It would end up looking ugly and non-presentable on world wide television. I think there should be a sign on the entrance door with a warning for claustrophobic people.
Rotterdam is a way better option. Maastricht looks so small and doesnt look special at all, Rotterdam really has that Eurovision look and it is easier to travel to and has lots of fun things to do in the city. Not sure if I am going if it's in Maastricht

Maastricht is extremely cozy, has impressive old architecture and is in a generally beautifully located area (Southern Limburg) while Rotterdam is impressive in other ways (the port and the Tweede Maasvlakte, the skyline, ...). I'd say Maastricht is more beautiful overall but Rotterdam is more unique for European standards with its modern centre and everything.

I would say both are in for a head to head race. Maastricht and MECC has more enthusiasm but Rotterdam and Ahoy has more experience (they hosted JESC already, for example)

Maastricht is not little first of all its the 23th city of the Netherland. And Rotterdam isn't a metropolis its a workerscity where the people are all workers that aren't waiting for this whole event. But yeah I prefer Rotterdam because of the arena, but my fear is that its going to be Maastricht only because that the euro was born here and the place.

Rotterdam is not a workers city anymore. And for Dutch standards it is one of two real metropolitan areas together with Amsterdam. Both cities have over 1.2 million people in their metro area.

I agree. Maastricht is lovely, I've lived there for a year and can say it's truly beautiful in terms of Dutch cities, but the MECC is just not the most suitable venue.

I've been to both cities multiple times. I like Rotterdam because of the architecture, art and leisure possiblity but Maastricht is more cosy and welcoming in my opinion. BTW, it's only 2.5 hour by train/car to A'dam or R'dam, for most European that's peanuts...

Well I have to drive 2 hours just to reach Maastricht, Rotterdam is under one hour.
