From aesthetics alone, it is certainly the most unique-looking 5th-gen fighter. And personally, I love that. From some angles it looks a bit weird but from others its jaw-dropping.

lose the Canards, make the tail fins more trapezium-like , change the engine exhaust nozzles, and we have a BTEC F22 with F35 intakes on our hands
@@flighteaglediy8220 The canards make no difference whatsoever, god knows what the fuck the "fins" are, and the exhaust nozzles make little to no difference in forward facing steatlh.
F-35 has full inlet blockers, this is partially to allow for more power at the expense of mechanical complexity on the J-20.

capabilities aside, this is one sexy aircraft
I'd never underestimate a Jet like this or the pilots on capabilities, respect the Chinese, this is an attack aircraft with significant stealth tech and the Chinese have missile tech on par with our own(US) and in some cases greater. The only thing the Chinese are lacking right now is cultural doctrine and they're working on that every day.

Imo, straight comparisons between the F-22 and the J-20 is like comparing the A6M2 to the P-38. They are designed to different things and they are both engineering marvels.

@@dogeren0096 Not impressive at all, considering there's already 1,000 F-35s in service around the world, L-M builds 150 more every year, and is going to be building at least 200 a year starting in 2025. And the F-35 is going to be paired off with the F-15EX aerial missile artillery platform for enhanced air-superiority capabilities, on top of that.
China isn't even flying their J-20s on familiarization routines, anyway. They have the planes but they don't have the pilots or the logistics to bring them up to even a semblance of readiness.
There are currently a little over 200 j20s produced. There are plans for yearly production throughput of 100 fighters.
So far they have passed the f22 in numbers, still a long way to reach the f35 tho

F-35 is not untested in combat. Israel has used it in combat to devastating effects on target.
The F-35 has crashed many times in actual combat, and the grounding and inspection time after the accident was longer than the time of patrol duty.

@@anytuna not really, Russians are careful so they won’t mass produce something after it reach the satisfactory requirements. Chinese on the other hand are not, see how terrible JF17, VT4 and Type 69 were complained. Beside J20s are still using Russian engines.
