Why does a Telecaster that is tuned to Drop B sound SO good? Especially when it's a traditional Fender Telecaster. And there a super light strings on it! Light gauge strings combined with low tunings is just very uncommon sounding. And I like that guitar sound.

If you play powerchords in regular shape in Drop-D you can really easily transform your single-finger powerchords into minor & major diads. Easy powerchords + add9 chords + maj/min. diads = You can even further + pretty easily do dark melodic stuff in Drop-D. Personally I play a lot of Drop-C actually, which is pretty much the same, just everything's another whole-step lower. That stuff here sounds even darker but also even more mystical / mythical in Drop-C. Just make sure to use thuicker strings, than normal, when trying Drop-C, otherwise, your strings will be too slinky to sound good. ^^

I'm trying to get the mess of cables on my desk organized and would like to do something like what you have. Rack mounted gear with a monitor and speakers on top. Your setup looks slick. Can't quite tell what you have besides the Kemper though. Some mic pres? I'm thinking about a rack Helix, rack audio interface, and maybe a compressor. Thanks!

oh the price I paid for these all but 1996 ASAT used, all bought in the 90's. This most expensive by far was the G&L Asat Classic-like new-$550.00. That was high at the time but a bargain in hindsight. The 1996 AVRI, $450 like new was a bargain even then, The Hamer USA T-51 like new $400. The 1996 ASAT new $500.00. The worst buy, 1989 American Standard-$400.

I have several teles. My favorite is super light Ash Body early 90's G & L Asat Classic 3 bolt neck. Incredible tone. It has the tele bite. 2nd Fav. 1996 AVRI, heavy ash plays great sounds great. A close 3rd is a 1994 Hamer USA T51, Ash Medium wt. Plays great, love the Spertzel tuners. 4th- G & L ASAT, 1996, plays great, sounds great. But it has different sound, 5th and by far last 1989 American Standard. Heavy, plays ok, sounds awful. Pick up is terrible.

Playing chord shapes aside from pentatonic is actually a lot to take in: Scales, triads & positions of the chords respective to where they are on the fretboard thus their inversion, and this is way lots compared to "just pentatonic" LOL. Pentatonic is simple and simple can be great. This video tips is very useful for anyone want to break from the shapes of just 5 notes, but kids, learn your scale as well.

Dont overlook other brands. I was hell bent on buying a fender tele and tried several out at a few different stores. Then I plugged jn a guitar and it sounded and felt amazing, i thought it was another tele but it was a G&L ASAT made in Fullerton. I couldn’t sleep that night because the sound and feel was still in my head so i started looking into the G&L guitar and I learned its similar build as a fender custom shop as the company was leo fenders too, a custom shop guitar for much cheaper. Unfortunately though I read a lot the G&L quality is poor in last year so now have to check carefully the guitar before buying.
