@@sneezinhatchYep. I have friends that have died going far slower - no other cars involved. But they came off their bike and slid, got road rash and the subsequent infection was too much for them to overcome. It's why I wear my full track suit every time I ride. Overkill? Maybe. But I can't predict when I'll need it. :)
He was going so fast the velocity saved him and holly heck left his pinky finger knuckle burnt through those gloves just from the frictions of sliding at over 190 mph x
I’ve been road racing for 30 years. I have friends that drag race bikes and have been going to drag bike events since the 80’s. I have always shook my head at the inferior protective equipment drag racers use. I call the damage to those leathers, boots and gloves as big time failures. I’ve hit the ground a bunch over the years and been high sided so high, I didn’t think I was ever gonna come back down. Road race suits, boots & gloves are light years ahead of that stuff. Drag racers are wearing essentially the same equipment as back in the 70’s. I’m not picking on you Chris and I’m pleased you are ok. I understand you went down going massive speed. Moto GP and Superbike guys often hit the ground going those kinds of speeds and their equipment doesn’t come apart like that. I paused the video and compared my own mid priced road race boots and gloves to the yours and the areas where yours failed, mine are reinforced significantly more, especially in those areas. Those soft street style leather gloves and boots with YKK zippers and two piece suits can’t hold up as you can see. As I said before, I’m honestly not picking on you. It’s a cultural thing for those drags guys I guess. I would take my race bikes to the drag strip to practice my launches, I would wear my racing leathers and the drag guys would chuckle and say I looked like an astronaut, while they’re wearing a Kmart one drop helmet, a two piece thin suit and light brown Timberlands. I hope you fully recover and please consider getting some modern protective gear with CEC armor, back protectors and rigid, impact resistant boots designed to protect against flailing feet. Safe riding…..Cheers
Exactly my thoughts, thank you. I get an uneasy feeling watching the guys with their thin suits at the drag strip. I always wondered why they weren't using the same stuff as road racing professionals. Kangaroo leather is light, thin and super abrasion resistant. I also think of Daytona boots with an inner rigid carbon fibre inner boot. I've been sliding along on tracks at high speeds, but never had equipment fail on me like those. No hard feelings and no smugness though, I'm happy you got away okay. I wish you a fast recovery!
Very sound advise and I completely agree, my road gear has protection absolutely everywhere, boots with ankle braces and shin armour, chest protector, back protector, full leathers with elbow, shoulder, hip, knee and shin protection, gloves with double closure and Carbon knuckle protection and an HJC full Carbon RPHA 11 MotoGP spec helmet. You only have one body, you need to protect it.
could the exhaust/dump pipe being on the right side be what's pushing you left? Steve Morris actually proved that with his bullhorn pipes pointed down made him wheelie more - to me it makes sense (depending on boost levels and how much air is really coming out of that pipe). Glad to see you're alive, up and around, and the bike can be replaced - you cannot.
It’s what I was thinking. On my buddy’s 7 second drag truck, 4-1 headers would keep the steering very light and wandering. Zoomies kept it steering straight and planted.
Very possible, the thrust that an exhaust produces can be significant, especially on high power engines. WW2 fighter planes were designed to use exhaust thrust to help push the plane forward. The exhaust design on this bike is like strapping a very powerful blower pointing sideways to the bike. Bikes are easily steered by even minor side forces.
I was thinking the same the minute he was telling about both bikes pulling left and both have the exhaust straight to the right side of the bike. Time to do some tests on this subject !
What’s up Chris you may or may not remember me from one of the drag school events in Palm beach international, I had the tan Busa. Long story short put a gen 2 conversion on it, finally went 8.80s, went to test on the street and went down at 156mph, I got super blessed because I had a helmet on, if I had leathers on I probably would of gotten away with no broken bones. I’m good now, but it is that sudden stop that gets you and I say it all the time, yes it was 156mph from the data log, but if I would of hit anything other then the ground I would of been dead. Happy to see you are mobile again and not permanently hurt. God looked over you along with an angel or two that day. Stay blessed man.
Dude, you basically kind of walked away from an almost 200 mph crash, this speaks volumes about the necessity of safety gear. I know you sustained some injuries, but you're walking again and I know it could have been a helluva lot worse if all the gear all the time wasn't being worn. Glad you're OK and can talk about what happened, and be able to explain to all of us what caused your race bike to crash from a racer's point of view. Thanks man! Keep riding 'em like ya stole 'em!
And after falling off at over 190 mph, Chris flashed my ZH2 Project bike ECU day before yesterday, and got it back in the mail today. Your the man buddy, and sure glad you didn't break any bones, and are are back at it. Thanks buddy Dale Walker, Holeshot Performance. 💪 PS Take some advice from this old dude, and wear your gear on the street to. We want you around a long time. DW
If you don’t wreck you don’t ride!! I lost it at 90mph. Was sore for a few days. Bike went wheels to seat over and over. Picked up parts in 5 gal buckets. Put it back together and still have it after 33 years. On the track is the only place for testing and pushing things. I’m just as happy listening to my 636 at 55mph enjoying the day on back roads as anything else. Dear and fences are killers!!! Glad you’re ok! You have the right attitude and I thank you for showing gear and damages it is very important for all to see and understand.
looks like you created a high pressure zone behind the fairing on the turbo side that over pressured the exhaust side and pushed the fairing out and it caught the full force of the aero effects at that speed and exploded.
i know Vanson and Bates make good stuff, but my Alpinestars gear has a LOT more protection in critical areas than his boots, suit, and gloves. no back of hand armor? that's crazy to me. my bike only goes 174 in the quarter but i definitely wouldn't ride at his speeds with only a single layer of leather between me and the track.
190 mph wreck with no serious injuries is something you rarely hear about, glad to see you're in good health. I've seen bikes that have been dropped going under 40 mph with way more damage, it's impressive to see it's still in one piece.
I drive by the shop everyday. Saw your truck there Tuesday and was pretty surprised after seeing the crash video. Like you said, keep it on the track. We've had several fatalities on Wade Hampton within a mile or two from your shop in the last couple of years. Glad to see you in such good shape, all things considered.
Really good to hear big country’s side of the crash! I’ve heard that scraping sound a couple times from close friends so I can only imagine what he was feeling in the moment.
You weren't blabbering, it was good to hear right from you about your crash. Very glad you're ok and will be back to racing before you know it. You have a great TH-cam channel and you and kountry put out some of the best content out there!
Glad you're keeping number 02 alive & you are too 🙏. Maybe open up the side panels to flow air through & add some winglets somewhere. Just trial a few different aero bits , you'll work it out 👍. All the best on your recovery Chris & keep sending it 🤙💨🚀

Kudos for everything you do in the racing community and thank goodness you're well. It may be time to wear full road race leathers for max protection and you should consider retiring the low speed rated front tire. Not preaching to ya... I've been doing this for 45 years. Stuff happens.
I hit the ground at 100 miles an hour at Sears point in Northern California California had all my gear on. Didn’t even get a scratch. That’s why you wear the gear. I’m glad you did have all your gear on and if you didn’t you would’ve died you hit the ground twice as fast as me so we all walked away.
I hit some parked cars at 50 and broke back , collar bone and 7 ribs with the gear on, though no back protector, so it depends what you hot as well as how fast.
@ you hit parked cars you had a sudden stop basically we just went off and slid and tumbled. Of course, you are going to have a lot more damage than us. I hope that you recovered and ride if you can, you had it way worse than me and him.
You must be from the early 1990's. I was at Sears Point pretty often during that time and took several trackdays; I saw so many wrecks on my first track day, including a helicopter ride on the 2nd lap of the first session. I just thought the incredibly high crash rate was normal for trackdays.
Back in 2001 I went down on the track at 130 and spent three months in a wheelchair.. I can't even imagine how you came out so well at 190+ I'm just glad you are ok and here to talk about it!
Good feedback. My two piece Bates leathers held up fine at much lower speed crash on the salt flats in 2023. All the stitching held on leathers and Bates boots. I shattered the elbow at the initial contract. Unfortunately they cut my leathers off, however I was happy the Rocket 3 didn’t land on top of me.
My first thought was that the fairings probably need more venting with the turbo kit stopping all that air from exiting and sure enough that's basically where we ended up. Glad you're alright and here to ride another day! Down but not out, can't wait to see you back up and racing brother
WOW man, 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 I’m so happy you are OK Chris. God was certainly looking after you.. you are blessed. Keep up with the awesome videos and work you and Kountry are doing. Anton from South Africa 🇿🇦
Wow! Glad you're okay. Thanks for sharing this amazing story. This is the best motorcycle gear commercial I've ever seen. I don't just want Bates jacket pants and boots I feel like I can't live without them. I hope they hook you up because this commercial definitely sold some gear for them.
Glad to see you kicking brother. Speaking the truth with the track being the place to go fast. I tell everyone the same. Heal up and get back to kicking ass man.
So glad you’re doing better. I noticed on the pass just before you went down you let out a huge smoke cloud on the top end before you made that final pass. My first thought after you went down was “did he lift the head on the engine?” The way it blew apart was wild. Wish you the best man you surely were blessed that day by your guardian angel
God bless you bro! You have an angel over you! So glad to see you are OK! Get back on it and ride it out! Prayers for the rest of your recovery. Godspeed bro, take it easy for a while!
Glad you're OK, and glad you added the info at the end. It's ALWAYS the sudden stop that gets you. Take the front lawn, take the sidewalk, take whatever you have to, to not hit solid objects. Shit, I once contemplated standing on the seat and jumping to clear an suv that pulled out in front of me, just raced through my head, but I was lucky enough to go behind it, and not hit it, but my dad told me...always be prepared to crash, but not afraid to ride.
Glad your making a fast recovery. I have been watching your channel few a few years now and I was glad to see you made it out on the other side. Big fan of you and your brother Big kountry.
I've seen something similar going down the highway with one of the riders on their Busa, but I think with him. He didn't have everything connected like he should have. Luckily, no one was around him at the time. Glad you are doing well!
So glad you’re ok Chris! Always scary loosing the fairings, has happened to me too, I was just lucky the bike didn’t go down. Can’t wait to see you back in the 5’s with Melania
I’m happy for you man! It happens bro! I was a finalist at VMP in 2001 Bike Fest and went down at the end of the quarter and ended up runner up after going down. But that was the beginning for me, as soon as the bike was ready and I was ready, I was right back out there.
I went down at 120. Sliding and tumbling felt like it was never going to end. I could not imagine 200. Glad you're OK chris! All and all you got away with what I would think is minimal injuries for how fast you were going. Heal up quick buddy!
So happy to see you're okay Chris. On a land speed run up in Maine a crosswind almost pushed me into a cone on the airstrip. I missed it by about a foot at 195 miles per hour. Sometimes you get lucky. Heal up brother 🙏
happy to see you're doing ok after that crazy crash. just highlights how important it is to have good riding gear. fastest I've ever is 260kph and I couldn't imagine going down at over 300 and living to tell the tale
Fast moving air, like coming out of an exhaust, will create a low pressure area around it. Pulling high pressure air from behind it the inside the fairings. Could be beneficial to route the exhaust exit farther past the fairings and facing the rear..
Hello Chris, first of all, glad ur ok! I've been down before(nowhere near that fast) that shit don't feel good at all! So I feel u. Ur right gear is everything. Glad to hear they can fix the #2 frame, can't wait to see the hyperbusa back on the track better than ever. Yall are the best! Keep on keeping on!
Super happy to see you making a speedy recovery man. You’re blessed to have angels that are as fast as you. I’ve got a video series idea for you gentlemen. Instead of a turbo gsxr 1000 you should build a supercharged gsxr, I think that would be sick and catch yall a bunch of views! Anyway, I pray you heal fast and I look forward to your next video!
I always "practice" crashing on my dirt bike and it makes me better on the street. I've ridden my whole life and fortunately have had no street crashes. Good on ya brother.
Hey man glad you made it through the fire, and thx for making this video because we all needed to hear the how and why. The track is truly the place we need to be, now go ahead and break out that new suit you were preserving! 😅
I am glad you’re okay Chris!! I like to roll race on the street more than the strip and this video just humbled me in so many ways. I am keeping it at the strip or an 1/2 mile event or whatever. I Appreciate you a lot Chris for this video.
I started running a dragbike @ Orlando Speed World back in the mid 80s and stayed pretty safe. Too many people were getting hurt or worse messing around racing on the street. Save it for the track folks. Thanks Chris and Country for the Public Service Announcement.. lol.
You're a lucky man Chris and I am happy to see you up and about, well on the road to a full recovery. I came off a friends bike at around 50 mph and I'm sat here with a broken collar bone, 6 fractured ribs and a fractured wrist, sliding down the road and hitting a pothole is no fun at all... Repairing his bike is also going to be no fun for my bank account.
Safety first because you may not get a second chance....Thanks for the update, Chris. Good to see you healing up so quickly. I believe you're right about the turbo filter theory. It's scary to think it could happen again, though. If you could put the Busa in a wind tunnel with the "smoke" when it's back together, that might give you some insight. Just a thought.
Firstly, glad your doing well mate. Secondly, I think you hit the nail on the head with the turbulent air building up under the fairings. Maybe a relief vent needs to be cut in at the back of the fairings to help that air move through the fairings and maybe some strength in added to it or it's a great time to just go carbon fairings 😊. Any much love mate.✌️🇦🇺
I had a really bad accident July, last year, and got a tbi where I got hydrocephalus and hemiplegia so kudos to you, if you ride again. I DO hope to ride again, but me nor my family thinks I SHOULD ride again, doesn’t mean I don’t want to though. I hope you have an amazing life moving forward from that moment. My best advice to anyone else who sees this is, don’t be a cowboy on the road, if you’re gonna be an idiot, do it in the safest way possible. The worst thing that could happen isn’t death, take it from me. The thing worse than ending your life is, ruining it.
So glad you are okay. I highsided my bike doing sub 50mph and landed with my bike on top of me fracturing my hip clean through. You crashed at 192 and are walking 3 days later.
Keep and cherish those leathers and helmet, my bell helmet saved my life when I was 14, not as bad as your but I still wear it riding on occasion at 56, its a good reminder about safety equipment. Glad you are ok man
You've got really big balls, man. I'm glad that everything went well, as they say, I got off with a slight fright. Greetings from Russia, keep up the good work.
Chris, I'm glad you are doing well and healing quickly. I'm sure all your fans appreciate the full details of what happened. What about cutting in some vents on the side fairings just to make sure air or possible turbulence can escape? You definitely see that on hyper racer cars. Probably look cool also. Peace ❤
Glad you're ok bro. I had a similar crash this year February on my Gen 2 Hayabusa, still trying to get my bike back together. Looking forward to seeing you soon at Trinidad 🇹🇹.
Glad you're okay. And the fact that you weren't SERIOUSLY hurt crashing at 192mph is a testament to the value of wearing ALL THE GEAR, ALL THE TIME!

Thanks for explaining what you think happened and really glad you're still with us Chris!
God bless you bro! You have an angel over you! So glad to see you are OK! Get back on it and ride it out! Prayers for the rest of your recovery. Godspeed bro, take it easy for a while!
Happy to see your up and about. Speedy recovery.
Man I can’t believe your still alive and walking around!!! Clearly miracle
Thank god you’re alive man. That was a nasty crash. Could’ve been a lot worse. Always enjoy the videos
Your lucky to be alive. You must be living well. 👍
Glad to hear about your speedy recovery. ❤
Chris, as many have said glad you are on the mend! I cant wait to see the rebuild series for the Hyperbusa.
I've seen something similar going down the highway with one of the riders on their Busa, but I think with him. He didn't have everything connected like he should have. Luckily, no one was around him at the time.
Glad you are doing well!
Glad you're okay Chris!! wish you the best!!
Glad to see your back up and at it bro!!! Definitely had the good lord watching over you on that wild ride!! 💯
Thanks for the update and we're all so glad you're doing well!
Glad your still with us and in great shape considering how fast you were going.
I went down at 120. Sliding and tumbling felt like it was never going to end. I could not imagine 200. Glad you're OK chris! All and all you got away with what I would think is minimal injuries for how fast you were going. Heal up quick buddy!
ABR! Always be rolling with the camera! Glad you're here!
That would help a lot basicly spot on assement
Happy you are ok. We’ve never met but you’ve always been there to help me over the phone. Feel like we know each other as I see you on TH-cam so much.
Bro I'm glad you're getting better, thanxs for answering the left drift logic
Happy You’re ok dude, we need you to continue to break records on the track, many Blessings🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Brother I am glad you are doing better testament to wearing all your gear saves lives.
Congratulations on getting back on your feet!
Hope to see you back on the bike really soon🎉
Glad you able to walk a week after a crash like dat most ppl don’t live to tell the story. Hope road to recovery is good
Man this was so authentic. Glad your ok and thanks for the perspective you shared.
Glad your ok man, your a likable character, you ware very lucky to tell the tail with only minor injuries with that speed . May god keep you safe.
Glad you doing better Chris. Thanks for posting this video 🤙
Hey man glad you made it through the fire, and thx for making this video because we all needed to hear the how and why. The track is truly the place we need to be, now go ahead and break out that new suit you were preserving! 😅
Numerous Stewart’s and ambulances at the strip too. Glad your well and wish you a healthy recovery.
Im so glad you are ok. Thank you for making this am example of good quality gear. No temu bs
Chris glad to hear that you're doing well brother 🙏🏿 stay safe be blessed dude 😎
you da man Chris, Glad you are still around! someone upstairs really likes you
I am glad you’re okay Chris!! I like to roll race on the street more than the strip and this video just humbled me in so many ways. I am keeping it at the strip or an 1/2 mile event or whatever. I Appreciate you a lot Chris for this video.
Blessed that you’re here 🙏🏾✊🏾🏍️
Glad your OK Chris! Protective gear did it's job! 🙏 Can't wait to see the bike when it's back again.. we will be following!!
Glad you’re ok. Get healed up and don’t overdue it
I started running a dragbike @ Orlando Speed World back in the mid 80s and stayed pretty safe. Too many people were getting hurt or worse messing around racing on the street. Save it for the track folks. Thanks Chris and Country for the Public Service Announcement.. lol.
Glad you made a speedy recovery. Wouldn’t expect anything less from you lol
Great to see u already ditching the wheel chair and sounding good and positive. Enjoy life to the fullest Chris, especially on two wheels…..
Without the video people probably would’ve thought you had a 60 mile an hour slide, but that’s a good thing. Anyway glad you are ok
So glad you are okay. I highsided my bike doing sub 50mph and landed with my bike on top of me fracturing my hip clean through. You crashed at 192 and are walking 3 days later.
Happy you're back and well!💪🏿🔥
Keep and cherish those leathers and helmet, my bell helmet saved my life when I was 14, not as bad as your but I still wear it riding on occasion at 56, its a good reminder about safety equipment. Glad you are ok man
Glad your doing well Mr Moore, take it easy.😁👍🙏
You've got really big balls, man. I'm glad that everything went well, as they say, I got off with a slight fright. Greetings from Russia, keep up the good work.
Chris, I'm glad you are doing well and healing quickly. I'm sure all your fans appreciate the full details of what happened. What about cutting in some vents on the side fairings just to make sure air or possible turbulence can escape? You definitely see that on hyper racer cars. Probably look cool also. Peace ❤
Bossman glad you are good can’t wait too see you back on the bike
Glad you're ok bro. I had a similar crash this year February on my Gen 2 Hayabusa, still trying to get my bike back together. Looking forward to seeing you soon at Trinidad 🇹🇹.
Glad you’re getting better quickly and I am surprised that wasn’t more damage to the bike or you dude that had to be wicked
