    Wow, I literally spit my coffee out when you said the tree slices were $6.99 each! That is crazy for sure! I actually had a business selling tree slices & wooden crates to be used for rustic weddings, vintage trade show & mall booths, etc. I literally supported myself for over 5 years with this business (Covid shut it down). This being said, I only charged $4.99 each for my slices & they were from fallen forest trees & treated with a clear varnish so they’d last. Yes, I was that crazy that I would go out in the forest with a chainsaw to slice up fallen trees! (Of course, only where I had permission, mostly on my friend’s property). Anyway, great video, Karen. Wednesdays & Sundays are my favorite TH-cam days! xoxo

I don't always want four coffee cups that are the same because everyone in my family drinks different kinds of coffee or tea. Hi Karen, always love watching you shop! Do you get the 20% off monthly Goodwill coupons in your area? I'm in Phoenix and we get them regularly here by email each month. They're good for the whole month! You and Roger should make a trip out to Phoenix! The weather is great now thru May and we have fantastic thrift stores here! Some really high end stuff at fantastic prices. Drive in, shop till ya drop, then rent a small U-Haul trailer for trip back... you'd make a killing and probably not have to thrift for awhile...🥳 Also get a nice vacation in and write off your entire trip!!!

      @@wightwick13 Well, YOU must not be looking in the right places! I've furnished three homes here in the last 20 years with gorgeous thrift store finds, high-end designer furniture, beautiful antiques! You sound a bit cheeky, but I'll tell you a few places anyway: there are several Goodwills that I've scored gorgeous clothing, antique furniture, collectibles, beautiful antiques rugs, stain glass lamps, etc., - one in Happy Valley, North Phoenix (near airport), Chandler, Mesa. One of the best Goodwill stores is out in Apache Junction! There's two animal rescue boutique thrift stores in North Phoenix, Rescued Charities (40th & Thunderbird) and Foothills Animal Rescue Thrift (Pima Rd). Then there's the White Dove Thrift Stores, love these stores: three in the metro Phoenix area... Can't tell you the antique treasures I've scored from these places, esp. the Mesa and Scottsdale stores... Wow, wow, wow. I've pretty much had to stop collecting at this point because my house looks like a maximalists museum! So, hope you have some better luck. My family cannot believe all the wonderful things I've discovered thrifting. I just love to thrift, been doing it for at least 35 years. It's been a great adventure! Too-dal-loo! 😘

    • @wightwick13
      @wightwick13 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Apologies for sounding cheeky and thank you for your response. Have heard of and/or shopped at several of the places you mentioned. Found treasures over the years but the likelihood of finding any these days I find is few and far between. Friend used to volunteer at Foothills Animal Rescue Shop so she took my ‘better’ items and the rest went to Goodwill (Scottsdale and Thunderbird). Still donate to same Goodwill but anything of value now put on consignment and have done very well $$$ wise. Remember when there were several second hand stores in Scottsdale Airpark - bought several pieces of furniture there. Used to find great deals and treasures at J & K Furniture (24th Street (?) and Bell) and in the other stores in same row. Cave Creek and Thunderbird stores were fun as was The Dump in Cave Creek. There used to be a store at Seventh Street and Thunderbird that had a lot of furniture/furnishings from model homes - bought many items from them - it moved years ago to where I cannot remember. Learned from one of the best about thrifting - my Mum - she was a ‘professional’ shopper; shopped in ‘experienced’ stores all over the UK and parts of Europe; could spot a fabulous item on sale at 50 paces, and, volunteered at a NSPCC Charity Shop in UK for many years. Again, apologies and thank you for information.

    • @dwagnerful
      @dwagnerful 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@wightwick13 No worries. It sounds like you're an experienced thrift shopper, too! I have to control my shopping habit, but I still go out occasionally and never have trouble finding great things! I recently found a Hollywood regency sectional sofa (upholstered in opaline green silk, in pristine condition) in a thrift shop (Purple Heart) in Apache Junction. I paid $250 dollars for it and thought I was dreaming! The color is absolutely my favorite! It was an unbelievable find. Within a month, in the same town at a Goodwill, I found a matching Tibetan wool area rug and paid $24! The original price was still on back for $1500, and it was in near perfect condition! At that Goodwill (Idaho & Apache Junction) I've found incredible collectibles, amazing paintings, I even found a like-new Berkey Water Filter! I lived in North Phoenix for several years and found a plethora of amazing things shopping the thrift stores in that area. I still believe you can find great deals and very high-end items in Metro Phoenix because of the influx of retirees, Californians, and general wealth in area. Good luck in your searches and best wishes! 😊💖

    Karen, I sell single mugs all the time for decent money $16 to $25 and usually the buy cost is 50 cents to 1 dollar, the pottery mugs sell very well and dunoon mugs do well for me, and of course some starbucks, people want to replace 1 in a set or just want to collect nice well made mugs, Plus I cringe when I have to ship a set of mugs lol.

      I buy and sell single mugs as well. It started out because I was always buying mugs when I thrifted and I needed to get rid of some of them, but then I realized how much people enjoy buying mugs online and I made it part of my business. It isn't uncommon for people to bundle a piece of clothing and a mug in my store (likely because of shipping costs).

    Whenever I see Goodwill videos I am always alarmed at the amount if items, the excess in America and how easily people donate to make room for more stuff. Why don't people donate items to orphanages, hospitals and places of need. I understand the places such as this provides an opportunity for resellers to earn a living. If people just lived simple lives and appreciate what they have instead of buying so much stuff just to get rid of it. I enjoy your videos because you pick up really interesting items. Greetings from Cape Town South 🇿🇦.

      It really depends on what is available. I prefer to donate to local shops that help the community in some way. The churches only accept items leading up to some event so they won’t take things year around. I think donating to GW is more about convenience (one trip, take it all). Our churches nearby do seek food items and keep a pantry. I do agree having so many ‘things’ is very excessive here.

You can donate clothes to schools, pre- schools, hospitals, nursing homes , I work at a community college that helps the students find jobs once they graduate....and we take dressy ( interview type of clothing,) shoes, purses, jewelry, suits etc. Think of others in these expensive times!!!! Fabulous LL BEAN find! Always get that and Eddie Bauer and Land's End. All I wear and it lasts forever, and I'm hard on them as I have to go to barn twice a day minimum. Eddie Bauer has had odd cloth in their pull over shirts in last few yrs... not sure what happened to their quality, but their lined pants are awesome and i've bought some from you, a must for 45 degree days...

    Just paused the video to let you know (before I forget)that here in the Lehigh Valley anything under $4 is still 50% off on $2 Tuesday. Something that in $2.99 would ring up $1.50. Does that make sense? I thought the same that if it’s the color it would be $2, but nope they still give it at the cheaper price. 🤩

    When we needed stores to revitalize a tiny historical downtown we bought 2 stores friends bought 3 of the others. To place booths in ours. Restoration hardware on one side and vintage booths on the other building where everyone pays a fee. 3 of the 30 vendors do the store opens closings abdca few fill ins. swipe system called square. We stock the huge 20 ft window displays on every season. Like hunter country weddings, camo & pink , or vintage brown & cream Halloween. Or 1950s bar carts & aprons, & Pyrex bowls. The town Is 10 minutes from a national park so we get bus tourism now. It's now #2 downtown of vintage in the state. You just have to bring together that nostalgia abdcrebuild a town that's close. Pennsylvania, Ohio Valley, Connecticut, west Virginia & Virginia needs this spark of actual competitiveness. Modern ranch nostalgia, little cafes with cards, buildings with restoration stock, furniture, tablewear in stacks. & stacks. hard goods to sell, next to huge buildings of vintage booths. It brings them in. People need high class production. And quaint picker shops. Please find that group that allows you to go you bring the product & the building and we all invest our time because you are super busy. People find you to sell and buy. Keep the highest standards, accountability, turn half your business into a street store or several sports memorabilia, equipment goes well with gaming, movie posters. Build that community a town is craving your help.

    Nesting Santas are a great find! I have a closet full of Michael Simon sweaters that I'll never wear again. They are gorgeous high-quality sweaters. Belle Pointe is another good label to look for in vintage sweaters. That white fox jacket is beautiful.

    Northern Arizona GW do $2 for color of the week on Thursday's. If a color of the week item is priced $3.99 or less, it will be 1/2 price, not $2. The better discount prevails. For example, a color of the week item originally priced $2.99 would be $1.49 on $2 day. I appreciate your videos and love your exuberance 😊

    I’ve been really confused by some GW pricing changes. I found a tag for men’s long sleeve dated 9/22 for $6.49, but last week they were marked $9.99. That is quite a hike. I wish my budget increased like that! I’ve noticed they must be sending more to the bins, shelves and racks overflowing with overpriced stuff.🤷🏻‍♀️
