@@sneezinhatchYep. I have friends that have died going far slower - no other cars involved. I’ve been road racing for 30 years. I have friends that drag race bikes and have been going to drag bike events since the 80’s. I have always shook my head at the inferior protective equipment drag racers use. I call the damage to those leathers, boots and gloves as big time failures. Moto GP and Superbike guys often hit the ground going those kinds of speeds and their equipment doesn’t come apart like that. I paused the video and compared my own mid priced road race boots and gloves to the yours and the areas where yours failed, mine are reinforced significantly more, especially in those areas. Those soft street style leather gloves and boots with YKK zippers and two piece suits can’t hold up as you can see. As I said before, I’m honestly not picking on you. It’s a cultural thing for those drags guys I guess. I would take my race bikes to the drag strip to practice my launches, I would wear my racing leathers and the drag guys would chuckle and say I looked like an astronaut, while they’re wearing a Kmart one drop helmet, a two piece thin suit and light brown Timberlands. I hope you fully recover and please consider getting some modern protective gear with CEC armor, back protectors and rigid, impact resistant boots designed to protect against flailing feet. Safe riding…..Cheers
Exactly my thoughts, thank you. I get an uneasy feeling watching the guys with their thin suits at the drag strip. I always wondered why they weren't using the same stuff as road racing professionals. Kangaroo leather is light, thin and super abrasion resistant. I also think of Daytona boots with an inner rigid carbon fibre inner boot. I've been sliding along on tracks at high speeds, but never had equipment fail on me like those. No hard feelings and no smugness though, I'm happy you got away okay. I wish you a fast recovery!
Very sound advise and I completely agree, my road gear has protection absolutely everywhere, boots with ankle braces and shin armour, chest protector, back protector, full leathers with elbow, shoulder, hip, knee and shin protection, gloves with double closure and Carbon knuckle protection and an HJC full Carbon RPHA 11 MotoGP spec helmet. You only have one body, you need to protect it.
i know Vanson and Bates make good stuff, but my Alpinestars gear has a LOT more protection in critical areas than his boots, suit, and gloves. no back of hand armor? that's crazy to me. my bike only goes 174 in the quarter but i definitely wouldn't ride at his speeds with only a single layer of leather between me and the track.
Dude, you basically kind of walked away from an almost 200 mph crash, this speaks volumes about the necessity of safety gear. I know you sustained some injuries, but you're walking again and I know it could have been a helluva lot worse if all the gear all the time wasn't being worn. Glad you're OK and can talk about what happened, and be able to explain to all of us what caused your race bike to crash from a racer's point of view. Thanks man! Keep riding 'em like ya stole 'em!
What’s up Chris you may or may not remember me from one of the drag school events in Palm beach international, I had the tan Busa. Long story short put a gen 2 conversion on it, finally went 8.80s, went to test on the street and went down at 156mph, I got super blessed because I had a helmet on, if I had leathers on I probably would of gotten away with no broken bones. I’m good now, but it is that sudden stop that gets you and I say it all the time, yes it was 156mph from the data log, but if I would of hit anything other then the ground I would of been dead. Happy to see you are mobile again and not permanently hurt. God looked over you along with an angel or two that day. Stay blessed man.
WOW!!! Thank goodness you were able to walk away from that one bro!!! Crazy how it only takes a split second to have a bad day! The awesome gear ALWAYS matters, it can definitely save your ass, literally!! The asphalt is very unforgiving even at low speeds! Thanks for preaching the gospel about the importance of wearing excellent quality gear and I’m in the congregation!!! Hopefully one day soon you can wake up my Honda CMX1100! Awesome video. Thank you. 🙏👍✌️
The best part of the video is you recognizing the importance of gear... Even on the street. I've seen so many friends ride without it, and they claim it's hot. But that road rash is so much hotter. 😂 Glad to see you still walking. I can't imagine what it was like. And yeah, those sudden stops hurt. 45 mph straight into a stop had me down for almost 3 weeks.
could the exhaust/dump pipe being on the right side be what's pushing you left? Steve Morris actually proved that with his bullhorn pipes pointed down made him wheelie more - to me it makes sense (depending on boost levels and how much air is really coming out of that pipe). Glad to see you're alive, up and around, and the bike can be replaced - you cannot.
It’s what I was thinking. On my buddy’s 7 second drag truck, 4-1 headers would keep the steering very light and wandering. Zoomies kept it steering straight and planted.
Very possible, the thrust that an exhaust produces can be significant, especially on high power engines. WW2 fighter planes were designed to use exhaust thrust to help push the plane forward. The exhaust design on this bike is like strapping a very powerful blower pointing sideways to the bike. Bikes are easily steered by even minor side forces.
I was thinking the same the minute he was telling about both bikes pulling left and both have the exhaust straight to the right side of the bike. Time to do some tests on this subject !
Really good to hear big country’s side of the crash! I’ve heard that scraping sound a couple times from close friends so I can only imagine what he was feeling in the moment.
I drive by the shop everyday. Saw your truck there Tuesday and was pretty surprised after seeing the crash video. Like you said, keep it on the track. We've had several fatalities on Wade Hampton within a mile or two from your shop in the last couple of years. Glad to see you in such good shape, all things considered.
If you don’t wreck you don’t ride!! I lost it at 90mph. Was sore for a few days. Bike went wheels to seat over and over. Picked up parts in 5 gal buckets. Put it back together and still have it after 33 years. On the track is the only place for testing and pushing things. I’m just as happy listening to my 636 at 55mph enjoying the day on back roads as anything else. Dear and fences are killers!!! Glad you’re ok! You have the right attitude and I thank you for showing gear and damages it is very important for all to see and understand.
Hello Chris, first of all, glad ur ok! I've been down before(nowhere near that fast) that shit don't feel good at all! So I feel u. Ur right gear is everything. Glad to hear they can fix the #2 frame, can't wait to see the hyperbusa back on the track better than ever. Yall are the best! Keep on keeping on!
looks like you created a high pressure zone behind the fairing on the turbo side that over pressured the exhaust side and pushed the fairing out and it caught the full force of the aero effects at that speed and exploded.
You weren't blabbering, it was good to hear right from you about your crash. Very glad you're ok and will be back to racing before you know it. You have a great TH-cam channel and you and kountry put out some of the best content out there!
190 mph wreck with no serious injuries is something you rarely hear about, glad to see you're in good health. I've seen bikes that have been dropped going under 40 mph with way more damage, it's impressive to see it's still in one piece.
Chris As an 67yo biker (my last bike 3 years ago was a modded BKing that was insane and was clocked at 316kmh non turbo) and having had some big offs (head on at 90mph with a Jag xj6 that overtook on a double white line from behind a truck) and a highside at 80mph on my GS1200 on the dirt in 2017 - i never thought i was ever going to land again- i agree, it hurts. Good equipment is essential, my father that raced IOM TT in late 50's and early 60's and taught me to ride Triumphs in 1964 gave me this advice: -dress for the fall and not for the dance -if you got a $10 head buy a $10 helmet, otherwise buy the best you can. Have ridden with Bell helmets since 1974..... As an old high speed road racer and engineer, i can tell you cutting holes in fairings does crazy things to your handling, as well as adding a high pressure zone (exhaust exit) next to your fairing on one side could be pushing you off to the right. You may consider a slightly longer exit with a titanium pipe under the bike towards the side of your back wheel. It may also be advisable to take the bike to a wind tunnel and put the streams and sensors on it at 200mph and see whats happening. Suzuki engineers spent many hours in the wind tunnel to get the airflow right so the bike tracks straight at top speed in head on, cross winds and diagonal winds so it may be wise to have a look at that. Glad you safe and relatively unharmed.
Chris I’m so glad your OK. I can’t believe how open and honest your are. You have definitely proved the value of wearing proper quality gear. As a rider, my greatest fear is not sliding and tumbling, but impacting a solid object, be it curb, wall, post, tree, car and a thousand other immovable objects found on highways and streets. Been riding 57 years and thankfully had no serious accidents.
Back in 2001 I went down on the track at 130 and spent three months in a wheelchair.. I can't even imagine how you came out so well at 190+ I'm just glad you are ok and here to talk about it!
When you have a look at the video from the start end - it looks like the bike "blew - up" in a way that there must have been so much pressure build-up 'inside the fairing' that it eventually couldn't take it and let go and causing you to crash. The pulling to the left was your tell-tale warning.. So very glad (and I bet Mrs Moore is too!!!) you could literally walk away from it. Wearing some better gear to protect yourself - and Kountry, is seroius food for thought. I hope you look into the aerodynamics before your brother has the same thing happen to him.. Take Good Care!
Glad you're keeping number 02 alive & you are too 🙏. Maybe open up the side panels to flow air through & add some winglets somewhere. Just trial a few different aero bits , you'll work it out 👍. All the best on your recovery Chris & keep sending it 🤙💨🚀
Im glad you're ok, chris. I've been following you for years and even used 2 of your tunes in the past. Crazy 🤪 Ive done more damage to my bikes with a 60mph crash, 120mph crash and an 80mph crash. Totalled 3 bikes into pieces. Its funny because my 120mph crash was a wheelie loop in 4th gear. And I person had zero injuries. My gear and leather suit took all of the punishment. I slid for a long time on my butt, than flipping. I hoped not to hit anything. And thankfully I lucked out. It's crazy that we can crash well over 100mph and be just fine with good gear on. Just some aches and pain.
Safety first because you may not get a second chance....Thanks for the update, Chris. Good to see you healing up so quickly. I believe you're right about the turbo filter theory. It's scary to think it could happen again, though. If you could put the Busa in a wind tunnel with the "smoke" when it's back together, that might give you some insight. Just a thought.
@mooremafia glad to see you are doing good and safe and alive. God bless you and all you know. Stay safe, good to hear the gear did their job and encouraging us dummies to wear gear and be more careful. Keep doing what you are doing brother, much love.
The exhaust exiting out the right has thrust like a little jet engine. This could push you to the left. THANKs for showing us the gear after the crash. Really drives home the point of dressing for the crash. Just like skiing, watch out for that closing time last run of the day! Glad you're on the mend.
I’m happy for you man! It happens bro! I was a finalist at VMP in 2001 Bike Fest and went down at the end of the quarter and ended up runner up after going down. But that was the beginning for me, as soon as the bike was ready and I was ready, I was right back out there.
God damn it, finally! I was about to say if you gonna stay more in the wheelchair to put it some horse power with turbo, but i'm truly glad you are out of it mate. You are the best! Wish you the best in future and stay safe
Plus the fact that the turbo is actually pulling in air like its attached to the bike and all the air being sucked could gravitational pull you that way also
Good feedback. My two piece Bates leathers held up fine at much lower speed crash on the salt flats in 2023. All the stitching held on leathers and Bates boots. I shattered the elbow at the initial contract. Unfortunately they cut my leathers off, however I was happy the Rocket 3 didn’t land on top of me.
Chris, glad to see youre in one piece! Last year i hit a driveway drain culvert after goin wide on a kneedown turn and flipped a vfr800 end over end at 83mph in jeans and a Clutch concert tee-shirt. Only had gloves and helmet, flipped, and rolled like 9 times. I walked away, no ambulance or hospital, i feel your pain brother. My back and shoulders were hamburger! Its scary hoping you dont hit anything else but the ground. I said the same thing "am i ever gonna stop rolling and bouncing" Wishing you a speedy recovery, and im happy that such an awesome fixture in the supersport community, lived to tell about it, and way to set a good example by wearing your gear! I love your content, and i just lost a buddy last thanksgiving, tboned a jeep cherokee that ran a stop. Theres STILL a black charred spot on the road 3 miles from my apartment today. Breaks my fn heart. He was 19.... Life happens, and so does death. Im SO HAPPY YOURE OKAY CHRIS!!! I dont know you personally, but i feel a connection to you & big country from your content and your love for the sport... Ive ridden 20 years now, im 42... So happy you made it brother! So happy! Word of the wise, if you got a pain script, dont take em more than 3 days straight, you will feel like youve got the flu, and the only thing thatll make it go away is more. Im in recovery for several years now after an accident at the slaughterhouse i worked at. 1800 lb steer fell off the winch while i was droppin its head and squished me. Got hooked on vicos and percs. Beware brother. I wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy. Addiction withdrawal hurts for weeks... All my love.. (no homo)❤
Super happy to see you making a speedy recovery man. You’re blessed to have angels that are as fast as you. I’ve got a video series idea for you gentlemen. Instead of a turbo gsxr 1000 you should build a supercharged gsxr, I think that would be sick and catch yall a bunch of views! Anyway, I pray you heal fast and I look forward to your next video!
Kudos for everything you do in the racing community and thank goodness you're well. It may be time to wear full road race leathers for max protection and you should consider retiring the low speed rated front tire. Not preaching to ya... I've been doing this for 45 years. Stuff happens.
So glad you’re ok Chris! Always scary loosing the fairings, has happened to me too, I was just lucky the bike didn’t go down. Can’t wait to see you back in the 5’s with Melania
0:24 oh my goodness I cried I never seen a content creator be so transparent with their content love you I cried like a baby 😳praying safety over you bro it went good to bad so quick
You said it well Chris, “God, and Bell Helmets, was looking out for me!” I was a paramedic full time professionally and as a volunteer back in the day, I’ve seen more than most people will ever seen, and I hope they never do see what I’ve seen. But I’ve found most people describe their accidents the same way, “It all went in slow motion, like it lasted minutes instead of the seconds it actually happened in!” Again, it was GOD protecting you. Glad to see you on the video, talking and acting nearly back to your old self! .^^ I have a Suzuki TL that’s all Carbon Fiber and then we replicated the factory paint scheme over the CF weave allowing the weave to show through where the bike was originally black, just as you are planning. People who know the TL know what to look for but most people think it’s a factory scheme but updated the look of the bike, well that along w the BST’s!
If only the body blew off, which was cause of you to go down, you need to either seal air from entering in the body or add Naca ducts to remove the air. One or the other needs to happen! Glad your doing good 💪😎
You are very lucky to be alive and I am very happy it ended well for you. Continue the good work, love your channel. You're a ba d a s s m f. God speed.
So glad you’re doing better. I noticed on the pass just before you went down you let out a huge smoke cloud on the top end before you made that final pass. My first thought after you went down was “did he lift the head on the engine?” The way it blew apart was wild. Wish you the best man you surely were blessed that day by your guardian angel
God bless you bro! You have an angel over you! So glad to see you are OK! Get back on it and ride it out! Prayers for the rest of your recovery. Godspeed bro, take it easy for a while!
You have some good thoughts on that! Also kinda wonder if that fairing coming off, didnt grab the front brake lever some way causing the slam… Glad ol Chris is ok! 🙏
Glad to see you kicking brother. Speaking the truth with the track being the place to go fast. I tell everyone the same. Heal up and get back to kicking ass man.
WOW man, 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 I’m so happy you are OK Chris. God was certainly looking after you.. you are blessed. Keep up with the awesome videos and work you and Kountry are doing. Anton from South Africa 🇿🇦
Fast moving air, like coming out of an exhaust, will create a low pressure area around it. Pulling high pressure air from behind it the inside the fairings. Could be beneficial to route the exhaust exit farther past the fairings and facing the rear..
I honestly thought the motor had blown up, when I saw bits of bike exploding across the track. Crazy that trapped air could have such an impact on the bike. Glad you are safe and well. Looking forward to seeing you race the bike again.
Glad your doing good brother. I went down Sept-16-23 in the city. Car blew threw an intersection that night right in front of me. I had waaaaayyy more damage that you did. Shattered Pelvis, Hip broke off of pelvis. Shattered sacrums and tail bone. Dislocated right knee, all torn ligaments in the knee, crushed the fibular head in my right leg and completely severed the Peroneal nerve. And a Shattered left arm. ICU for a month and rehabilitation home for a month. 1 year later, I've had 8 surgeries and assisted walking using Crutches. So i agree 10000% its the sudden stop that kills you. Had i been going faster than 30, I wouldn't be here. Track is a much safer environment. No distracted drivers on a track 😒. I've been watching you for years. I am looking forward to all the years to come. It keeps me connected to the community I love. Ride safe Familia
the exhaust coming out facing the right side can push the bike left. even with drag cars you can watch the cars with a single bumper exit exhaust wiggle down track.
I always "practice" crashing on my dirt bike and it makes me better on the street. I've ridden my whole life and fortunately have had no street crashes. Good on ya brother.
Firstly, glad your doing well mate. Secondly, I think you hit the nail on the head with the turbulent air building up under the fairings. Maybe a relief vent needs to be cut in at the back of the fairings to help that air move through the fairings and maybe some strength in added to it or it's a great time to just go carbon fairings 😊. Any much love mate.✌️🇦🇺
My first thought was that the fairings probably need more venting with the turbo kit stopping all that air from exiting and sure enough that's basically where we ended up. Glad you're alright and here to ride another day! Down but not out, can't wait to see you back up and racing brother
Glad you're okay. And the fact that you weren't SERIOUSLY hurt crashing at 192mph is a testament to the value of wearing ALL THE GEAR, ALL THE TIME!

190 mph wreck with no serious injuries is something you rarely hear about, glad to see you're in good health. I've seen bikes that have been dropped going under 40 mph with way more damage, it's impressive to see it's still in one piece.
Holy hell, for laying over at nearly 200 you both came out way better than expected for how violent that crash looked
Chris
As an 67yo biker (my last bike 3 years ago was a modded BKing that was insane and was clocked at 316kmh non turbo) and having had some big offs (head on at 90mph with a Jag xj6 that overtook on a double white line from behind a truck) and a highside at 80mph on my GS1200 on the dirt in 2017 - i never thought i was ever going to land again- i agree, it hurts.
Good equipment is essential, my father that raced IOM TT in late 50's and early 60's and taught me to ride Triumphs in 1964 gave me this advice:
-dress for the fall and not for the dance
-if you got a $10 head buy a $10 helmet, otherwise buy the best you can.
We appreciate you Chris 🙏🏾 glad you're ok! We all need you
Back in 2001 I went down on the track at 130 and spent three months in a wheelchair.. I can't even imagine how you came out so well at 190+
I'm just glad you are ok and here to talk about it!
Glad your still with us and in great shape considering how fast you were going.
Thanks for explaining what you think happened and really glad you're still with us Chris!
I got sick to my stomach when I first heard you went down on the big end. So happy to see you’re getting back to yourself, and keeping us updated.
Crazy 🤪
Ive done more damage to my bikes with a 60mph crash, 120mph crash and an 80mph crash.
Your blessed my guy. You for sure have purpose here. Happy to see you here to talk about it.
Glad you're ok Chris! Like you said, wearing gear IS worth it. Speedy recovery !
God damn it, finally! I was about to say if you gonna stay more in the wheelchair to put it some horse power with turbo, but i'm truly glad you are out of it mate. You are the best! Wish you the best in future and stay safe
Chris glad to hear that you're doing well brother 🙏🏿 stay safe be blessed dude 😎
I'm glad you came through ok Chris and can't wait to see the repaired HyperBusa!!!
Bro I'm glad you're getting better, thanxs for answering the left drift logic
Glad to see your back up and at it bro!!! Definitely had the good lord watching over you on that wild ride!! 💯
We are so glad you're not hurt very badly keep up the good work and stay safe
Brother I am glad you are doing better testament to wearing all your gear saves lives.
You said it well Chris, “God, and Bell Helmets, was looking out for me!”
I was a paramedic full time professionally and as a volunteer back in the day, I’ve seen more than most people will ever seen, and I hope they never do see what I’ve seen.
But I’ve found most people describe their accidents the same way, “It all went in slow motion, like it lasted minutes instead of the seconds it actually happened in!”
Again, it was GOD protecting you.
It's a miracle brother. Get well soon.
If only the body blew off, which was cause of you to go down,
you need to either seal air from entering in the body
or add Naca ducts to remove the air.
One or the other needs to happen!
Glad your doing good 💪😎
Glad to see you’re bouncing back brother.
Glad to see you’re okay Chris you are truly Blessed to walk away from that accident.
Glad to hear about your speedy recovery. ❤
Man I am glad you are ok praying 🙏🏾 for a speedy recovery
You are very lucky to be alive and I am very happy it ended well for you. Continue the good work, love your channel. You're a ba d a s s m f. God speed.
Thank God you’re alright. Thanks for sharing all that detail Be safe buddy
Bossman glad you are good can’t wait too see you back on the bike
The exhaust off the turbo could be pushing you to the left. Some of the big turbo cars I've seen push the cars to which ever side the downpipe is on.
Man I can’t believe your still alive and walking around!!! Clearly miracle
Brother I’m glad you are good! You can’t leave I love watching your channel. God Bless you and your family!🫡🫡🫡
cant wait to see you back on a bike
WOW man, 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 I’m so happy you are OK Chris. God was certainly looking after you.. you are blessed. Keep up with the awesome videos and work you and Kountry are doing. Anton from South Africa 🇿🇦
Fast moving air, like coming out of an exhaust, will create a low pressure area around it. Pulling high pressure air from behind it the inside the fairings. Could be beneficial to route the exhaust exit farther past the fairings and facing the rear..
That would help a lot basicly spot on assement
Thank god you’re alive man. That was a nasty crash. Could’ve been a lot worse. Always enjoy the videos
Your lucky to be alive. You must be living well. 👍
the exhaust coming out facing the right side can push the bike left. even with drag cars you can watch the cars with a single bumper exit exhaust wiggle down track.
Glad you’re OK! 192 mph man!!
Glad you're okay Chris!! wish you the best!!
Thanks for the update and we're all so glad you're doing well!
Glad you’re okay brother! Thrust from the exhaust and drag from the air filter is my theory
Happy You’re ok dude, we need you to continue to break records on the track, many Blessings🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I say the title and thought "The better question is are you totaled"
Glad too see you okay safe riding 💙
I always "practice" crashing on my dirt bike and it makes me better on the street. I've ridden my whole life and fortunately have had no street crashes. Good on ya brother.
i’m happy you’re okay god bless
Chris im glad your ok ride safe wear gear
Firstly, glad your doing well mate.
Secondly, I think you hit the nail on the head with the turbulent air building up under the fairings. Maybe a relief vent needs to be cut in at the back of the fairings to help that air move through the fairings and maybe some strength in added to it or it's a great time to just go carbon fairings 😊.
Any much love mate.✌️🇦🇺
Happy to see your up and about. Speedy recovery.
Chris, as many have said glad you are on the mend! I cant wait to see the rebuild series for the Hyperbusa.
My first thought was that the fairings probably need more venting with the turbo kit stopping all that air from exiting and sure enough that's basically where we ended up.
Glad you're alright and here to ride another day! Down but not out, can't wait to see you back up and racing brother
