  • Elden Ring isn't easy but these Elden Ring tips and tricks will make the Elden Ring mistakes, the silly and common ones happen a lot less often whether you've been playing for 1 hour or 500 hours so I'm going to share some Elden Ring tips & tricks in order to help you out on your journey and stop you making some of the 23 big mistakes that you are probably still making this long after launch. In this video we will cover everything in terms of Elden Ring mistakes for beginner players and even advanced players with lots of game time and high levels. These Elden Ring tips & tricks will help you stay alive longer in battle, stop you locking yourself out of items due to making too much progression too quick and even keep the runes from all of your Elden Ring rune farm efforts when you get destroyed by the tough enemies and bosses in the game. Elden Ring gives you little room for error so knowing these Elden Ring tips will hopefully at least slow down the amount you make the Elden Ring mistakes because they are really common even if you are a crazy high level and you're running an OP Elden Ring bleed build as an example. Let me know your most common mistake whilst playing Elden Ring, share any other Elden Ring tips and tricks you can in the comments below and maybe we can make another Elden Ring guide soon :D

    The tip on knowing when to back out of a boss fight and instead take your time to strengthen your character is spot on. I typically stick to a boss if I think I can take it... If I'm getting obliterated every time then I'll go somewhere else and come back to that boss, but if I'm getting it down to 1/3 or lower before dying I'll typically stick with it until I do manage and it's not normally that many attempts considering how many attempts certain dark souls bosses have made me attempt.

    One tip I have to offer is that if you visit a cave or dungeon and activate the Grace but don’t want to do it just yet, or have difficulty with the boss, you can place a circular icon marker (not the singular ray of light marker) on top of the Grace to provide a visual indicator on your map that you haven’t completed it so that you know which areas to return to later, then just remove it once you do complete it.
    The reason for doing it this way rather than putting a mark for completion is because you are limited to 100 marks and you might eventually run out.

    Another tip, dont sell your items like weapons and gear. They dont affect carry weight at all like other games do (skyrim). Think as if you are collecting them. Your weight only matters for your equipped items aka weapon and armor. Another thing, dont distribute your levels too much, choose like 4 skills to level and stick to them in early game or else you will make it harder for yourself to move forward in the game. Another thing, upgrading your weapon with smithing stones give you a way higher powerspike then leveling up your character levels so its good to find a weapon you like and try to upgrade as fast as possible to take advantage of the powerspike.

      Holding onto weapons and gear doesn't accomplish anything other than feeding a hoarding habit, unless you're thinking that way down the road you might need this or that item. It's better to just fall into love with a weapon / gear, level it up and sell the rest.

    The Fume Knight taught me the value of knowing which way to dodge an attack. When his FUGS starts glowing you HAVE to dodge into it. It has too much reach, moves too slow and in a over 180 degree arc so dodging back or away from it would always get you caught as soon as you came out of a roll.
    I had to drill that into myself because its easy to start panicking and just trying to roll away but you gotta stay cool and dodge the right way. Easier said than done sometimes though.

    One thing about tip #16, the starting class doesnt matter if you want to play only pve. But if you want to play pvp, you will most likely have to stop at a certain level, because you can play only against same-ish level players. This means that if you want an active pvp experience, you have to stop leveling at some point (the most active endgame levels are between 125 and 150). You can respec your stats, but you will be stuck with the ones from the starting class and can reallocate only the level points that you have manually put into stats through leveling up. That means if you start for example with high intelligence and later want to pvp with pure strengh build, you will be stuck with the starting (for your build) useless intelligence points, that could have been in your strengh, vigor, etc.

Word to the wise, don’t speed thru ranni’s quest or it will lock out dung eater summon (you need seluvius alive to unlock) also killing the big blood boss (Morg, or however you spell it) before getting the white mask, because for whatever reason u won’t be invaded if you do. #16: If you plan to stop leveling at a specific level, as many people do (so they have more PvP options, for example), then your starting class is important. You can never respec the stats your class starts with, only the new ones. You should figure out which stats will be most important to your character, and pick the class with the highest sum for those stats (and if the starting level for the class is below 10, add 1 stat point for every level below 10 they start with: i.e. Astrologer starts at level 6, so figure out the sum of their stats and then add 4).

    Some more tips regarding Rune Arcs: 1) You can get them from successful invasions into other players' worlds. 2) If you're more of a PvE player, get your discovery up (Arcane stat/Silver birb leg/Silver Scarab) and go farm rats - in Castle Morne or somewhere else where are lots of them and a convenient Site of Grace nearby for respawning them. 3) Don't use Rune Arc if you have a lot of acrobatics ahead of you - especially climbing them Divine Towers, fall damage is the hardest boss in this game, Malenia isn't even anywhere close.
    And, for the love of Marika, don't waste your Starlight Shards! You can use them as a currency with one certain NPC in mid-late game.

    Guilty of missing Ranni for the 3 wolves and summoning bell, this would have helped alot at the start.
    Also I was guilty of frantic rolling to begin with, though I did learn to stop doing this. I agree with rolling towards an enemy, learnt the hard way with rolling away or to the side. Or you can simply run round to the back of the enemy and attack, this is simple to do when locked on to an enemy. Some bosses turn slow where you can take full advantage of this. Others turn much quicker and may not be as viable, though regardless, this has helped many a fight!

      I nearly missed Irina's quest by not finding her father at the castle and also Yuras too by not helping him at the academy.
      My problem was pushing on to quick to soon. And also skipping dialogue, instead of taking the time to listen to what the npc's say.

    FightinCowboy got me past most of these problems. Never used Baldachin’s blessing in combat, just exhausted Fia’s quest line and gave the dagger to D. On my last new game, a skeleton killed D out by Summonwater and I got his awesome twin armor set!

    As far as Church of elleh goes, you need to return there at night time.
    As for rune use and selling, you can always just click use selected, and use 10 or 99 instead of 1... saves a trip to a merchant

      You also need to die at least one time to get Ranni to spawn. Not a problem for a first play through. But, something to keep in mind for subsequent play throughs.

    I think a lot of people don't sprint because this is the first Soulsborne with a state change between in-combat and non-combat, where your stamina doesn't deplete when you're not in combat. Gotta break those habits! Just be careful when you go back to other games and expect to be able to sprint everywhere. It caused a lot of sticky situations when I went back to Plat DS2 and kept expecting to still have stamina after doing a running attack to the first enemy in a horde.
    Also, I forgot about Great Runes for most of my first playthrough. Probably started using Rune Arcs around Leyndell/Altus Plateau. And I still finished the game with 70+ Rune Arcs. Anyone afraid of running out is doing something wrong.

    Very well done for new gamers to the game. I think my son was having issues with it. I just started a new game after finishing it. Won't make some of the mistakes again. Do all quest lines if possible. I was like wtf at the end because all I did really was Ranni's. It was a Game of Thrones ending where you say WTF. 8 seasons and it ends like this.

    I played my 150 hour first play through with colossal weapons and i have to say that i find the back step attack very useful in because a lot of the enemies are programmed to punish backwards rolling quite a lot in this game. you can use it for your advantage like roll backwards agro the enemy and then backstep attack. Also if you have high endurance like i did i find it much better to block than roll when two handing my weapon and then punish with a guard counter the chip damage you get is quite minimal. I have read a lot of qritique about the boss speed versus player and finding openings for attacks, i did not find that problematic only thing i think should be faster is the healing animation. it is much more harder to find a safe healing window in elden ring than other from games. what are other players thoughts about this it would be fun to know and i have to say elden ring was the best open world game i have played and is my second favorite fromsoft game the first is sekiro.

    • @odynzeyez6259
      @odynzeyez6259 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think healing in sekiro is harder especially in late game boss fights, especially Genichiro and Isshin. It's like they know you're attempting to heal and flash across the screen at you to knock some of what you just healed off. I swear they've damn near dashed across the arena to stop me from healing.

    • @tomisalonen8029
      @tomisalonen8029 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@odynzeyez6259 Yes no i remember they definetly read your heal animations also in sekiro, especially in the genichiro fight if you were at right distance and tried to heal, genichiro always try to shoot you with the bow this remaind me of certain godskins in Elden ring😆

    About the runes you get from the skulls. If you change the view so it show your character when the inventory is open,you can use consumables. It is a bit faster this way with the runes.

    Another huge mistake people should be warned about:
    Selling limited stock items from merchants that you can't get back until your next playthrough.
    On my very first save file, I was going through my inventory selling off extra stuff I didn't need. And I failed to notice the difference between the regular caestus and the spiked caestus, and sold my spiked one. Unfortunately there is only one spiked caestus for sale from one particular merchant in the entire game, and once I sold it, it became impossible for me to ever get it back before NG+. Any weapons or armor sold by merchants are often limited to a single stock, and if you buy and sell any of those items, they're gone for good! So be very careful not to sell off anything you can't get back.

  • @grogueQ
    @grogueQ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great list. By now I had figured out most of these, the one I keep forgetting is the same as you, using the great runes. The one I disagree with is holding on to your runes. I have been playing for close to two hundred hours and I only have three sacrificial twigs, so there really aren't that many. Plus it takes up an important Talisman slot. Honestly, once I stopped worrying about runes it made the game so much more enjoyable. There are a couple of cool rune farming spots in the game, some for early game and some for late game. You can look these up, there's hundreds of videos on TH-cam. Also, some new players think you lose everything when you die, but all you lose is runes. Anything else you pick up you keep, even those golden runes you find. I like to keep a good amount of those in my inventory just so when I find a merchant I have something to buy stuff with.
