when foot is in dorsiflexion, so the muscle TA might be hard?

    Correction: Tibialis Anterior's action is inversion, so if you want to stretch you need to do the opposite action. The insertion of this muscle is at the medial side (base of the first metatarsal and medial cuneiform).

    Your videos are so good I learn a lot from them but the only thing I get Confused at from your technique is why do you massage downwards? From my research and studies I believe it is safe to do that on the back but going against the blood flow on the other limbs can be risky can't it not? For blood clotting, going against 5hw blood flow.??

    • @vini0555
      @vini0555 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pure Professional Fitness Training Exercise good question for most massage techniques you want to work downward to circulate the blood and warm the tissue to gain some laxity and then work up. That way the massage has flow and function. When it comes to blood clots you have to be careful and avoid those areas because if you work upwards near those areas you can push said clots toward the heart and cause fatal problems. Building your foundation knowledge is key here to know where and how to work the body.

    I started developing lumps in the tissues of the anterior muscle. they never bothered me until now. 2 days ago they suddenly became tender and sore. I used to stretch and foam roll these areas before with no issue but now I can't even put any pressure or weight. the muscle feels extra tight. It's extremely painful to fold my legs under and sit on my knees. a stretch I did every other day to stretch out my quads shins and fix ankle mobility. the whole area seems to be hot to the touch also. I hope it's nothing serious. it starts about 1-2" from the top of my ankle right up to about 4" short of my knee. I didn't have any injury and wasn't doing any heavy lifting or strenuous exercise. what do u think is possibly happening?

    • @darvit2

    • @tjgrafiks
      @tjgrafiks 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@darvit2 no these are not vericose veins. I know what they look like. what I have are just straight up lumps. about 3 or 4 on my shin area of my left leg and 2 small ones in the same area of my right leg

    Im not sure my pain is caused by common reason. I had fusion on L1, L2, L3..... discs....1987.....military injury, compress fractures. The pain seems related to fatigue, much golf practice. Also I suspect nerve block. Innitially my hips gave problems. That ia gone now. Only left leg tibia......outside is sensitive to walking......lie on back and hitting golf balls.

    If i want to give a full body massage, do I do the front then have them flip over and do the back? Or should I go bottom to top and have them flip each time. Like start with feet and shins, flip over, massage calves, massage hammies, flip over, massage quads, and so on?

      There is no right or wrong answer here. Different therapists subscribe to different schools of thought on this. Personally I take the information the clients is giving me about any focus they may have and choreograph from there. Hope this helps!

      @onamiilove777 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Place client in prone position(face down) back, arms, finger and legs. Turn over to supine(face up) position, legs, arms and lastly neck is traditionally a good start and finish... Good luck
