Congratulations on a splendid, well-designed, and informative video. As the person who wrote all the informative booklets, like "How to Play," and helped organize and write the rules booklet and the flipbook, the goal of helping the player navigate easily the complex seas of the Presidency was paramount. Gene has designed an epic game, and as you say, one whose emphasis is on narrative and telling an immersive story. So, I'm grateful for the excellent job you've done here in summarizing the game and providing such a clear entry into one of the year's most compelling play experiences. Thank you!
And thank you for all your hard work in bringing the game to life and to our tables. I think the biggest accomplishment of your team is that you never feel lost playing Mr. President - the game guides you along the journey so well, it allows players to stay immersed, which is so key to the overall experience!
I felt that some book should had had a quick reference on all counters as one pagerm, now they are spread across the Governing Manual, meaning you need to go diving into that directly for you first game, just to setup the game. And not all counters have images of counters in corresponding spot in GM if looking via GM Index.
Ok, let's get this out of the way first: Is the potential for election fraud a possible crisis or event that you can encounter in this game? If not, then it's a no-buy from me.
@@realdealastrology9Is there a reason you specifically feel this type of event is integral to the game? I’m not sure if there is one, as my copy is still in preorder
@@foyzo3673 it's an event that has happened in many elections throughout the world, so the U.S. elections should be no different with that as a possibility. It is a scandal after all. Then again, that could be an entire GMT game in itself.
Wow. Excellent guide. This is exactly what is needed for a game of this nature to remove some of the fear that that number is booklets and the board presence generated Fantastic job
I am so NOT about playing a president, but this game....I was drawn immediately to the comprehensive nature of this one. It's definitely a game to be reckoned with. Big table hog, but seems worth it. Thanks for the great overview!
Just received the game today (finally!). Wow, there is a lot here. Lots of booklets. It's heavy! A tad daunting. You gave a good intro and now I'm excited to get into it (sometime when I have a week to spare to sit down with it).
My copy of the game arrived here in the UK on Wednesday straight from GMT in the 'States. Looks like I've got a lot on my plate, but as a proper billy no-mates, it'll certainly keep me occupied !
When you play as Joe Biden and some problem is too big or difficult you can play a Sleepy Joe card (Joe Biden takes a Nap) and the problem goes away for 2 turns, but then becomes worse later on. Joe Biden also comes with Dementia card deck so you don't know how you are going to decide, the card's randomly decided and some decisions are horrible choices, or some cards have only bad choices so you are choosing which bad choice you want.
Excellent explanation. I’m sold. 8 to 12 hours is such a long play time, though. Do you think it would be possible to ‘save’ the game after a few hours session to put it away and resume it later?
Oh yes, as long as you have somewhere where you can leave it set up. I wouldn't want to be writing down the location of all the counters, putting it away, and then setting it up again! I think it can work quite well as " let me just do a few things before work" or "Let me just resolve the crisis cards before I go to bed" kind of game that you can work through over the course of a week or something like that.
I was kindly given access to the playtest module on Tabletop Simulator by GMT for the purpose of making this content. I don't think it is available publicly, at least, not at the moment...
In this game, like Twilight struggle there's a point where the player can lose automatically. I noticed the board has an indicator that tensions could lead to a NATO-Russia war. If that happens (which will lead to nuclear war), does the game end in defeat?
Excuse me, I´m not a native english speaker, and since I didn´t catch any additional explanation on this matter: Does solitaire means, that this is a game for 1 player ONLY? Is there any option for 2 players scenario? Thank you
This looks cool, but as President, can I pull the U.S. out of either NATO and/or the U.N. Can I push to go to War with Canada or Mexico, just kinda wondering how far I can go.
Sadly, no. It's a sandbox, but the worst you can do is ruin the relationships so that they become estranged. And the UN kind of works on its own, although you can certainly refuse to work with them

Well, the scandal mechanic is pretty generic - it could arguably be something like that. There's some gaps that you can fill in with your own narrative

Thank you so much! Glad it helped! Thanks so much for watching it!
This is one of my favorite videos you have made! It has moved this game to the top of my to play pile. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for your kind words! Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent presentation. I especially liked the insets that showed where the section you were talking about appears on the board.
Thank you! I figured that would be helpful if people are following along, and the game plays much faster when you know where everything is!

Brilliant video, really helpful to understand the key concepts and mechanics. Thank you!
You're welcome! Glad it was helpful!
Nice to see you back Helder!
Playing any 1960 recently?
@@LegendaryTactics unfortunately it doesn't get to the table as often as I'd like. And now with Mr. President... who knows? :)
I appreciate this introduction to the game. Thank you! Now on to read my "homework"
Ha ha, enjoy!

Awesome! Let me know how successful your administration is! Have fun!
Great video, really well thought out and presented. Thanks a lot for sharing. Take care out there!
Thanks! You too! May you have a successful administration!
Is there any plans to have an how to play of the game Littoral Commander: Indo-Pacific from publisher Dietz Foundation?
I hadn't heard of it until you mentioned it, but I would be happy to take a look at it!

Wow, now I m really interested to play that) can you give a link where all booklets is? Because I didn’t found this in tabletop simulator version
If they are posted anywhere, it will be here: www.gmtgames.com/p-555-mr-president-the-american-presidency-2001-2020.aspx
@@LegendaryTactics thanks a lot!❤️
Not all the files will be uploaded, so you still need a copy of the game to be able to play the TTS or vassal version

Is there a dumbed down version of the rules for playing certain Presidents?
LOL, no, but you can always add "house rules" for that
In this game, like Twilight struggle there's a point where the player can lose automatically. I noticed the board has an indicator that tensions could lead to a NATO-Russia war. If that happens (which will lead to nuclear war), does the game end in defeat?
Yes, allowing war to break out between NATO and Russia is one of the 14 ways you can lose automatically.
Excuse me, I´m not a native english speaker, and since I didn´t catch any additional explanation on this matter: Does solitaire means, that this is a game for 1 player ONLY? Is there any option for 2 players scenario? Thank you
There is no scenario where you play against each other, but you can work together with other players to make a great cooperative experience!
Are you allowed to steal classified information and store them in boxes in your bathroom when you leave office? Just wondering how realistic this is?
Or an action to send your crack head son to other countries to pick up bags of cash for you?
😂
Ha ha, I haven't come across that yet
Or next to your corvette in the garage?
