  • Tonight, Having seen ‪@shedmouthjunction‬ attempt at reducing the sound of his TT120 trackbed, track + PVA + insulation foam + wood. I thought it would be helpful to share my own findings, with no science behind anything to back me up 😂
Good news at the same time you get a bit of running shots of my recent recovery buy, the City of Lichfield.

Interesting, track noise. I have 3 areas on my tiny layout. 1. Fiddle yard track, + cork + PVA + 1/2 inch chipboard. 2. Bridge track + cork + PVA + ballast + plastic tunnel on 1/2 inch chipboard. 3. Station track + cork + PVA + ballast on 1/2 inch chipboard. All 3 areas sound different the station area being the loudest with a hollow sound like the loco is running over a box. Nothing scientific about my assessment just different areas reacting differently the main area the Station being the worst sounding area unfortunately. Just how it is.

Yeh it's an interesting topic, my experience is that using copydex under the cork and foam board is quieter. The only thing I haven't tried is copydex on the track to cork. I imagine that would be even better but i wanted to be able to use the hot water trick later if I needed to adjust the track (due to my dodgy carpentry skills 😂)
