- This week I go to the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival.
I couldn't possibly document all the boats, there are several others that have done that very well.
I just wanted to share my experience and give you a flavour of the festival.
Additional footage, @RenegadeADV , Demian Detweiler
Here is the Port Townsend Electric boat company we mentioned.

Some viewers may be interested in some previous videos about Land Rovers. They're at my previous channel, Riverport Rovers.

Here is the build series about my truck. A rather modified Series II Land Rover.
bit.ly/2ziYQbv
I rather silly build and road trip to the famous Land Rover Winter Romp in Maine.
bit.ly/2zjtPUW
A slightly less silly road trip to Cape Breton that does involve painting flames on a Land Rover.

The series that started it all. A crazy plan to build a Land Rover in one day from assorted bits lying around.

There's a few other videos that might be of interest at Riverport Rovers including the beginning of a Boler trailer refit.

Well met, all Lady Z Peter and Poem. Will be rewatching this episode certainly.
Poem looks great moving through that chop.
Life is good. Peter is at his best, and it is so much fun to watch and sip a beer while viewing an episode!!
Wood boats everywhere, Poem, good beer-now that’s an adventure. Thank you so much for sharing!!!
Great to see such professionals/craftsmen keeping the wooden boats tradition alive. And to see the future of solar on boats.
That last boat looks like a high latitude boat made for arctic adventures
Ive been doing all different versions of electeic on my boats for around 6 years now. Im onto building a larger hybrid boat now because the larger boat will go offshore, and i prefer the redundancy and reliability. Safety is first. I see electric great for day sailing and coastal cruising. Hybrid for offshore.
Adventure, Travels With Geordie:) what a great 2023 with U.
Thanks for the background on Lacey. We were checking it out during the boat show.
I wish I had smell a vision , nothing better than smelling teak on a wooden boat.
I hope you enjoyed your ADVENTURE at the wooden boat festival.
We need a whole extra full length interview on that electric boat if you can fit it in between your adventures. Fascinating stuff.
I'm sure that could be arranged.
Hear! Hear!
One day I would like to adventure north from New Zealand to the festival also. 🎉
Officer and A Gentleman filmed in Port Townsend.
It was based on and written for Pensacola, Florida. The US Navy have a huge base there.
But, DOD wanted script changes. The director said no. Port Townsend had a recent shuttered base which was given over to the state.
WOW!!!
Ha, I saw that Beta 25 at the show and thought of you! I don’t have a great solution but there were quite a few interesting boats that were rafted up with awkward (or at least not obvious) access. Oh well, first world problems…. Enjoy your adventure!
It’s always an adventure watching you pour a beer. You mastered it in this episode. Cheers!
Adventure
The word of the week is Adventure which is exactly what you just had. Have a good one. And..
Have fun!
Stay safe and we'll see you next week.
Have you ever considered doing a super-edit of all of the Beer of the Week ? It'd be a pain in the butt for you, but quite the adventure for us all to watch.
Heh, crazy idea!
It would have been a fine time even if I hadn’t gotten to meet you and POEM, but with that lovely surprise added, right there on my first ever day in PT, it was fantastic! Thanks, Peter for being such a great host! All the best!
I'm so glad you enjoyed yourself
So glad you liked the beer, Peter! Such a great pleasure to meet you and I’ve definitely fallen in love with M/V Poem and totally understand why you have arranged the two comfy couches in the front where the helm is. Sitting so comfortably with the windows propped open, gazing out while casually steering the boat with one hand. Brilliant. You’ve certainly proved that even a small 28 foot boat can feel so much bigger. Hope you were able to download the hi-res photos I took of you and M/V Poem that I sent. Cheers!
Thanks so much. I'm so far behind with everything just now but look forward to checking out your shots.
@@TravelsWithGeordietotally ok and I know how busy you are. Please let me know if you can get them I think the link I sent you expires but I can send it again. Cheers!
Yet another adventure along with Travels with Geordie. Thanks.
Wonderful content, music and production, as always. God Bless Y'all.
Great entertainment peter, what a talented young lad Damien is.
Wow! That aluminum sailboat looked like the ultimate steam punk adventure boat. I would love to come up from the Texas Gulf Coast and attend the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival. Maybe next year!
It's for sale some time.
I met Damion when I was in haulout at Haven boat works when he was workin on his boat, fine young man.
Indeed.
Peter, it was great to meet and talk to you. The wooden boat festival is always an adventure. Did you get over to see NONCHALANT in the Boat Haven?
Sadly I didn't but I'll be back down sooner than later.
Great following your wooden boat adventures, Peter. Keep up the amazing work!
Many thanks!
Would love to visit that boat show! Suffice it to say that if I went to the beer tent on Thursday night I would not have been up at 6:30 on Friday morning! If you let me crash on POEM I coulda made breakfast for ya! Surely I might have been able to have an egg boiled by around 11:00 or so! Thanks for posting this. Absolutely love your channel!
nothing like classic wooden boats, they are beautiful.
Poem motors, well, but looks a down by the bow.
I will be interested to watch the motor swap when it hhappens
She's ridiculously bow heavy. Way too much ground tackle.
I'll be sorting it out.
That boat show was a great time, it was good seeing you there Peter. Glad I could introduce you to Demian, he is a good man, hopefully this will be just one more of many adventures to be had!
Oh, and please exclude me from the word of the week! I would rather one of your other viewers gets the shirt!
What a fun weekend!
Sorry I did not get the chance to see you at the festival. Loved seeing MV Poem! Keep up the good work!
Next time!
Peter, what an incredible video!!! It really shows how much you enjoyed the show. Poem looks amazing! This video honestly made my day!!! Thank you for sharing your time with us.
Wow, thank you!
You remind me of Captain Haddock from Tintin!
Heh.
Loved this episode showing classic wooden boats and meeting different people with their ideas good job showing us all this Peter.
Wonderful video! I could see you salivating over that little Beta-marine diesel!!! So was I. Love the videos!!!!
I was hoping on your adventures in Port Townsend that that you might have met J. Michael Davidson on SV Starlight.
Great to see young talented shipwrights. Keep up the good work.
Good to see you this week. The show looked great.
I'm about to embark on my own adventure returning to the USA to attend the (I apologise for the autocorrect it should read) Annapolis boat show! (edited!!)
🐾🐾🐾 🐈
So happy to see you again my friend! That aluminum boat looks like something from a Mad Max movie.
Hey, it was nice to meet you on Saturday. Thanks for the walk-through, I can show off what I saw to those that couldn't make it (I took some pictures but you got the whole show in here). That fully solar boat was amazing.
I was at Fort Flagler campground Friday evening, there were a few boats moored down below. Great spot for both on-water and on-land!
Great to meet you too. What a fun weekend!
It 's been quite an Adventure watching you in your travels !!
You made Damian’s day. What a great guy. Love his story.
The E-Boat was also cool. Thanks for another great episode, Peter!
Thanks Stephan
Half-and-half is 50% whipping cream and 50% whole milk. That puts it around 19% milk fat. That's much more inline with what you're used to. Hopefully you can use that information to help you along on your next adventure!
Ahh, that certainly makes sense. Thank you.
Poem looks a little down at the nose when she's steaming
I noticed that as well...
I "thirdly" thought the same. Great episode Peter. Thankyou.
Chain rode weight it's sporting at this time.
Yup, way too much ground tackle.

Wow!!! That alloy yacht! What's the go with the seat at the mast? How is this guy/girl going to live in the ocean without access to 3 phase and a decent welder? I absolutely love it, the skills, the time, the ideas. Never thought I'd say that about a metal boat. Must be a very interesting person with an amazing story.
LOTS OF WOODIES
Hi Peter you have produced good coverage of the Festival and I enjoyed them.👍 BTW looking at Poem while motoring, is she trimmed by the bow a tad too much?
She's ridiculously bow heavy. Way too much ground tackle.
I'll be sorting it out.
@@TravelsWithGeordie 😀👍⛵️
Can't believe you didn't visit Leo of Tally Ho... what a missed opportunity!!!!! 😣😥😥😥😥😥
It was a mad house over there.
What an adventure you have had! Too bad you didn’t get to meet Leo from Tally Ho!
Thank you Peter for a Great Show. What a show. Great to see young talent getting into the industry. Cheers.
Hallo Peter, we are in Victoria at this very moment, maybe we can meet tomorrow (Tuesday 26th) regards Henk
Oh geez, I'm so sorry I'm so far behind with comments.
Next time!
@@TravelsWithGeordie no problem, we didn’t saw one of your boats in the harbor.
But we loved Victoria a lot so maybe in the future, happy sailing and keep up the good work love it😬😜

Is that couple extra short or you like 7 ft tall LOL you look like a giant! Another great video keep it up! Ps. Poem looks a lil bow heavy though looking great!
Heh, weird camera angle.
She's ridiculously bow heavy. Way too much ground tackle.
I'll be sorting it out.
Please include how, or in what manner, someone used the word of the week in a sentence.
I keep thinking I should do that.
I couldn't see the link for the electrification information!?
My bad, it's there now.

@@TravelsWithGeordie Sweet!
THEY HAVE A BEER TENT ?? !
Oh they do!
@@TravelsWithGeordie SO COOL !!!
Peter! Did you get to see Tally Ho?
No, it was a mad house over there.
@@TravelsWithGeordie I can only imagine! It is so amazing that such a young guy has amassed the knowledge and the strive he has. I really envy both of you for getting out there and doing what you love. I am doing the same thing but because of health at a much slower rate. Keep up the fantastic work. I await each episode with baited breath.
Peter, just curious but Poem seems to be bow heavy, it doesn't look right to me. Just an observation mate. Take care, love your channel.
She's ridiculously bow heavy. Way too much ground tackle.
I'll be sorting it out.
Who built that aluminum sailboat, Inspector Gadget?
Pretty much!
I'm not sure how the word of the week/t-shirt contest works. Clearly it isn't judged by who posts the word of the week first...so...is it just random?
Don't worry you'll figure it out if you are watching.
Just random
Hi Peter, you seem to be talking to yourself a lot more. Are you okay? Just seems to be a bit strange anyway love your videos keep up the good work
Um, err, OK...
