I played college baseball and an old team mate got me to try the sport. I thought it was for hippies but I quickly learned it’s a lot harder than it looks. If you are up for a challenge try to learn to get a disc over a football field in the air- took me a solid year of practice. And of course the top pros throw twice that far lol
YES JOMBOY!!! This is worthy of a Jomboy video. I don't think the average person really comprehends the weight of this moment. With 6 holes to play, McBeth went on a streak of 5 birdies in a row. He was putting the pedal to the metal, shutting the door like he's done so many times before. James, on that 6th to last hole, parred to go one back. But then he ALSO went on a streak of 5 birdies in a row, birdie-ing the final 5 holes, including the shot you just witnessed. And what's insane is, if James Conrad's tee shot doesn't hit that tree, and if he's not forced to lay up to the dog-leg corner, then McBeth would've probably gone for the green and played for birdie. But he figured he had a stroke to play with and laid it up. There's a shot of McBeth seeing it go in if you watch the Jomez coverage and even he has the open mouth action going on, and dare I say he even smiled a bit. Hard not to when you just witnessed the greatest shot in disc golf history.

@@soth1solI know it’s 2 years later, but… If disc golf was a mainstream sport, this would hands down be regarded as the most insane moment in sports history.
I've been playing and watching disc golf for 7 years now. This IS the biggest shot I have ever seen. From that distance, a throw in can be attributed to luck. BUT James was trying to throw this one in, he had to if he was going to force the playoff and win.

@Doesn't Jump to conclusions my buddy grip locked one of his into a pond, jumped in to go get it, and stepped on broken glass. Antibiotics, stitches, and a month of crutches. I hear ya there lol
One of the craziest things about this tournament is that, in the previous round, James Conrad scored an Ace (aka hole in one) on hole 16 and everyone thought that was the greatest thing we were going to see in the tournament, then he steps up with the championship on the line and sinks an even greater shot to force the tiebreaker.
I was worried when James had to get a completely new bag this season but he obviously took that in stride and found the replacements. he definitely deserved a title!
Its a very easy sport to get into. Jomez covers all the tournaments on youtube every week. Almost all courses are free to play, and you can get decent discs on amazon for about $10 each.

Seriously. 5 straight birdies from Paul. James and Kevin Jones matching stroke for stroke with long putts all the way to the end. Just incredible golf that reminds casual players how bad we actually are.

For Conrad to win the world championship in this fashion over an opponent as renound as Paul McBeth. It's every kids dream. This is exactly like hitting a game winning buzzer beater over MJ to win the championship. JC is literally the Jesus of the sport. He's the nicest dude on the whole planet. And yes, listen to the other dude that commented and get a zone.
Been playing competitively for 5 years. He just changed the sport forever in the best possible way. So excited for the future of DISC GOLF! It's an amazing escape that fits all skill levels. Good exercise, good self control, and mentally pulls you away from all of the bullshit. Great recap man. Love your stuff!!!
I couldn't have said it better.
Me too brother! Been playing since 2000
@Doesn't Jump to conclusions my buddy grip locked one of his into a pond, jumped in to go get it, and stepped on broken glass. Antibiotics, stitches, and a month of crutches. I hear ya there lol
TIL Jomboy knows his disc golf jargon! You got me with "the dancing plague of 1518" 🤣
Dude I laughed so hard thank you for catching that
I've never played a hole in my life..but I gotta say..I never get tired of watching this!!!
Honestly this has got to be one of the greatest moments in SPORTS history.
Lol
@@kevinbushracing58 you just don’t know and it’s understandable. Go play
Yeah, if this was a mainstream sport it would hands down be the greatest moment in sports history.
This has got to be the best breakdown in the history of breakdowns
Conrad's ability to compose himself and make this shot while being under immense competition pressure, is what makes this shot so impressive.
Also the fact he seemed to know how unlikely it was to make, even he was surprised.
With the sun in his face too lol
Behind tree cover and having to bend it around
Just got into disc golf a few months ago and seeing it here makes me so happy.
As a tremendous fan of disc golf, and Jomboy, this makes me very happy.
What the crap? you just made me become all excited over a sport I didn't even know existed until right now LOL
In the old days, we had ABC's Wide World of Sports. Today we have Jomboy
Ever watch Cheap Seats? I have had that whole series downloaded for ages, it's classic.
**The one guy in the terrific ski wreck in WWOS intro
So this is what it feels like for people to not understand baseball but to love jomboy.
This comment is almost as underrated as this shot is. You should try it (disc golf). It’s fun but challenging and usually free to play.
I’ve always been a fan of Conrad, but after watching him this weekend I’m an air conditioner.
Totally LOL'ed at this. Well played
That was a super lame joke dad, but I like it lol
I was worried when James had to get a completely new bag this season but he obviously took that in stride and found the replacements. he definitely deserved a title!
@@hotfiyah we named our horse Mayo and sometimes mayonnaise. That's a proper dad joke.
I don't get it. And yes, I feel a little stupid
“American swimsuit blond hair man” is my spirit animal
When you casually use Hyzer in a sentence and realize nobody knows what that means…
Outside edge tilted down, haha. It accentuates the normal finish of a disc, but I feel like you know that.
Or when you say Anhyzer and someone thinks you're talking about beer.
Or when you say anhyzer and they think you're talking about beer

@@chrismacku8471 My Anheusers always fly into the Busch
I love that jomboy is so knowledgeable about disc golf
he's done several disc golf breakdowns so he has some familiarity with the sport. I imagine he got a TON of emails and DMs asking for this one
@@MJCx777 he's played it in the past. Don't know if he still does
@@MJCx777 I’z one of em ;)
God bless Jomboy for covering one of the most clutch sports moments of all time, and for sure the best disc golf shot in history!
Good looking, Jomboy. Fan of many of your videos. Glad to see Disc Golf getting some respect.
Yeah...if only I knew. What an evolution and absolutely pivotal moment.
I like how Calvin had an open mouth for a second. Then instantly closed it and went back to stone face vinny lol
Hyzer, Forehand, Jomboy knows what he is talking about. Such an amazing thing to watch. Thank you for sharing our sport.
I'm sure a million people requested this, but I was one of them so thank you jomboy!!!
Me too!
Never have I heard of Disc Golf. Never have I been a fan. Now Jomboy has covered it. I now love disc golf.
Check out jomez for the coverage of this event. Its amazingly well produced
It’s an amazing sport. Welcome to your new addiction :)
Its a very easy sport to get into. Jomez covers all the tournaments on youtube every week. Almost all courses are free to play, and you can get decent discs on amazon for about $10 each.
No Frisbee? Still love it!
@@pjeffries301 frisbee really isn't in the disc golf game.
The marker dudes and the blond haired guy jumping in the water 😂
Jomboy covering the shot heard round the world?!?! Ya got my sub bud. Disc golf has been blessed by the human highlight reeling Jesus hair having clutch master James Conrad and now Jomboy! LETS GOO!!!
I was watching this live. I screamed and ran around the room.
My wife told me to be quiet but I couldn’t 😂
Mouth open, I assume? Lol
@@jelly7310 That’s the only way my friend. 😂
@@TitanUnlimited LET'S GO!!!!
I almost gave my wife a heart attack when i screamed when it went in. I wanted him or nate sexton to win then whole tournament.
To make that shot anytime would be a great feeling. To make that shot with the crowd noise, to beat the best disc golfer ever for the championship😱🤘 thanks for covering this moment jomboy!🍻
My first thought: You can't be serious, what even is this...
Two minutes in: WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT I CAN'T BELIEVE HE JUST DID THAT!!!
Sick shit, you should definitely try it.
@@TheodoreBrosevelt I'd somehow manage to hit myself in the face, no thanks lol
@@serpico1616 Can confirm, trees are not always your friend
It’s a lot of fun man you should try it. Grab some friends, beers, and a j or two if you’re into that and go walk around a nice course and rip shots at a a basket.
The game I love got the Jomboy treatment. Hell yeah. Btw the entire round was a grind and an all-time classic before the shot heard 'round the world.
Holy sh- thank you for doing this JM! I was the guy who asked on FB and hopefully you already were ahead me ;) great minds
Much appreciation for the justice done and respect shown by Jomboy in this well done recap of what was an incredible, historic moment for those of us that follow the DGPT. Disc golf is a fantastic, emerging sport that has an awesome collection of professionals who showcase an exceedingly high level of skill…and to have it on full display in Jomboy’s channel is just amazing. It’s always cool when my worlds collide like this.
This is the *most clutch moment* ever. In fact, for all, watch the last bit of the final round, from hole 12 onwards. It's the best of disc golf that you'll ever see. Incredible drivers, _clutch_ putts, and of course *THIS* shot from backhand Jesus himself, James Conrad.
This-----^
And to give credit where credit was due, Paul was also on fire. He didn't make it easy at any point. James just was the better man.
I can imagine all these new people finding the sport from all this attention, and being like oh this looks easy let me go do this lmao. Such incredible discgolf was played by Paul and James down the stretch.
@@seymourglass26 yeah he was going off, wasnt his round 4 like a 10 under? At the fort no less?!?!
Seriously. 5 straight birdies from Paul. James and Kevin Jones matching stroke for stroke with long putts all the way to the end. Just incredible golf that reminds casual players how bad we actually are.
This shot is giving the sport even more traction. Loving it
*Innova:* "James, we're not gonna resign you because you're not marketable enough"
*Also Innova:* "Well crap..."
Oooffff!!!
love the MVP representation at the peak of the sport. fantastic discs!
MVP wins big on this one
MVP haters: "James Conrad will never stand a chance now that he switched to MVP!"
MVP are great discs. Hard to find these days.
Dang. I knew Jimmy was good at breakdowns, but I had no idea how much he knows about disc golf. I had low expectations for this, but honestly I couldn’t have done it better myself.
Thank you for covering this so well and so accurately
terminology, all the information conveyed great!
I can't believe jomboy is breaking this down. So cool. Grats James.
USA Today broke it down. Everybody's on board, and Jomboy was on this stuff before it was headline news.
It was on ESPN and Jomboy plays disc golf. It’s a great sport. Way harder than people realize that have never tried it but it’s a fun challenge. Gets you outside and it’s usually free to play.
I kind of expected it on ESPN given the weight of the shot and all; I was just particularly excited to see it on Jomboy. I still can't believe it went in.
@@TheNothingsOriginal me too. I’m used to seeing disc golf on the normal outlets. It’s always a little more exciting somehow when Jomboy does a disc golf video. Especially this one.
Finally someone outside of disc golf that does this whole scenario justice. It was amazing to watch it live on a stream. Mark my words, disc golf is growing extremely fast. Already had time on major channels and it's only a matter of time before it's on live on major networks.
Absolutely!! Jomboy showed this some love. ESPN posted it on their Facebook as the sportscenter top 10 #1 for the day. The comment section was brutality. All your stereotypical people that know nothing about it, immediately dismissing and ridiculing it. Plus the normal load of butthurt ball golfers.
I watched this and said "yes" to the next disc golf outing with friends. Was my first time, I wasn't that bad, 10/10 would do it again
That's a badass trophy. Just a massive bell. So awesome.
FUCK YES I'm so glad that you're covering disc golf now
There was another person that posted a “breakdown” that was, essentially, just stolen footage for a replay. I really appreciated your commentary and different angles showing James’ reaction. That’s the type of stuff I was interested in.
I lost my mind when this shot went in. And I do love that McBeth has given James mad props for hitting it.
He knows that the prize money is chump change, compared to his sponsorship money. Not to mention what he knew that shot would do for the future of the sport!
I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of seeing this video. Have seen it probably ten times over the years since it happened and every single time it still makes me HAPPY!
The fact I watched this event, I am an avid competitive disc golfer and didn't know this video existed is wild. Got a new subscriber. I appreciate the respectful representation of disc golf. Lots of people try and say it's not a sport. I assure you, it is.
I love Jomboy even though I don't play or watch baseball. As an avid disc golfer, this makes me so happy!
Same here. I feel like baseball is super boring to watch but I love the breakdowns.
Absolutely love disc golf, absolutely love jomboy… what a breakdown, let’s gooo
McBeth should have competed hereafter. There would have been time for such a shot.
I know it’s spelled differently, but this is the only chance I’ll ever have for a MacBeth reference.
did you watch the SC Top 10?? Literally five minutes of Macbeth lines ahahaahaha it was amazing
On the real though, Paul McBeth was playing exceptionally the whole day. James had no easy path, but he still made it happen.
There would have been time? Not at this petty pace. Maybe tomorrow & tomorrow & tomorrow.
"It is a tale told by an idiot"
Pretty apt description of Jomboy Media there
@@bcdm999 Out, damned spot
I've been watching this constantly the last couple days.. now I get to with Jomboy commentary!!! I'll probably watch this a hundred times too.
This is old now but man, would love to see you do more disc golf content. It’s super competitive these days, and they play on amazing properties. Needs more attention!
Yes! Like the camera guy getting hit by Eagles shot
@@SBGFL Yeah that was my worst fear! Also just how close the scores have been all the way down the top 40
Beautiful breakdown. Disc golfers everywhere are loving all the attention this shot is getting and it is well-deserved. An all time clutch sports moment.
Niche sport, incredible moment that everyone can appreciate, and SO many breakdown-able (?) moments. Blonde hair American flag dude is a national treasure.
Protect him at all costs
I didn’t know Disc Golf had such a viewing. the crowd reaction was amazing
We had crowds like this for major tournaments before covid, it's nice to see them come back even larger
Yes, disc golf has exploded in the last couple years, especially last year!
Honestly, that's the most insane crowd reaction I've ever seen in disc golf, in person or on tournament coverage, and I've been playing for over 10 years. Truly memorable day for the sport. Glad you enjoyed it! Check out Jomez Pro on youtube for the coverage of the full round!
th-cam.com/video/7QrRUFECnuY/w-d-xo.html
Without COVID, the crowd would have been much larger. Spectator passes for this event were capped at 1400; they sold out in mere minutes…
@jomboy Thank you so much for doing this... as a disc golfer, it was refreshing to hear you use all of the correct terminology in your recap. Thank you so much for making my days better with your love.
3:37 when my dog grabs a random object from the ground
This is my favorite breakdown you've ever done. Your absolute best, Jomboy.
I love that jomboy actually has knowledge of discgolf
Great throw. Good for him. Good for the sport. Good all around.
Jomboy I’ve been a sub since 40k and I play disc golf 2-3 times a week, this was awesome, classy ass breakdown of my favorite sport to play
This was by far the best shot to ever happen. I was watching the livestream when it happened. It was just incredible seeing someone's dreams come true happening live in real time. For Conrad to win the world championship in this fashion over an opponent as renound as Paul McBeth. It's every kids dream. This is exactly like hitting a game winning buzzer beater over MJ to win the championship. It's that level of like incomprehensible where you dream about it in your driveway as a kid shooting hoops or in this case while throwing practice putts in your yard as a kid but this is literally that imaginary moment coming to fruition for someone. That childhood dream became a reality.
