That drumming on my favorite song!! 🎵 “All Cats Are Grey” 🐈⬛
This recording is some of the best music I have ever heard so far as a middle aged man in 2024
me too!
This is The Cure that knocks me out!! The Dark Trio. The first three albums are incredible.. Stand up still after all the years..as good as the later stuff is, it's pretty much RSmith and Co. This took the three of them to pull off these songs,in most cases, better than the studio version... Lightning in a Bottle!!!
100%!
I don't know... Three Imaginary Boys isn't all that incredible as albums go.
17 through Po** are the best for sure. We can't dismiss tracks like 10:15, 3IB, Another Day, those are the ground work to their classic sound. I'm counting 25-27 songs around that pre-17 era, there's undoubtedly a great album in there...
True
@@captainfeedback1 Agreed. I have a funny feeling OP may have been thinking of S.S., Faith and P.
If the Beatles have a dark brother, The Cure would be it.
So good, it almost hurts!!
This version of the Cure is just life enhancing . As good a joy division at their best I suggest.
And then along came lovecats. I lose the will to live if I ever hear it. Right up there with happy talk by Capt sensible or the absolute crime against humanity that is Mull of kintyre.
I had the good fortune to see the cure and Siouxie and the Babshees on the same bill in Belfast. The night Robert Smith stood in for Steven Severin as the Banshees fell apart . It was probably the best gig I ever saw.
great song, mull of kintyre. that riff. and the clever beats. life-affirming.
I like both versions of the cure. They still play their old songs live. Why make the same album forever? You can always play the old songs to people
This was performed at the Capitol Theatre, near Central Station, Sydney. The picturesque theatre would have been perfectly atmospheric for Faith and Seventeen Seconds performances.
I used to have a cd bootleg of the cure in sydney 1981. Beginning of one the songs Robert says ''If your gonna gob and chuck cans F**k off home'' Brilliant.
I love the old Cure sound …much more solemn than the later 80’s …great quality for live audio …thanks!
charlotte sometimes absolutamente hermosaaa!!! 😍
Recording quality is outstanding! Thanks so much for this ❤
The quality of the Sydney concert is awesome, The Cure have so many great early songs (A Forest, Other Voices, 10:15 Saturday Night, Charlotte Sometimes, The Holy Hour). This is just compulsively listenable...
The classic cure in all his splendor
Despite its stylistic diversity, Cure was above all a composer of expressionist aesthetics, always close to drama, depth, anguish and the deep and tormented vision of life that seems to emanate from the metaphysics of man as of his very deep nature🔥🕊
You've stolen Bowie's words, wich make the fact not less true!
🤪🤠@@yourib5152
Best recorded early gig! Still in Love, till the end!
Simply one of the best compilations of this band. And yes, the sound... no gimmicks, just pure...
Thanks for posting this, what a great and very atmospheric concert, brings me back.
My favorite Cure album. Just listened late last night/early this morning. In a bit of a mood. Now I find this. Thank you. I have a copy of the L. A. Show, and I had the 12” Charlotte single now long gone. Thank you for this. Sounds good.
Nostalgia.... 😊
This band rules.
The end.
Probably the best version of a forest I've ever heard.
This version of Faith …. Gorgeous. Thank you.
Same one as on the b-side of charlotte sometimes 12”…drove my Mum mental with this on repeat
Roberts wit is amazing one of the most influential bands in England

Раннее The Cure великолепно! Оно со мной всегда. Спасибо
"Early The Cure is great! It's always with me. Thank you"
Thanks you saved me a lot of work 😊❤ i was there when the music was created , 😬 yep i am that old😇😎 Buddy René.❤😮
köszönöm,ez gyönyörü!
Köszönöm, hogy meghallgattad!
I saw them here in New Zealand in 1980, and one of my friends saw them on this tour one year later, Brilliant
Really a great contemporary document. Just think about how long ago that was and what a great set list there was, unbelievable ..
The next step, for whatever reason, was towards the "Pornography" album - indicated for me with songs like "Charlotte Sometimes", "A Forest" or "Faith", which are brilliantly embodied here one after the other as a matter of course.
Personally, I like their album Pornography the best because it embodies a sound that is second to none and that we loved incredibly much.
Is there actually a proper biography about it that explains why they chose this musical style back then - I think there are some people who really know the history of the band ..
Thank you very much for posting it 🖤🍷
Pensé si un recuerdo es algo que uno tiene o que ha perdido… y me sentí en paz. < > I thought about whether a memory is something you have or have lost... and I felt at peace.
Always nice to remember The Cure and their beginnings and that time in general, thanks for this....this is brilliant!
they begun somewhere in 1976, Robert had commitments with Siouxie siox aswell.
@@yourib5152 Yes I know that, Siouxsie & The Banshees are my favorite band from that period just like The Cure, Bauhaus, Joy Division etc, by the way Robert Smith played with them after the departure of Macay from SATB, then he replaced the genius guitarist and musician John McGeoch and he played their concert album Nocturne and participated in the recording and creation of their album Hyaena, in one word Robert is a fucking genius, I have to mention The Glove project with Steven Severin from SATB and of course the brilliant The Cure's albums like Faith, 17 sec , Pornography, The Head on the door, Disintegration etc and their concerts from the past until today.
The live version of Faith is the one on the B-Side of the Charlotte Sometimes 12" !

Correct.
The Holy Hour... what a track.
Wow
The year was 1981... Nineteen fucking eighty one... My god this is such a gem... Forget about any reunion show you have them at their best with good sound right here. The first 4 albums were the best by far...
Fascinante realmente ❤🖤

The Cure are still a great band but I'll always prefer their early 80s concerts to their 2023 music. The energy and anger / edginess is overwhelming in the early recordings.
They were just churning out killer riffs in those years.
Incredible quality - absolutely pristine sound! What happened to the missing tracks though?
Good question, we'd have to take that up with the radio station/broadcast.
This is horror music. I love it.
👍👍
Hey thats the Faith version from Charlotte Sometimes 12” 😀😀
good ear, it's likely the version from Arabian Dream, Charlotte Sometimes & Faith DE. I just posted my research notes above ✌
Correct.
Rock on wich ya goth on!
...xxoo..

after 40 years cover clear!🥴
How was it "upgraded"?
Is this in Sydney Australia or Sydney Canada?
the '81 tour was in Australia, the radio broadcast of which some of this is taken was purportedly a Canadian FM station.
i just wished you'd have uploaded the entire set
what is that location?
the performance is from Australia (Sydney), though some of the broadcast is from Canada radio
God bless Simon Gallup.
Missing lol
Is something missing in the concert recording...or are you just missing this great band?
You meant missing Lol Tolhurst...I didn't catch that lol...
Great to hear this, thank you - got to admit though, Roberts singing on Three Imaginary Boys is awful!
????
Can’t hear Lol’s hi-hat properly.
47:20 A Forest, idk?
Sooo many ads. Ruins it.
ads are the worst, hope you can at least enjoy the music.
I gave in and subscribed recently. Kills me to do it but it’s much better without those persistent ads.
mehh~
