Thank you so much for this pristine non-REMASTERED post! Disintegration sets off rich but muted fireworks in my head. From Metallica's 1st 3 albums, all the way to David Sylvian, this is the by far the album I played most as a teen, and still enjoy to this day as a crusty 51-year old. It feels like a story, a journey, a soundtrack for all seasons and a mood enhancer all in one.
I became a woman to this album. I wish I could live inside of disintegration. I haven’t used a headset in a while, but intend to get a good pair. Lay on my bed and crank it up.
best album i ever heard in my life. Its the album i can isten to almost weekly and never tire of it, even after 25 or so years of listening to it. those opening two so ngs ......sheesh. just doesn't get any better. when i listen to pictures of you, it still stops me dead in my tracks and i become totally lost in it. And im not exaggerating when i say i must've listened to it a few thousand times! magik
then ya never heard of joy division as they came before all these cure n all guys n girls wanted to be dark as ian n joy division as well as siouxsie and the banshees which cure got their image from both bands!!! robert was way different when started siouxsie said grow ya hair wild n wear lip stick then made him over n he never changed!! respect isnt given to the mother n father of goth ian curtis/jim morrison and siouxsie sioux..........
My fave Cure Album.. Loved it from the first play.. and I had a decent stereo at the time with some really good speakers.. I used to work nights so could crank it up during the day when the neighbours were out, and the bass is so rich and deep I can say this album, above all my other records, is responsible for breaking more stuff in my house than any other. As I write this I can see the plaster bust my dad made, missing her nose because she vibrated off a shelf.
Thanks for the upload!! A friend tried to introduce me to this album when I was 17--I fell in love with Plainsong and Pictures but the others never grabbed me. I listened to their latest release played live on the Tubes a month or so ago, and it was incredible. They essentially did a 3 hour career retrospective, starting off with Plainsong and Pictures after they finished the playthrough of Songs from a lost World. Just finished revisiting 10 Years The Autumn Effect, and this was in the algorithm suggestions. So glad I'm giving it another shot! I'm definitely becoming a fan.
This album is SO worth multiple listens, my friend. For me it became a yardstick for a flawlessly cohesive and self-complimentary album. It set the stage perfectly for my introduction to its polar opposite: Mr Bungle's debut self-titled album.
@@celestialelixir3995 I haven't yet listened to "Songs of a Lost World" except for Endsong. That one song I've heard comes across to me to be leaning very much towards their "Disintegration" sound/feel. I've only heard the live version of "Endsong" but it gives me vibes of a re-visitation and a mature reflection on the sense of resignation or "life is what it is" that "Disintegration" had, without trying to make the same record again. Of course, I'm probably just projecting what this music means to me, regardless of The Cure's actual intentions.
@@honkyvanwildebeest8926 I had read that from other seasoned listeners of The Cure's records and as a newcomer, I can hear that connection too. I think Endsong was the track that resonated with me aswell after I had also seen the live version performed on the BBC and subsequently the band's very own livestream of their three hour concert. I hope they release that on Blu-ray because I preferred the live version over the studio. Not having seen any previous live performances of theirs, I don't have anything to compare this latest gig to but it seemed to me that all of them were on top form!
Le mot album prends tout son sens avec celui-ci. La cohésion est total du début à la fin. Envoutant. The word album takes on its full meaning with this one. The cohesion is total from beginning to end. Captivating. A masterpiece.
East Stanley from Loret D'Mar and Sheila 34 Kipling Close.1989 and Belinda Germany. FH Biddle and all round the north east on a bus with a walkman with this album .
If you want a treat listen to The Cure's watching me fall on the American Psycho soundtrack.....that song got me into listening to The Cure....total banger

This is the Cure and Robert Smith’s best album, and such an amazing intro song… a masterpiece
The first one I've ever listened from them when I was 16-17 in 91, and totally got me hooked..
And their new album, "Songs of a Lost World", is their second-best album. A follow-up 35 years in the making.
100%agree
2024 and listening to this
The Originals are so much better than the remastered versions. This is awesome, and brings back so many memories. Thank you.
A perfect album from start to finish.

My favorite album. Can listen on repeat

i love this album, even though it's sounding sad - very pensive, always one of my favorites from The Cure. Thank you for posting it in it's entirety

Another record to check out is The Church - Starfish. Same vintage and a similarly concept-like album.

All time classic album in my opinion.

The Beatles. The Rolling Stones. Bah. The Cure, the GREATEST band ever. Influential in 1989 AND in 2024. They're the only sound that makes sense now.
