    Purchased both courses and coming form being a strictly graphite artist, I’m seeing the world in a completely new way. Seeing the sky in paint colors or watching how the light of my “fire table” reflects in the wine glass… wonderful world you’ve opened my eyes to. Thank you. Learning so much more than I ever expected about oil painting ❤️

    WOW... Thank you Florent for this insight that I never got to learn about back in my younger years.
    I'm an old lady "has been" in the art world... I've loved art all my life... always wanted to learn to paint portraits. I never really cared to paint landscapes or still life (but I could have very easy).
    Portraits are more challenging... but they have always been the most "frustrating" for me also, because I just needed your type of lessons to teach me the correct techniques.

    Thank you, Florent for another amazingly helpful video. As usual, it is full of valuable information. I don't paint that often, but love to watch your videos as they are very insightful and make me feel like I am growing as an artist every time I watch your videos. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge with us!

    The object is nothing, the light is everything. It is worth considering, It also applies to photography.

  • @tekannon7803

    It is possible the light source was the sun---look at Carravagio's paintings---and more importantly they were made with a lens.

    Where do you find your reference photos? I have such a hard time finding photos online that I may replicate for practice. Thank you!

    • @CnithTheOnliestOne
      @CnithTheOnliestOne 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      just look on the internet for whatever subject you want. Ie. Woman portrait. You will find lots of pictures! Pick one you like and practice practice practice!! You only have to worry about licenses or copyrights if you intend to sell the pictures you paint. Otherwise, have at it!

    • @dodgeglowsticks
      @dodgeglowsticks 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CnithTheOnliestOne thank you! I honestly have a ton of practice work done that I’m proud of! I definitely search the internet for photos and stuff, it’s just a nuisance when the files are too small or the images aren’t crisp or full in depth/tone! I need to start doing creative endeavors if I am to sell though, my main hobby and fun has come from replication instead of creation. I really wish I could sell what I’ve done in terms of replication/interpretation

    • @CnithTheOnliestOne
      @CnithTheOnliestOne 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dodgeglowsticks well... use the images as a place to start... kind of like a block of clay that you mold into your own. Use the images you find as inspiration. Doesn't matter if they're too small or blurry because when you put your spin on it, they'll be originals. It sounds like you're ready to leave the nest, younglin! :D

    What you call unpleasant shadow can be very intersting, something a half way between the dramatic that you said and show and what you present a.bit too much (imo) as ideal.
    I know you know it and that I'm not teaching anything to you here but needed to precise it.
    Tjere ain't any perfect lightning, postion, etc.
    Theses shadow can be very usefull, we can exaggerate these in certain.ways to show shapes, strange skin or shape or skin on a strange skull also (elephant man type).
    It can give an information and worrying feeling that the diffuse shadow, even if more detailed,.could never give, could never make us feel and see the way that is wanted.
    Just wanted to say it, that yes it can often be a :go to", "the way to" seems to much for me.. art doesn't work like this.. it depends what you want, what you search, what is your goal..
    So, just tor esume, it's not necessary, or always, the best way, THE way to do it.
    It still depends of what you want to show.
    Once again I'm sure that you know it but I had to say it because you didn't precise when you could, like with just a few words (except if it's what you want per example). So I felt the need to say it.
    Not an attack, more like a contribution and a way to, me too, teach, offer, something of my knowledge.
    And about you more like knowing it you should maybe ask yourself if for beginners it is that obvious.. and.maybe precise it next time, so about you it s more like a critic to help you improve.
    Btw I like your content and you seem to be a cool guy, my comment could be a bit aggressive (or just full of disappointment and even a bit of judgement if the person is a pice of s... like a guy who does lives and has a specific mustache, the guy never accepted my critics and even blocked me when I was trying to make my point but couldnt reconsidere what he has learned and speak about me like I am a stupid retarded autist.. and was mocking me to feel better because he needed, felt injured in his pride..) but would not because I don r want to, it s the opposite, I want to do it without ANY animosity AT ALL..
    Was just a double message, to tour viewers to not go ONLY, ALWAYS for this without considering that other ways has something else to offer
    And to you to tell tou to maybe be less "THIS is the way to do" because how I said, beginners can take it as a rule and never try to do it differently..
    Which in my opinion would be very sad..
    😉 keep the good work, great content as ever and (more about personnal development) don't give what people think or can/could think, so much importance (I see it 😉😰) life is short, enjoy it the much you can at the moment that you stay who you are, respect yourself, people around you and keep your values. But LIVE ! MOTHER FUC%ER !! (just what I would told you if i would meet you in "real" life.)
    I don't know if you have someone in your life but I was this quiet kid that was very pure, too pure for this world.. I don't say to become.a.bastard .. !!
    Just to..
    LET IT GO !!
