Dude I stumbled on your Insta page last night and I’m hooked .. you play with such emotion and the tone from the Tele is insane ….. guitar music is in safe hands 🙏🎸
When I discovered you and saw your one of your videos a few months ago.You blew my mind. You've got the magic.Your note choices and phrasing is awesome, uplifting and inspiring. I'm am intermediate guitar player and Tele's Rule!
CONGRATS MAN!!! and.. i think our solo is reeeealy great!! you catch the movement in the chord change VEEERY GOOD!! this is the' money' on this progresions!! you got this!!
@@officialWWM It has nothing to do with my attention span mate. I don't watch TH-cam ads for the same reason. Do you watch every TH-cam ad because your attention span is amazing?
Oh man all of this video is just the truth! We all get in our heads and what a shame that keeps you down. Quick subscribe and looking forward to more 'Killer' solos and videos of yours!
Man! You just crossed the line! Like we say here in Brasil: "zerou a vida!" I feel happy about you, seriously! Steve Lukather is my guitar hero. Just... OMG!
Just bumped into this accidentally. Absolutely amazing solo, very nice riff and sound. It's like a refreshing breeze to hear someone who doesn't want to impress with all the virtuoso bells and whistles, but plays melodies and tells a story instead.
Midnight riff brought me here, this solo about tuning down made me not want to miss any video you make. I love solos, but your riffs kicks azz.. been playin' more riffs after i subscribed here
I loved that solo …your own style really shone threw and showcased what your about excellent, I talked through text to Steve Lukather as well and felt exactly like you, he’s one of my all time favourite guitarists I must have listened to songs like White Sister about 200 times, I also found Toto was great for skiing as well for timing turns on moguls 3 turns ahead they’re music has such a great back beat and his solos are tremendous ….so glad you were pumped by his comment what a thrill it is “KILLER” lol that’s perfect.
Super happy for you dude! You really inspired me! I am definitely that guy that is always sitting on something because I feel like it’s not good enough or ready.
Seems like yesterday I was watching that star licks video of Steve lukather. I mean I must of whatched it a thousand times. Just whatching him explain his gear and listening to the tones and presets he had changed my whole perspective of music. Nothing wrong with other types of music and creativity. He took it to the highest level allowed. It just don't get any better than that. It's very cool of him to compliment and encourage creativity especially when he's the master. Awesome
Hey man, Mike here, just a regular drummer, stumbled across your channel. I'm not surprised people dig this, I love the riff, your tone and the tele, sounds freakin awesome. Luk taking the time to leave such a great comment is epic, absolutely end-game! 🤘
me personally, i listen to you for your heart felt riffs and tasty solo's not all about how many notes can i play in 10 seconds. solo's make up such a short, small part of a song. make every note count like you do. Go Steve. Oh, and i loved it too, if that means anything.
Your Riffs are the sh*t... Personally I prefer riffs over solos but that's just me. Killer tone and feel on your Riffs. You come up with such cool sounding stuff.
I remember watching that video when you posted it here in youtube and I loved it - i am way more into that kind of slower melodic solos than crazy shredding...and hey, if it is approved by Luke...well done and well deserved...
Honestly, it really is one of the biggest compliments. He really is one of the high arbiters of quality. He’s in the pantheon. And, he’s also right. Love your work so much.
Congrats... you deserve that compliment.. I am so glad I found you page ... I'm inspired and your music is amazing .. do you have a band I'd love to hear more !!
I'm a fan of Luke and a part-time session player myself, but just to get my own opinion on the solo without knowing Luke's take on it - just to not get influenced by what he'd say thus coming up with mine, I stopped the video at 1:20 and wrote this right away! I would say that I'm inspired by both the solo and your chord progression on this one! That was great all in all!
Greetings from Nova Scotia Canada first of all let me start with your much deserved Congratulations! I literally just came across your channel today after being on a huge Steve Lukathur kick and searching for videos of the “Running with the night” solos in it read the title & thought of my own achievements in guitar music over the years and the curiosity of what would it be like made me click I must say that I can definitely understand your thought process regarding the solo although that first 30 seconds is the perfect example of a Nirvana style solo and as soon as you hit that power cord that leads into the real meat of that solo I went from thinking ok where is this going and what cake is this the icing for? (A Zakk Wylde reference to a quote of the solo is just the icing on the cake and his soup recipe references bunched together you’ve got all kinds of flavours and it’s just what ingredients you add to get the final product some recipes need it some don’t sometimes you need vanilla and other times you need chocolate cheesecake) and as soon as you hit that low note and start really playing 1) I agree with Mr. Likathur it’s killer and in todays guitar community being very ego driven and Yngwie like all speed no control and just about showing off something that really builds up and surprises you halfway through really focusing on “the Gilmore effect” putting the emphasis on making each note count and using emotion to add emphasis and using the bait and switch extremely slow & simple buildup is really the difference between impressively complex, fast & technically good solos and great solos and your bravery to push the limits of repetition in the beginning just far enough that it’s a Barr or two away from losing interest right at the moment the tension builds to the braking point and the way you use that to build up to make that change come to a really genius “you have my attention now sir” moment as the solo reaches its climax while not overplaying or underplaying it either isn’t the norm in “todays guitarist” and it’s not exactly easy to walk that line of not enough/too much while going right to the edge without going over it!
Frankly, I don't how come you only have 2.1 k subscribers here on YT. Almost invariably, when I listen to your playing I turn up the volume. I know it's hard to say who are among the best guitar players on the Internet, because there are so many and still counting. But to my taste your guitar playing sounds outstanding! You're one of my favorites! I really like your style! You're awesome!! Keep it up, Joey!
My son got a comment from the great Zakk Wilde, When he was 10! Best day of his life, it really did change his outlook on life and guitar, I was a really proud dad for sure
Hi Joey - I stumbled onto your channel a few weeks ago. I found your approach, playing and musical feel to be excellent. I subscribed. A thumbs up from Luke is the gold standard as far as I'm concerned. Good for you - enjoy it !
i've never heard of you before today but that solo has the same passion that lukather layed down on the time is the enemy song on the tambu album......it gave me goosebumps!!!!!
Good solos should be melodic with fast burst. That is how I play and the solo you played. Don't listen to haters. It is not how many 16th notes you can do in a bar. Speed is nothing without feeling. Music is about emotion.
Sometimes people think you can't do something just because they think it's not you style, and in really you don't show it because for you is basic practice. Happens to me many times in my line of work and life (not music, but it's the same)
Jesus Steve Lukater, call your solo killer, you do not need no one to make an opinion of what you do. But I want to tell you something, I love this video of yours is one year ago, but I remember paying a VIP and be alone with Steve Vai and his guitar Evo, I got 20 minutes of questions. What you figure it now is exactly what Steve Vai told me about my composing. You were like me too worried about the others, Steve Vai told me very gently that every song he does is to please him. To be short you now got the right perspective, because someone as big as Steve Lukater liked, your solo. A very beautiful one if I have to say so. So remember please yourself, that what it matters, do not pleased others because is a hole world out there each head a diferent mindset. Keep doing what you like and congratulations.
Nice one buddy, and just goes to show we are not always the best judge. Similar thing happened to me years ago with Greg Howe (on facebook of all places) with something i put up - got shared and woke up one morning to a friend request from the man 😳 Still FB buddies and obvs still talking about it 😅
From :50 seconds on, it’s pretty good. Up to the :50 second mark, I was like “this is boring AF.” But then from about :52 on, it’s good. I went from “this is boring AF” to “here we go! You should have started from there!” 😂 Nice video, man. Always cool when someone unexpected like Steve shows up and gives you a minute of their time.
Hey Joey!! You just nailed it again... In words and thoughts this time. The riffs in question are good-- not great -- J.J stuff, yet way good enuff to release. I am stuck in the same boat, rehearsing numerous songs over and over before even pressing record for a personal demo...Duh, I'm starting now! PS, I recall a Pagey style rhythm riff you did back when I first subscribed, and the then you brought in one of your BIG note - I own this moment solos... Well; nobody can create those moments every time!... Nobody... Not even you. PS;2, I bought a S. Lukather Ibanez Roadstar - Marine blue with gold hardware - back in January 84, I still got it after 500 thousand miles.
Luke is one of the nicest guys in the biz… but also one of the most honest. This is worth its weight in gold.
Yes, I met him numerous times during the 90s and 2000s - no BS!
How would you know? 🙄
