FRUIT -- the "Makawao" Green Sapote -- Original Tree on Maui, Hawaii -- Pouteria viridis

The "Makawao" green sapote is derived from this tree, which is either the ortet, or offspring of this tree. It's several decades old now, and thriving at a low-mid elevation in Makawao, Maui. This is a tree I have been seeking for 10+ years, and finally managed to locate last week. Originally part of a fruit crop trial, it now languishes in a field near Makawao Forest Reserve. It's everything I had hoped for - a giant, stately & dignified tree.
Green sapote (Pouteria viridis) is a semi-domesticate from the elevations of Central America. I've only ever seen it wild once, in Costa Rica nearly a decade ago.
