Thanks so much for this common sense demo, which goes to show that an affordable mic can sound just as clear and precise as a more expensive mic - it's more about the particular qualities of the different types. I loved the M130 ribbon and the Aston Spirit, even though I didn't come here to hear them.

The M70 is not best suited Singing, I guess..

Hi Riona, it's primarily for speech, that's correct. This is why we recorded speech aswell with those microphones. Beyerdynamic claim that the M70 Pro X is also suitable for vocals and instruments, just like you see RE20s or SM7Bs quite frequently being used for vocal recording sessions. And for close-up speech check the review - it comes with all sorts of audio files and also with speech with loads of proximity effect. Best, Nick

A microphone is a microphone, can be used any way you feel it will work for you’re source, I’ve chosen the shure pg27 over the 42 yet the 42 is voiced for vocals , I chose the at4040 as a lead vocal mic yet it’s designed for background vocals, I scrapped my 4050 for it, I know some people that use a kick drum mic as a vocal mic all in all it’s a microphone and mic technique is all you need to know

I'm willing to bet the m70 would make a decent Tom or Kick mic though.

The vocal recording is horrible. The voice sits on a carpet of underlying distortion / subharmonics
