J-35 fighter updated! Stealth Chinese Navy Aircraft Carrier based fighter is ready to serve

- The latest Chinese stealth fighter, the J-35, is in the spotlight again. A better quality photo of this medium size fighter appears online.
The photo shows more details of this future Chinese Navy aircraft carrier borne fighter jet. Unlike the U.S. F-35, the Chinese fighter is powered by two RD-93 engines. The latest prototype has similar upgrade as the large size J-20B fighter, there is a big hump behind canopy to reduce drag and increase internal space. This makes the J-35 more look alike the F-35.
This prototype is equipped with carrier catapult connecting device, proving it is for aircraft carrier usage. I made a video about the latest Chinese carrier catapult launch test, please click the link at the top right corner.
After latest changes, the J-35 seems to be given a new serial number. However this particular prototype doesn’t have the Chinese Navy insignia. But it might be because the photo was taken prior to the insignia is added. Having the insignia is an indication that the fighter jet will be handed over to the military.
Interestingly, Belgium announces to join Europe’s F.C.A.S. next-gen fighter program in June 2024. The competition of U.S., China and Europe 5th gen fighter jet intensifies. France’s Dassault, Germany’s Airbus and Spain’s Indra currently make up a trio to development of a Next Generation Fighter (NGF), Remote Carriers or adjunct aircraft and a combat cloud, designed as a multi-domain capable, data rich network, allowing cross platform information sharing. These fighters will compete each other in international market, and possibly in future battlefield.

No. Right now it's using WS-21 engines. These are (according to the manufacturer Guizhou) basically the WS-13 engine (which is a copy of the RD-93) reverted back into RD-33 form factor. The reason is that the RD-93 was designed for use in a single engine fighter and had its gearbox moved to the opposite side of the RD-33's original gearbox. So to fit it optimally into a twin-engine aircraft, they returned it to RD-33 configuration and raised its performance to match the RD-33MK (the MiG-29K's engine). The WS-19 engine will follow later.

@@omnadrener1 The heck? The WS-21 isn't the R-13 engine. The R-13 engine is called the WP-13 in Chinese use. WS = WoShan = turbofan. WP = WoPen = turbojet. There is no way a modern fighter will use a turbojet engine. The only Chinese aircraft in production still using a turbojet is the JL-9 trainer (using the WP-14 engine).

I have a bit of insider info on this plane. This is obviously better than the F35. Because the letter J comes after F. Unfortunately they forgot that the F35 used to be called the X35, so the J35 will be soon renamed as the Z35.

China will surely not use the Russian useless engines in their jets, even the lower ones like JF-17 Thunder Block 3 are getting WS-13 made in China engines which are by far the greatest choice China has and they are surely better than the Russian smokey engines. J-35 will use 2 WS-13 engines btw.

F-35 isn't really a fighter though, it's just a missile truck, f-22 is the aircraft that defeats this in a dogfight no issue
