Got an electron Envy… After a week bought 5 more in different plastics. Regret buying the other plastics but the Electron Firm and Soft were game changers to me.
Received the glow Envy in my Christmas 2022 Gyropalooza box and after trial throwing all the discs in the box, the Envy and Wave immediately went into my bag. The Buzzz is still my favorite disc but the Envy will replace it on some shorter fairway shots.
Zone, Buzzz, and Destroyer are sitting on my shelf. Envy and Pyro are such a great combo together and so reliable. Tilt is so amazing if used correctly. Main issue with the Tilt is that it is easy to have it become a crutch. For me, it was so good on anything 200ft in that I started to solely rely on it. Had to shelf it to work on other aspects of my game. The other disc my son bought that I admit is good is the Berg. Only issue I have with the Berg is that it feels like I have to throw it hard to go anywhere. It is very reliable, but I feel like I rather power down an Envy for the same result.
Switch to a splice. It’s a more usable tilt. Tilt got me to use more overstable approach discs for under 200ft. FD3 would be a step down. Nate sexton 21 firebird, and any beat up star firebird. The tilt started it all for me.
Honestly, outside of the tilt, I wouldn't put any of these in the overrated column. I definitely agree that it's just an issue with being first, not worst. I am a big advocate of trying new brands/ new plastics but some discs just always find their way back into the bag.
Last year I was bagging all of those but the tilt. There are plenty of benefits to bagging the most popular molds, imo. First of all, you know they are decent discs, there isn't a question there. The used market is also better and you are more likely to naturally stumble across used discs you can bag. Availability is usually better in all aspects as priority is put into keeping supply of the popular molds, they also get first crack at being run in new plastics and get plenty of special runs and stamps. I am also an amateur and I need to spend my winnings on something and it's nice knowing I'll be able to get something I like at pretty much any tournament or store I go to.
My problem with the Buzzz is it just feels like an old mold. There’s so many mids out there with a similar flight that feel better in the hand now (at least to me).
Hilarious list, I loved it. What I love most is that from one spot on the list to the next I either love or hate the selection. The Envy is my new favorite putter but I also can’t stand the Buzzz 😂
I've had an envy in my bag since 2015 back when I used it as an actual putter. Now that I just it as a throwing putter it's the most reliable disc I have in my bag.
Finally the Destroyer is on this list. As it should be. It's not the best for most people, not even pros, but EVERYONE and their moms seems to throw at least 4 in their bag. You don't need one. There are a ton of similar alternatives as well. Great disc tho.
@@Algorythmfpv I mean it is the same with a Zone or a Buzzz, there are alternatives that can work way better for different individuals BUT they are indeed great discs. But the Destroyer is WEIRDLY popular imo when you think about the average players armspeed and the amount of options out there

Berg, Zone, Envy. Great discs all in my bag, useful in their own way. Berg: touch shots in forest (When zone is too beef) FH/BH, great for downhill shots and windy days. Zone: reliable FH/BH, the disc speaks for itself tbh. Envy: BH mainly, perfectly compliments my pure that I bag, has good glide and decent stability, flies similar to teebird3 but slower. Envy + Pure has basically made bagging a midrange obsolete. (I still have a emac truth though). they are probably slightly overhyped, but they've all truly improved my own game. PS. Highly recommend giving Gstar plastic a go. They are by far my go to disc for any max distance shots. Would be cool to see a video about them on this channel :)
I finally bought into the hype and got me a glow envy now during black friday, and I also got a proxy. I throw the Proxy way more than the Envy, just feels so much more workable. Like to me the Envy just feels a tad too understable to fill what I'd want from it, I want an overstable approach disc to be able to fight out of some anhyzer and it feels like the Envy just doesn't like I'd expect a 02 to do, especially considering how much more stable the eclipse discs are vs other plastics. Still going to bag it for a while though, but def loving the Proxy more!

That foundation Buzzz is so cool. It changes color with sunlight. The plastic feels great. I feel like firebird is could be considered overrated but I love mine.

Yep! Heard about the inconsistency with innova, looked for discs LIKE a wraith, finally thought, I'll just get a wraith. Brought a lime green star plastic, was perfect, flew just like the flight numbers would suggest. Then I brought a backup for it, same weight, slightly different colour, still star plastic. Flippy AF. They also feel completely different. Never had two discs that should be so similar, be so inconsistent. Probably will never touch innova again as a result. Get a streamline trace in any of their plastics, they fly the way the "perfect" wraith (imo) should.
I agree with the zone being over rated. I feel like the harp is a better option for me personally. It’s not that the zone isn’t good, it’s just not as great as I hoped it would be. I finally got an envy and I use it for putting. I’ve been trying to replace my beat up dd marshal that I’ve been using forever, and the envy filled that role. When I started the marshal was my double duty putter. I used it off the tee, for approach shots, and for putting. The envy is super similar in flight characteristics, and similar in feel to the marshal minus the micro bead.

I recently got a Kastaplast Grym x that flies similar. But the destroyer will probably remain one of my favorite discs I've bagged. And I know I'll probably never find another just like it.
I wanted the Destroyer before I knew how popular it was because, as a very casual player, I just want any decent disc that also looks rad, and imo some of the Destroyer stamps are the best ones out there (for my personal taste)
100% legitimate to say the Tilt is overhyped. But to say it's just for laughs is definitely ignorant. As I commented somewhere: If you baseball throw a tilt (RHBH), and put some juice on it, at 150ish ft it will make a 90° turn to the right. Wildly useful in wooded courses, and highly controllable.
I love my Buzzz but I don't go around telling everyone to get one. Almost every friend I get to try out disc golf I heavily recommend the Lat 64 Fuse to cuz I think it is probably the best neutral flying mid and that is what all of them want a go straight disc.

Disagreeing with the rest because to me Envy, Tilt and Buzzz have been exactly what they're supposed to be. With the exception of baseline Envy, that's a different disc. Would add: - Cloudbreaker. It's a random DD3 run with a new stamp on it - Sexton Firebird. Could also add regular Firebird for having been "the" OS 9-speed for so long while being actually too overstable for average players (except for extreme utility cases)
Talking about tilt, how many players know this discraft Xtreme? It is speed 6 fairway driver, glide 3, turn 1 and fade 4. It's crazy overstable. I can't throw it more than 80 meters, if I throw it on huge anhyzer it gets up almost immediately and then it starts to fade already. I think it used to be made like really early when discraft started to make disc golf discs. Then they made some special edition discs few years ago. Really crazy one, can't find any good use for that disc🤣
The only one I agree with is the Tilt. I think it's more of a novelty - not very many people can actually use that disc reliably in their bag. The rest are there for a reason. I could have just as easily said a Roc or Aviar is overrated. They're popular for a reason. Pros throw them for a reason. They're good discs. People want to bash on the Zone and Buzzz because Paul McBeth plays them, and then when people pick them up and throw them like s***, they think it's the disc's fault. I have an ESP Buzzz in my bag and love it. I also putt with Envys and love those. I also love to throw Eagles, but not because I saw Calvin Heimburg do it - those discs just work for me.
Might be bias cause the envy was the first disc my buddy gave me to get me into playing so I love that disc. Will probably always bag one, along with the pyro.
I bagged all 3 until I got my Jomez Envy signed by James, Jonathan, and 15 others, so I couldn't put that back in the bag. 2 z zones, an ESP Buzzz, and Sparkle Liberty Buzzz. I only bag a destroyer cause I got it from AB at the distance contest at USDGC. Bag a good beat in Zues, though, so basically, 2 destroyers lol
Been throwing destroyers since they were released and they are not what they were at first. I still bag 2 and that are ok. New ones are More stable than early PFN star plastic for sure. There are several new molds now that fly closer to how old school destroyers flew I think. I Bag 2 buzzz and one wasp tooled buzzz ss. The buzz is a no wind, specific line disc that is not stable enough to be forgiving for newer players who have not dialed in angle control. Thats why I think new players may struggle with them.
I 100% agree that the Buzzz is SUPER overrated! I have tried to like it, but I just don't. If anything, it is my water disc. If I lose it in the pond or creek... no big deal. So many better options. I love the Clash Berry and the Discraft Mind Bender... anything but the Buzzz.
With so many high quality discs out there that have the same flights as these, the most popular discs will be the most overrated, regardless of quality. The difference between a zone, entropy, pig, etc. Is negligible and comes down to preference in hand feel and plastics.
buzzes, destroyers, and a zone sit on my shelf, along with a hundred other discs that have no place in my bag. you have to throw a lot of discs before you know what works for you.
Anyone else feeling exposed, I bag and enjoy all these discs. Tried replacing my Zone, Buzz and Destroyer multiple times and keep going back. Envy and tilt late comers but filled slots in my bag.
The tilt being voted the most overrated is overrated on it’s own. If you’ve thrown this in a pinch where this type of mold is needed…there is nothing like it out there!
I just made 2 new friends on the golf course and i threw his zone and he threw my anchor. I like the anchor alot better has a touch more glide and goes straighter with reliable finish
I do love my Prism Plasma Envy. It is a very consistent disc when I'm 50-150' out. It is my #1 approach disc... so I don't agree with the voters there.
I agree with the Buzzz because I have played with so many more mids after trying the Buzzz and those other stable to slightly overstable mids have made my bag not the Buzzz. Buzzz Buzzz Buzzz

All classic discs. Only overrated disc on this list is the tilt, people are just haters and want to be different😂. Until there is a big advancement in disc technology, you should bag at least 2-3 of the discs on this list.
I've been throwing zones for 12 years. I have sooo many of them. Why would I change? If another disc flies "just like a zone" then it doesn't make sense to change from what I already have. If it isn't exactly like a zone ... then it isn't going to do what a want and I don't need it anyways. This argument is stupid. Same goes for the Buzzz. Throw what works.
I do not think the envy is overrated but that's just my opinion like around my area I've me and 3 other people I know I've only seen throw an envy irl but besides a guy I've met that putts with them I just like it cause of the amazing speed and glide it has
It's not magic. Discs go left, right, center. All companies make discs that do the same thing. I think it's really about a branding that appeals to you. Why is a zone over rated just because another company makes something similar?
What works for some doesn't work for others. It's really that simple. I can't throw an envy well, but for James Conrad it's a samurai sword. What does that say about the envy? Nothing.

IMO the envy is the best throwing putter. Super torque resistant and multiple plastic types yield a variety of flights. It may be overrated still.

I think the tilt isn't overrated. Nobody is calling the tilt good, everyone just knows it's a meme disc. I'd say it's fairly rated if anything

tilt is 100% unique, and it flies true to its purpose. Its just a utility disc.

Might be bias cause the envy was the first disc my buddy gave me to get me into playing so I love that disc. Will probably always bag one, along with the pyro.

I bag the buzzz, envy, and zone lol
I bagged all 3 until I got my Jomez Envy signed by James, Jonathan, and 15 others, so I couldn't put that back in the bag. 2 z zones, an ESP Buzzz, and Sparkle Liberty Buzzz. I only bag a destroyer cause I got it from AB at the distance contest at USDGC. Bag a good beat in Zues, though, so basically, 2 destroyers lol
Been throwing destroyers since they were released and they are not what they were at first. I still bag 2 and that are ok. New ones are More stable than early PFN star plastic for sure. There are several new molds now that fly closer to how old school destroyers flew I think.
I Bag 2 buzzz and one wasp tooled buzzz ss. The buzz is a no wind, specific line disc that is not stable enough to be forgiving for newer players who have not dialed in angle control. Thats why I think new players may struggle with them.

I 100% agree that the Buzzz is SUPER overrated! I have tried to like it, but I just don't. If anything, it is my water disc. If I lose it in the pond or creek... no big deal. So many better options. I love the Clash Berry and the Discraft Mind Bender... anything but the Buzzz.
I definitely see the argument for the Envy. The baseline ones beat in really nicely but they’re misleading to most people.
With so many high quality discs out there that have the same flights as these, the most popular discs will be the most overrated, regardless of quality. The difference between a zone, entropy, pig, etc. Is negligible and comes down to preference in hand feel and plastics.
I think the most overrated disc is the wraith. A good one is a must bag driver but inconsistent runs kicked it out of my bag.

I agree here. I had one amazing Wraith, lost it, and can’t find a single one that flies the same. I dumped the wraith after that.

Traces fly the way a 'good' (to me) wraith should. MVPs plastic and flights seem to be really consistent also
buzzes, destroyers, and a zone sit on my shelf, along with a hundred other discs that have no place in my bag. you have to throw a lot of discs before you know what works for you.
So all the good discs that save me strokes are overrated....geesh
Anyone else feeling exposed, I bag and enjoy all these discs. Tried replacing my Zone, Buzz and Destroyer multiple times and keep going back. Envy and tilt late comers but filled slots in my bag.
I just ordered a Tilt! I wouldn't buy it if it weren't for Simon though. I also own three Envy's. I think it is a great disc for any and everybody.
The tilt being voted the most overrated is overrated on it’s own. If you’ve thrown this in a pinch where this type of mold is needed…there is nothing like it out there!

A champion Destroyer is fantastic and is the main reason I throw the Wraith.
Imagine thinking the Destroyer is overrated 😂. It set the standard and now every company has ripped it off, but it’s still the best option by far
I use my tilt 2-3 times a round and it always works perfect for me
I just made 2 new friends on the golf course and i threw his zone and he threw my anchor. I like the anchor alot better has a touch more glide and goes straighter with reliable finish
As someone who bags a tilt, it's a very utility disc. You just need to learn how to master it.
I do love my Prism Plasma Envy. It is a very consistent disc when I'm 50-150' out. It is my #1 approach disc... so I don't agree with the voters there.
I agree with the Buzzz because I have played with so many more mids after trying the Buzzz and those other stable to slightly overstable mids have made my bag not the Buzzz. Buzzz Buzzz Buzzz
The Envy cannot possibly be overrated when it is the greatest disc ever made. It is the perfect stable putter.

All classic discs. Only overrated disc on this list is the tilt, people are just haters and want to be different😂. Until there is a big advancement in disc technology, you should bag at least 2-3 of the discs on this list.
I've been throwing zones for 12 years. I have sooo many of them. Why would I change? If another disc flies "just like a zone" then it doesn't make sense to change from what I already have. If it isn't exactly like a zone ... then it isn't going to do what a want and I don't need it anyways. This argument is stupid. Same goes for the Buzzz. Throw what works.

I do not think the envy is overrated but that's just my opinion like around my area I've me and 3 other people I know I've only seen throw an envy irl but besides a guy I've met that putts with them I just like it cause of the amazing speed and glide it has
It's not magic. Discs go left, right, center. All companies make discs that do the same thing. I think it's really about a branding that appeals to you. Why is a zone over rated just because another company makes something similar?
What works for some doesn't work for others. It's really that simple. I can't throw an envy well, but for James Conrad it's a samurai sword. What does that say about the envy? Nothing.
My two go to pitters are the proxy and envy both glow.
