Hey I have been painting this for quite some time. How long did this take you? I messed up by using liquid white as the base, but i am getting closer to your godlike final product.

this stage took about 3-4 hours to complete. I did 3 sessions on this portrait eventually

What color dark is that you are using for the initial start ... Raw Umber perhaps?

I normally use just Raw Umber or mixture of Transparent Red Oxide and Viridian

Hello Arthur, when you work on canvas with oil. Is there any special preparation done to the canvas so that the grain of the canvas dnt appear.

you have to choices: 1. Paint on smooth surface - extra fine linen, wood, panels. 2. Paint the 1st layer with thick impasto and build up small details later
