- Getting Personal (And a Little Awkward) with The Killers (Vevo)
Vevo’s Kim Taylor Bennett connected with The Killers a decade and a half ago in the UK - but as our new interview with the band reminds, each side remembers the meeting a bit differently. No prob: this new in-depth chat with singer Brandon Flowers and drummer Ronnie Vannucci straightens out everything you need to know about the band and their new album, ‘Wonderful Wonderful.’ The Vegas outfit have been one of the alt-rock’s most reliable bands since they dropped the classic ‘Hot Fuss’ on the world in 2004. That kicked off a string of massive videos that run from “Mr. Brightside” and “Somebody Told Me” to “Miss Atomic Bomb” and “The Man.” This time ‘round Bennett gets Flowers to talk about the latter track, which he says was inspired by his own life when he was in his early 20s. Also on the docket: how the lyrical doors open when the songs turn introspective, articulating emotions by writing songs, being prodded creatively by the Strokes, other members of the band deciding to abandon the road, and lessons learned by watching Mike Tyson.

The Killers have been my favorite band since the first time I heard "Somebody Told Me" on the radio in England in 2004. It's been nice to see the band through the years as they mature and try new things. And I would never have guessed Ronnie was funny!
I have to say Kim Taylor Bennett is a really great interviewer. I like that she doesn't care that there "rock stars". Reminds me of those late night good interviews you would get from back in the day on MTV.

"Read my Mind" is easily my favorite song, without question. When I hear it I'm instantly taken back to the time it came out, it sparks nostalgia regardless.

Man i miss The Killers! Have been a fan since 2012 and i really miss every album feeling i got, i still remember every single lyric! You go killers! Brandons voice will be forever my favorite choice for a life soundtrack! And i also enjoy the solo projects the band members make, Flamingo and Big talk are amazing, i have tried Marks solo project but it was a diferent style than i'm used too but hey, come back to Brazil as soon as you guys can! The world has not forgoten about you!!!!

Great interview! So much love for this band. I'm surprised Brandon talked about his wife's ptsd but I'm so glad he did. Happens to the best of us. Wish I had gone to therapy sooner. It's made a huge difference in my marriage.

It's just amazing that she got to interview them in 2003 like just a year before they became huge and then 14 years later in 2017 promoting their 5th studio album. Brandon must have looked soo different back then, but then again not much has changed with their awkward interviews, hahaha.
