I just don’t see how them getting expensive gifts that have nothing to do with the product would compel me to buy the product… Like there’s no correlation here
🎁 I feel like a core issue is that they ARENT selling a product, they’re selling ‘being an influencer’. Which is great for them, because you then become both a consumer and an advertiser…. A lot like MLMs…………….
Couldn't agree more. Personally i think its intentional on the part of the brand. If you don't want to buy tarte cosmetics...maybe you would want to be a tarte influencer because it comes with a list of perks that you don't get from simply buying the product. But the catch is you still have to buy the product either way as your entry into this influencer club.
Its the new age mary kay or avon just with a gen z influencer twist genius to be honest. Ultimately I think a lot of these brands and also the internet is selling "be an influencer" with all these pr hauls , brand trips etc.All these brands get the best of the consumer like @gracebrega6500 says you become the consumer and advertiser two for the price of one . This kinda reminds me of the book the burnout society where the author goes into this . Like we are both the master and the slave in one the ultimate cheap labor for a capitalist system,
These serve two purposes: free pr via videos like this one and people talking about the outrageous pr (which it worked flawlessly), and feeding the illusion that tarte is more of a luxury brand than it really is. It's that simple.
Exactly. When I was struggling, out of a job for a bit, and having a hard time finding a new job, I couldn't get food stamps because I don't have dependent children.
lol am I the only one that sees this as a marketing strategy-- it’s honestly cheaper to send these gifts and get free promo than to get in contract with them and pay high influencer rates w. extra conditions.
Instead of giving to influencers I think thy should send stuff to ppl u buy stuff randomly random gifts I guess that would make the sales more and more hype now.
I have a blog where I post book reviews and other book related content. I've had authors and publishers send me books to read and review for a decade. I actually do read the books and write reviews of these books. But none of these authors and publishers have sent me gifts that aren't book related.
So many influencers seem the same to me. They all wear their hair the same way. The wear the same type of clothing and accessories. They're label whores and hyper consumerists. They show no creativity and no unique sense of style, but when you do find a fashion influencer who is creative and unique, it's so refreshing.
🎁 What if the person receiving the package had a food allergy? Definitely not at all considerate. Also fun video. You going through shopping for the ipad and finding the price was funny 😆
loveddd this video! this is tangentially related BUT ik there has been an ongoing debate of influencers in the high fashion/luxury scene, especially during NYFW and PFW. it is no secret that designer companies are attempting to position themselves as something attainable for GenZ via influencers. one of my favorite influencers, moya mawhinney, used to make lifestyle content and her life as a student. in the last six months, her content has completely pivoted to luxury clothes and makeup, esp bc she lives in paris now. there's been a lot of discussion in her comments ab how some people do not resonate with her videos anymore. it is so fascinating how influencer culture has evolved from makeup, to tummy teas, to helping shein defend themselves from child labor allegations, to now hermes bracelets and YSL fashion shows when 99% if their followers cannot afford the product they are promoting! it just feels like we as the consumers keep getting influenced into purchasing increasingly unaffordable items. at the end of the day, it is always us who pay the price while the rich get richer ;(
I want to see influencers who can stretch a dollar until it screams. I want to see people making really stylish outfits out of clothes they buy from vintage and thrift stores, or find at non-luxury stores.
Probably cheaper than paying for all the posts these folks are going to do afterwards on the Tarte products to keep getting the expensive tech and ugly luxury jewelry AND the influencers who don’t get the stuff but who want to.
I miss the simple days of Michelle Phan teaching us how to do a sunset eye makeup look. Influencers are chaotic nowadays. The over the top PR packages, the blatant displays of entitlement, the overconsumption of products they will never use or even like. And young girls look up to them. It is a MESS.
🎁 I would love to receive an apple air laptop in the mail. But I would be lying if I said I wouldn’t also like to receive a box of all my favorite snacks. It would be great if the sent both expensive gifts and snacks at the same time to random customers. Why can’t we have both.😅
I can't stand gym influencers who constantly show off the free clothe they get. Its like every month theyre trying to get you to buy from the latest drop. For brand trips, these gym brands will give away apple airpod maxes, expensive skincare, etc
🎁🎁🎁 I won't turn down free product 9/10x like get your bag and all that but I think some of these brands are just tacky about it, you COULD gift influencers that are value added to your company and keep that private! Instead, they're really selling that influencer dream and all the 'benefits' that come with that. I agree with you about preferring influencers that actually add value to your life!I love a food influencer that can inspire me to try new stuff in the kitchen or a reviewer (that is trustworthy!!!!) who can give me an idea of products I may like, but the value added situation is why I no longer am really interested in alot of the influencers that I was when I was younger.
I guess its to make the influencers feel like they should talk about the brand more since look we'll give you more cool stuff if you keep shilling. But yeah it's kind of crazy that there's budget for this in their marketing, and also it does distract from the actual goods
now that we know it was all a scam to fool smaller influencers into talking about tarte i hopes they'll get on the pr list too and so making regular people think tarte is so amazing, are we unfollowing tarte and these influencers? or just giving them more publicity?
To be honest, it feels like a brand collaboration. I wouldn't be surprise if they struck a deal with Hermes and Apple to get their products for cheap in exchange of having a chance to reach audience that is normally outside their following group. And sure, most of the people would not be able to buy these products, but they going wide thanks to the controversy - for example I was totally unaware of this Apple's tablet before this video and I'm more likely to buy electrics than makeup 😂 Also, even if they bought these gifts at full cost, probably it's still a fraction of their normal operational costs - buying machines, paying specialists etc.
I just don’t see how them getting expensive gifts that have nothing to do with the product would compel me to buy the product… Like there’s no correlation here
exactly like when i buy the product im not getting all of this with it so why would i wanna get it
🎁 I feel like a core issue is that they ARENT selling a product, they’re selling ‘being an influencer’. Which is great for them, because you then become both a consumer and an advertiser…. A lot like MLMs…………….
yeah I thought the same thing, its giving pyramid scheme

and trying to secure loyalty with influencers. why would an influencer every bash a brand that send them not only free products but a 1k purse.

I think they should be giving all this stuff to their employees... not influencers 💖
💯for sureee
Influencersare employe basically they work for them
Maybe something more useful like increase pay for employees. Influencers are contract employees.
These serve two purposes: free pr via videos like this one and people talking about the outrageous pr (which it worked flawlessly), and feeding the illusion that tarte is more of a luxury brand than it really is. It's that simple.
Nothing more crazy then how rich people always get more free stuff then poor people ..
Exactly. When I was struggling, out of a job for a bit, and having a hard time finding a new job, I couldn't get food stamps because I don't have dependent children.

that’s all it is now the influencers who they did send these expensive gifts will post tarte more hoping for more gifts
Instead of giving to influencers I think thy should send stuff to ppl u buy stuff randomly random gifts I guess that would make the sales more and more hype now.
Same cause that would make me buy a lip gloss or something
their marketing team hasnt stepped foot into university

You deserve so many more subscribers and likes woman - your videos are great. Real thought provoking.
this is such a good video. i was surprised to see it didnt have more likes. i am a proud new follower here!
🎁 What if the person receiving the package had a food allergy? Definitely not at all considerate.
Also fun video. You going through shopping for the ipad and finding the price was funny 😆
these glasses are so pretty!
thank you 🤓
Sure I'll take... But I'd sell it 😳 lol that bracelet is ugly!🤧
😂 that's smart
At first I thought that influencer was trolling us with the cheeze-its but they really sent that to her?! 😮😦
I thought she was mocking them and just pretending to get the cheese-it’s too
If their purpose was for us to never buy tarte. Mission accomplished. I am not buying anything from any brand that sends rich people free stuff

So can we coin a new term for this type of marketing as "Tiered Prestige Marketing" or "Hierarchical PR" ?
What i find funny is that most of them arent paying taxes on these things. But if they are expected to promote the product - they should be.
The chick that got the old crap pr package and tried to not be like eff this (but i feel like her voice failed her) is my fav
Love your content. Keeps me abrest. 🎁 i would want the PR box and i would be so insulted if i recieved the Cheetos box that i wouldnt even show it.
thank you 🐇
Giving people Ipads and Hermes bracelets is nuts...ngl.

Ugh I could never do Tiktok. It seems so fucking safe and boring over there.

This was a fun video, how can I get a Hermes bracelet. 🤔
lol, join the influencer gameeee
$700 for that?????

I would be sad if I got the cheezits lolz
🎁 love your channel and vibe so much.
thank youuu ☺
