Did my very first ever flex delivery today, was retail, as it was my first time it was all new and trying to figure out things, had 5 packages that were all over the place as in going north for one down south then north again but the last two were 59 miles away! I said hell to the no, marked it as undeliverable and took it back to the store. That was ridiculous and a Never again.
I was doing flex for the past 2 years but only the same day delivery 3.30am 4.30hrs shift.. it increased to $157.5 so it’s good even if they ‘throw’ you out of nowhere! You just have to be efficient in the packages sorting to gain time while delivering.. But it’s exhausting! I stopped 2 weeks ago because I need to rest before the holiday season.. amazon retails is not a great way to make money, you’re absolutely right!
How do you get the 3:30am shifts, is there a certain time that I have to check? I'm new, just finished my 2nd block today. The only offers I've seen are for 3:30pm/5pm shifts, so I've felt like I have no choice but to take what i see.... but I signed up intending on working 3am shifts a few days a week.
@@thriftypinklady I have to check everyday at exactly 7.06am, others get it at 8.23am.. you have to sit and non stop refreshing starting 6.45am until you find yours, once you find it set an alarm 2 or 3 minutes before and grab it because it’s like yours, but don’t take too much time to accept it.. 7.06am I grab is for the next 2 days block example: today’s (Tuesday) 7.06 is for Thursday.. not all found their dedicated but as long as you work many regularly..
I don’t take retail or warehouse blocks unless there is serious surge pay. Retail routes have the worst miles to money ratio. Whole Foods instant offers are still the most profitable and you can decline them without penalty. I like to keep Amazon availability turned on while I am doing Spark, Uber, etc. Fat stacks!
I'm very new to Amazon FLEX and I really appreciate your videos sir! I haven't done my first route yet so I'm trying to watch every video I can to learn how to be efficient and good at this as a side gig. What happens if nobody claims a route? I noticed multiple routes for 1:30 were not claimed at 1:29 then I refreshed my phone at 1:32 and they no longer appeared, which makes sense to me considering 1:30 had come and gone. I consider it unlikely someone grabbed all 4 them. I was just curious if you had any knowledge on what occurs if there is literally nobody to deliver a package route? Thank you!
Totally understand your frustration with support. Amazon is one of the worst for supports. I’ve gone through that same exact scenario many times and it’s super frustrating and they appear to do nothing to improve.
Same happens to me very often here in Miami/Fort Lauderdale area, I pick up block from Tamarac warehouse, which is 11 miles from me. But delivery is 45 miles from the warehouse. I have to drive back home around 45-50 miles. Good part that I have a Uber/Lyft account too, so I can make some money on the way back home.
You can’t cancel without severe repercussions. I went from an excellent standing to almost being kicked off of Flex because I canceled one. Right now I’m in low fair because the app stopped working, and I couldn’t deliver and they’re penalizing me for it. I have emailed Driver Support multiple times With no resolution, and they finally told me today to stop emailing them about this and that their decision is final. I’m so tired of dealing with people not even from this country who don’t understand the variables of our neighborhoods and street systems. And there’s no way to contact anybody to help. The guy told me that they’re not helping me anymore on any situation and that I’m completely on my own.
Besides Whole Foods & Amazon Fresh deliveries (thanks to customer’s tips), I am always discouraged to do Amazon Flex because of not knowing where we’re delivering, the miles and how many drop-offs. I did it a few times out of curiosity and end up doing 30+ deliveries for over 75 miles (and not counting the same or bit higher amount of miles heading back home) in a 3 and half hour shift. Therefore, this is why I always chose Walmart Spark over Amazon Flex. Don’t mind dealing with the long wait time at Walmart instead of unknown variables that comes with Amazon Flex.
Amazon retail delivers are rhe worst. Only a few stops but always alot of driving/miles. Take these at your own risk and always check the route, alot if times it makes more sense to do it in reverse
Its extra bad for you because you are in Pittsburgh. I do not live in the area but have been several times and what I learnt was because of the mountains and twisty roads traffic is awful. It takes a very long time to get anywhere. Especially on that south end you are at. Because there are no major east-west roads, only north-south. I quickly learnt that when the GPS says something is 7 or 8 miles away, that sounds close, but it literally takes a half hour or close to get there. It's real hard to get from someplace like Baldwin or Bethel Park over to say Bridgeville or Cannonsburg.
flex in my area expanded the delivery area to like an hour away from the store. I have literally driven an 45 mins in one direction and had to go like an hour in the opposite direction. Then its an hour or more home. I am driving less and less for flex.
All these apps lack transparency for a reason. They know you getting screwed on distance. They have to hide it or none would take it. You curse spark but they give it all to you upfront and let you choose. It's the most fair app out there

Apps crashing etc exactly. Curiously how much money is going into the servers etc to keep it running. I get things happen but there’s people out there that really need this money, I was broke at one point stressing about every order so I feel for those people.
I have been doing this for a year out of sheer desperation from massive student loan bills coming due and I hate Amazon so much from all the things I’ve experienced. We did the math and I make $2.80 power hour after car expenses/mileage/gas/tires every six months.
They need to show us the miles and the route before we show up to the warehouse let’s say when we accept the route we could see how far it’s going to take us and we could drop it. That’s one of the things I hated about flex one day I drove 25 miles the next 60 it’s insane.
I had a bad experience doing flex yesterday for an Office Depot. They had zero packages ready for me and the employees were clueless. Won’t do an Office Depot delivery ever again
I always call. I don’t text. But I know what you’re talking about. It takes away from time trying to get them to call you, wait music, selections, then get to rep that asks you questions and not always does it go through
I had one of the most bogus routes ever for Amazon fresh in Edina, Minnesota.. the first 4 stops were within 5 miles of the store its was a "piece of cake" until i saw that the last stop was in Randolph, Minnesota which was 57 miles away 😟. Total payout was $56. The long distance customer didnt tip but the rest did.
Wow! Had this exact same scenario today with Office Depot! Two orders that were non existent and 30 minutes to get competent support on how to remove them and move forward with the deliveries. I hope more people click on this before doing a retail order 🚫
For these retail it will give you the route before walking inside the retail store you have the option to not click on accept the route. If you do not like the route Let the order keep coming in until they send you a new route, it might take 20 mins of waiting and turning off service tho also arrive on time to the retail location parking lot or the block will be forfitted and not paid.
Amazon Flex is definitely either decent earnings or just absolute garbage blocks. I've only been doing it since June 2023 and from what I've seen and read, it all depends on what region you're in, status and how often surge pricing happens. Miles to dollar ratio is Awful. But there are some routes where in total it's 70 miles round trip and it happens to be a $140 block for 3-4 hours. Flip side, Worst Route I'd ever taken was $88 , 3 hours, they sent me to Salem, OR from Portland 😂. My total mileage that day was 155 miles. Half a tank for me was $30. So in total it was a $58 day. Alot more can be said but love the videos Mike keep it up!
I appreciate the kind words! Yeah Flex is tough bc what’s the strategy? Sign up as late as possible to a shift and get the bonus pay then cross your fingers on the route? I really like Flex but mathematically as mentioned in the video it struggles
I've done about 4 retail Office depot routes here in Dallas. Leave that garbage alone. Lol soon as you started the video i was saying i wonder if you get screwed like i do. Associate is no help and you have to call or chat. No way to mark package as missing. It's absolutely garbage for about 3-5 stops.
Did you try pressing manually enter package ID ? If you press that there should be an icon on the top right side after you click on it and you can report it missing. I could be wrong though..
I've never done retail delivery for Flex. I like to stick to what I know (Fresh, SSD & Logistics), because those seem easier to do. However, SSD has always been the one where I make the most money. I've seen Retail pop up, but I'm iffy about those. Support is always a hit or miss when trying to get something figured out or fixed, and Idk why. Like..come on!! Anyways, thanks for this informative video.
That’s any Amazon order, but I love the retail ship because I did three packages which I knew they were going to Melbourne because I was in Merritt Island at that time because I got paid to be out there with this and I did some Walmart orders and on top of it I picked up which was three stop bring up the Melbourne and they were closed together and I made almost $50 on that less than an hour And then on top of it I picked up another order near Melbourne and one trip which I made $35 that I made $76 an hour
I usually don’t care if problems arise as I’m moreso making content vs needing the app earnings but the long drive to the pickup, app problems, customer service problems etc all for $19/hr was frustrating. I thought about pulling back on the natural response but you deserve transparency! When these apps don’t work correctly I’m going to lean into them because there’s so many people that do rely on this extra income
@@YourDriverMike oh I totally agree the worst I've seen is with Uber eats sending you on a Walmart delivery and it says one item and they come out with a grocery cart full of bags . One time they had two cart fulls o groceries and when I called support they told me that I should have just canceled the order well I explained to them that they should not have labeled it one item if it was 15 to 20 bags
I took a 1 1/2 hr for $42 retail got to the store two packages of shoes one somewhat close the other 35 miles to Philly when I live in Delaware packages stayed right at the store and still got paid I didn’t want to get paid just wanted it to be a missed block
Dear Your Driver Mike, Have you ever heard of the Pittsburgh Pirates? Have you ever been to PNC Park? If so, when was the last time you went? Thank you, Your Passenger Matt
You’re talking about typical every day experiences that I have with Amazon. Driver support is absolutely useless 99% of the time. They won’t mark packages as delivered when the dot doesn’t align up with where you’re standing or anything else. Sometimes it takes three or four phone calls or multiple emails to get a resolution. Amazon Support does not care about Flex drivers whatsoever
Go to the part where it says scan, as if you where going to deliver the item. Stop at that screen and on the top right hand corner there is a question mark. Click that option then you will get the option to mark delivery as missing. Gota be smarter than the app my dude

The way I read that it says you can deduct 'outside that metropolitan area' with the metro area being within city limits and suburbs. I always work within the Pittsburgh city limits and suburbs so wouldn't transportation costs (commuting miles) be non deductible as stated on the last line?
@@YourDriverMike (Not a CPA or tax professional either.) I go by what the US Census Bureau defines as the metropolitan area I live in. If my last flex drop off is outside of that boundary, I deduct the miles back home. A lot of my flex shifts are right before or after working DD, UE etc so the in between miles aren't commuting either.
Trust me I don’t get frustrated often as I make my income from TH-cam but this was ridiculous from the app not working to the rep not helping to the fact that I knew this was going to be a long run. I thought hey should I taper back the frustration? Nah I need to be real 😂😂
Flex hasn't been profitable enough for my time and fuel. Wound making like $7 or $8 an hour after expenses. Amazon knows they are getting over on the Flex drivers.
To start? So it takes me 25 min to the one Amazon warehouse here. 25-30 min to Walmarts for Spark. 15 min to Gopuffs new warehouse and 8 min to my food delivery starting zone. The shorter the better but commuting isn’t necessarily bad if it’ll make you great money. Flex has never really made me great money though
Anytime there is a problem, delay, screwups, sketch I cancel the delivery and turn off the app and go do something else. You curse spark but their driver support is pretty darn good, almost instant. If not just cancel and turn it off. Next
I've worked on Flex for over 5 years and they are typically good. As mentioned I usually get a call immediately, but not this time and not after many requests for a call. I understand things happen it's just frustrating. On to the next one though!
Why are you taking retail deliveries for 19 an hour??? I only take them when they are increased to at least 27 an hour or really 31 an hour. The miles on these block are really high and even at these peak hourly pay it is semi worth it. So 2hr block should be $62 and 2.5hr block should be $77.5. Why are you doing it at 19 an hour and complaining, you did it to yourself
Also if you need to have a missing package remove just call them, the rep in chat can’t do anything and is a waste of time. I called many times and it gets taking care of in 2 minutes or less.
I'm going to leave this comment up instead of deleting it. Fair warning with the name-calling, next time it will be a ban. I took the $19/hr to make content as mentioned in this video (and other Flex shifts if you've watched those). Also as mentioned in the video I tried getting on a call with support and no one would call me after 6 requests.
@@YourDriverMike Fair enough, I do actually appreciate the response, wasn’t expecting a response. I’ll remove the name calling just for that. Not sure why you couldn’t get support on call normally they instantly pick up if you are on a shift. But everything I said still applies
@@henrytran1187 I appreciate that, hey I hear you I'd take $25/hr+ shifts but sometimes if I wait too long the block gets taken or it never gets increased that high. I suppose the pay frustration is from how bad Flex is combined with the atrocious mileage on this shift.

They. Don’t. Care.
Bottom line. They just don’t care. We are slaves.
This is why I stopped doing Flex. Too many miles not enough pay.
All Amazon support is out the country I hate it.
amazon flex has to be the most dumbest app to use out of the big 5, how is anyone making money doing flex is my question
Is that a microphone?😮
Y’all ain’t figured out these technical problems are intentional. They like to make us spend a lot on gas too. It’s all gov owned people
Is anybody else flex not loading
I had a problem two days ago where it wouldn't let me go past the package scanning screen. The app just an update today.
After contacting Kristoffer_Support from the comment section, I’m happy to say I’m back on Amazon flex.Much love to everyone who commented
don't just work for almost free to help them make billions
You waisting gas and your car
