Actually you're not so wrong, Wes with his riffs is the soul of the band, the others are also great musicians but Wes inevitably stands out with his style.
@nonsoloRasatura94 I'll give Fred credit where its due. If it wasn't for his charisma and his stage presence. LB may not of been as big. His lyrics might be cringe and his vocals aren't the greatest but Fred's character and charisma help massively. Plus, I heard Fred was behind the production of his music videos and a lot of them are really good. Especially Break Stuff, Take A Look Around, Sour, Nookie, Rollin and Eat You Alive. So I don't think Fred desveres credit but I do this everyone else in the band (especially Wes) are really talented musicians
The thing about Wes is that he could write all these tight, punchy, dope ass riffs and manage to play them perfectly without fucking up while he would go wild on stage. His stage presence/physical play style along with his sound wrapped up in a mysterious and freaky costume on stage Is a whole other element to Wes Borland that makes him such a badass player.
I've seen them several times, including a free show with Cypress Hill in Dallas. He built a brand within a band, we always knew LB was holding him back. Extremely talented with a unique style and stage presence. However BDF was a let down, we were expecting this revolutionary thing idk why. I want to add that he was genuinely my favorite musician to chat with. and he spoke to us for an hour while his bandmates were on the bus with my friends girlfriend. Not a train,, Several other dudes gfs went on that bus too, I don't wanna single him out like that. We had to sneak under the fence near their tour bus. Wes gave me a budwieser that night. So did Kid Rock but he was too drunk to have a conversation with. ..and who knows? maybe they did bust a train on her, I was hanging with Wes.
3:22 At this point as a fan, 30 years after forming, you're just happy that these guys are still on speaking terms, never mind still performing and putting out new material. But to come up with an arguably top 5 greatest riff of your entire career at this point is genuinely incredible. The Out of Style riff is absolute 🔥🔥🔥
I love that Fred is playing into the boomer 80s old man persona. It's so funny, Fred and LB were their own style and yes it is amazing to see the band together, atleast Wes and Fred (idk the rest of the members). I'm sure it helps not touring nonstop for decades
I was in elementary school when LB was big. I've been listening to them a lot recently and noticed their riffs are great. I'd say Wes Borland is underrated for sure. You have some good picks here.
In was in middle school when they were getting big and yeah I’ve been listening to them a lot lately in the last month lol I guess it’s just the typical subliminal messaging or something but yeah I seen them quite a bit back in the day they still slap
Borland is a massively underrated guitarist, I've said this for years. If he was in a better band he may well be considered one of the all time greats.
@@clothboosteryea but his name will always be tied to limp bizkit. He’s not saying he doesn’t fit it. He’s just saying he’s good enough that he could’ve been more recognized as a talented guitarist had he been in a another band that doesn’t get shitted on.

this is why Limp Bizkit sky rocketed way back 90's (well, until now)... it is because of damn unique riffs, finger styling and delay! best riff for me is 9 Teen 90 Nine 🤘🏼
Limp Bizkit was perfect. Every member was such an integral part of the band. Wes fit Limp Bizkit perfectly. Had he been in any other band, nobody would call him underrated, because they wouldn't even know who he is. LB style is Wes and Wes is the LB style. Him and Fred, Sam, John & Lethal were the perfect blend.
You might be the most accurate player I've heard playing LB both tone wise and note wise. Props man, mad props. What amp and cab and all that do you use for this?
recently discovered this weeks back, been one of my favorite vids to drum to, love coming back to this limp bizkit as a band have inspired me lots, especially wes' guitar work and john otto's funky asf drumming
Wes borland is a genius, authentic in his techinique and effects, there is nothing like him. A great guitar player is not that one who plays thiusand of notes but that one that makes good song
Un aspecto de la genialidad de borland consiste en hacer de riffs aparentemente sencillos algo épico y atemporal aparte de revolucionario, ahora me doy cuenta que sí está infravalorado, él y su aportación ,vino a darle frescura al sonido del metal .
Wes is by far one of the most expressive guitarists of its time, delivering precise riffs... And I am not talking about shredding, but about energy and heaviness. It's like heavy poetry coming straight from the amps that punches you right to the face not to knock you out but take you down and make you want to get up and thrash around.
For this recording, I basically used the VST "ignite" amp and the corresponding cabinet impulses ("nadir"), simulating v30 speakers. Then, there's some EQing and that's mostly it :)
Some of the most cheezy simplistic hooks ever made. sure they're catchy but the reason they didn't have any longevity is because you have 2 people that got musical instruments for christmas and thought they were cool but never really learned anything about music. I could play any of those licks in my second year of playing guitar.
I love Limp Bizkit mostly because of Wes riffs

Same here but also because of DJ Lethal !!
Everything is good on limp bizkit, amazing musicians and Durst is a great singer as well
For me it’s John Otto and Wes together

King of simplistic catchy riffs that get you moving. They’re harder to write than flashy stuff

He plays very simple riffs, mostly power chords so I dont see how he can be mentioned as one of the all time greats
@@Razdwatrzy9 Should check out his own band, Black Light Burns, showcases his skill far better than Limp Bizkit.
Borland was so underrated in his time.
In the back of my mind I've always loved the guys riffs, they're so heavy but bouncy and fun, it's like dissonant Funk
The most underrated West Borland riffs are the clean ones. Are so unique and geniuses

Wes is certainly an underrated guitarist. His playing can be harsh and gritty, but also beautifully melodic.
One of my favourite Wes riffs is in "My Generation" after that mellow bridge and before the last chorus.
who gets the blame?

Nicely executed Sir. Makes me realize the true reason I fell in love with this band so many years ago. Great heavy riffs

Out of style and Hot Dog are his masterpieces. I've never heard someone use a whammy any better.
Lmfao watch hail the apocalypse by avatar then . It will blow you away! And also very simple like Wes

Rollin' and others really bring into to light how cool LB's music is
Wes should be up there as one of the greatest guitarists of our time!!!
My favorite riffs are
Hot dog
Pollution
Many good but those are groovy asF
Nothing like some guitar riffs beginners can play
fuck me, that guy really knew how to write a riff!!
Now i understand why a love this band so much when you listen thoses riff it's heavy
🤘
Sometimes simpler things are better.
yesss, I was hoping to see "Bring it Back"

Maybe It's because it was shot in 25 frames?
Livin' it up must be there !

Counterfeit needs to be in here
It’s in another of his videos
He is the reason behind my love for Head for the Barricade. That and the "Stick em, Stick em. Ha Ha Ha. Stick em, Stick em"
Finally a few deep cuts. Wes is a riff lord and super creative with the whammy and effects, you did them justice \m/
Quite possibly the greatest rock guitar player alive
Without WB Limp Bizkit would not have succeeded.
I remember pollution day one I knew I was hooked to this band.
The Priest should definitely be on the list.

Out of style is such a banger
Wes Borland is a genius. Solid tribute, brother.
Gonna have to go with pollution as my fav riff
Should give respect to Wes Borland
Wes is Bizkit
Yes ,but without Sam and John it would be a totally different thing
that riff he has at the opening to cambodia is sick af
Awesome
That was great. My favorite riff of theirs is the main riff from Boiler.
Just started to learn some Wes riffs this week. Cheers for the video👍🤘
