This movieeeeee wooow, Man guys there were Sooo many twists at the end that I just did not see coming, things are going to change going forward I can’t wait, also I’m not above apologising if/when I’m wrong in regards to my assumptions about Peeta ( Can we get a Like on this comment for the MVP of this movie “Peeta” please - 1 like = Justice for him )
Cinna knew EXACTLY what he was doing with that Mockingjay dress. He was fully prepared to die for what he believed in. And like he said--he was always betting on her.
You know when you look at it like this you can’t blame him, he went out for something he believed in and at that point you can only respect his decision.
In fact, it's likely he was part of the rebellion the entire time. Or if not from the beginning, at least during this movie. His job was to help her by raising her profile and popularity, but he also genuinely felt empathy for her and wanted to help her in her dire situation.
Joanna didn’t “kill” Katniss because that was never her aim. She simply cut the tracker out of her arm, and covered her in blood, telling her to “stay down” so the careers would assume she’s dead. Katniss can’t die, she’s their mockingjay, and Joanna and Finnick couldn’t let her die, hence their alliance in the games.
First thing to know about Katniss: she's a terrible actress. If she's pretending it's quite noticeable and awkward. so yes, all the things she feels in the games are real.
This. In the first movie one of the few points she really shows genuine emotion and concern towards Peeta is when he almost eats the berries, and you can tell.
Here's a fun fact they didn't show in the movies : The games Haymitch won was the 2nd Quarter Quell (50th year) where they had 4 tributes per district, i.e. 48 participants.
@@RicoPresents To go a bit further here (also because it's never really mentioned in the movies): Haymitch wins the games by abusing the outer forcefield of the arena. There was a huge abyss on the edge and everything you threw in there flew right back up again. He used that to make his last opponent pretty much kill himself. The capitol saw this as an act of mockery (just like the nightlock berries by Katniss) and killed everyone Haymitch loved. His whole family including his girlfriend.
@@jorbador1484 Not just by their own districts. All of Panems Districts were allowed to vote on any District's tribute. Iirc most district's tributes that year were highly wanted criminals or peacekeepers.
I'm always stunned by Peeta. He is so important as a character both in literature and popular culture. How many male characters do we see who are thoroughly kind, sensitive and selfless, and who above all are comfortable with being rescued by their female love interest? I'd like to see more relationships like this and less borderline abusive stalker boyfriends.
yeah.. because peeta was the one playing the role that most women play in literature and movies. peeta as a character is for katniss and in this case he is the ideal man but he is also the one being abused and heart broken.
What's so messed up is that Peeta was never faking it. He was being extra charming about that but he was never acting. He was desperately ready to end it all in love and thought she was the same. He thought this only to realize that only did he lose his leg in the games (he has a prosthetic now), not only did his family abandon him after the games, but he also found out that it was all a lie.... only... was it? Even Katniss isn''t entirely sure. But it's a testament to his character that he's never cruel to her... only polite and cold. I love this dude. By the way, yes they can hear everything said in the games so they're all very careful... well... lol... almost all of them. But yeah, Plutarch (the game maker) is part of the rebellion. He's been trying to hint to Katniss the whole time that he was on her side. The thing about the other tributes being part of it... that's why Finnick and the "Morphling" girl tribute both saved Peeta... They were trying to get them both out because they knew that Katniss wouldn't help them unless they saved Peeta too. But it just didn't work out that way.
Yeah you know what Cara, I never thought of it like that, he really was ready to end it all for her in the first one, waiiiitt what he lost his leg? The books seem soo different I really must give them a read at some point, but yeah there was a few scenes in this one that had me saying, " he's a better person than I am" because he really stepped up in a way that I just thought to be honest was admirable, that whole rebellion twist I really never saw coming soo I like this movie extra for catching me off guard!! but yeah thank you Cara for taking the time to explain than I appreciate you!!
@@margisama His leg was also damaged in the movie. They replaced it with a prosthetic when he won the game. That's why he tripped when he and Katniss met in front of the camera. He isn't used to it.
Katniss always felt SOMETHING for Peeta, but it wasn't until this games that she realized how much he meant to her. She truly didn't want to lose him and was ready to die to keep him alive. She comes to terms with the fact that Peeta is the only one who can understand her and the PTSD they both have from the games.
The Hunger games was advertized and marketed like some twilight teen drama bs. Its actually a really grim display of post war PTSD and how it changes people. It shows pretty accurately the night terrors, flash memories, personality dissossition and other problems caused by mental trauma from combat. A lot of the film is just about how these once struggling but functional people are diminished by the pain they endure and forever scarred by it.
Back when Katniss entered the Capitol party, note how casually someone touched her as she passed. Without spoiling the coming movies, I'll tell you this: Like Haymitch said, Victors "never get off this train". It's not just that they become mentors, it's worse than that. Snow/Capitol citizens can ask ANYTHING of a Victor, and if that Victor refuses, the Capitol starts executing people they love. If you watch the deleted scenes from the first movie, you can see how differently the pretty blonde girl, Glimmer, is treated. Let's just say her sponsors expected repayment if she won. Johanna never did what they asked and she says, "They can't hurt me. There's no one left that I love." Haymitch, well he pulled a stunt like Katniss did with the berries when he competed, and he refused to cater to Capitol whims, so he has no one, just his alcohol. Victors with living friends and relatives did NOT escape the abuse. They submitted to it.
Precisely! it doesn't come through very clearly in the movies how awful life AFTER the games are too. They never leave the games...just new games being played...
You have to imagine, Haymitch watching two young people from his district dying for 23 years in a row - explains his drinking problem and why he was such an ass in the first movie - he is just done with the world not having been able to help the kids year after year.
In the books in the 2nd Quarter quell, 50 years through, there were 48 kids double the usual amount haymitch killed a lot of people and his district buddy also died, in the end there were 2 people left haymitch and a district 1 career, the edge of the arena, force field, had something that when you throw a weapon it will bounce back, the career girl threw the axe at haymitch and he ducked then it came back at her and struck here straight into the face and she died, he was the only one left, after the games the Capitol was thought he was using the force field against them and they got mad so they decided to kill his loved ones and they made him hear the screams of them dying, of course he would be traumatised and he has seen so many people from his district die, its sad but true, this happened in the book, but they might have done that to katniss in the movie
You don't need to apologize for not seeing Peeta's reasoning for joining the careers in the last movie, but.... yeah, you CLEARLY get why now, and that everything that boy has done has been to keep Katniss alive. They didn't show enough that Peeta got hurt saving Katniss from the careers when she was weak and hallucinating due to the venom from the stings she suffered, nor did they make it clear later on that he only joined the careers to try and prevent them from finding Katniss, and to be able to step in and protect her if they DID find her. As someone who has read the books I had the knowledge of that, but you didn't. I LOVED your reaction to this film though! You really got Peeta this time around, and it was so entertaining to see you freak out and get so invested in everything that was happening. Already excited for your reactions to the last two movies!
Yeah Sarah Im not going to lie, in the first movie if I’m being honest and maybe it’s because I was reacting so I may have missed certain signs but it wasn’t overtly clear that Peeta was trying to save Katnis in the first movie, maybe the book really highlights that but from what I gathered in the first one was a totally different character to the guy in the second....I do want to say though thank you very much for this comment and genuinely glad you’re enjoying these reactions these movies have a way of getting me to stress/freak out or just overall be in my emotions it’s soo weird but I love it ahah I’m glad you’re looking forward to the next ones, i start filming part 1 tomorrow!! But once again thank you for taking the time to comment and engage with me I appreciate that soo much !!
I think the defining moments where katniss starts feel genuine love for peeta and isnt acting (even if she herself doesnt fully realise this transition) is probably shown in the beach scene where they kiss and also when peeta nearly dies in the force field. You can see Finnick watching them and looking kinda confused and taken aback at Katniss' genuine distress as she sobs while hugging peeta after he is revived. Shows how the other tributes begin to see it isn't the fake relationship they thought it was.
That’s also when Snow was ‘convinced’ like when he had said at the beginning to convince him when Peeta died for a split second and she lost it she convinced snow like he told her. I think that’s why they put that scene there with Snow and his granddaughter to like show that she convinced him.
I actually agree I think it’s crazy how that unfolded I was even thinking what’s going on here, I’m glad though because it showed you just how much everyone whether it be Finnick, Snow, You me, we’re all watching trying to see what it means, it’s gripping and I can see why people in the capital find it entertaining (even though it’s messed) you can see a bit why they’re drawn to katnis and peetas love story!
She started feeling for him in the cave in the first book/movie. In the book, she says “I feel something stirring in me, making me want more than just one kiss” But she didn’t want to fall for him because in the beginning of the book she talks about never getting married or having kids since she’s afraid of them being sent to the hunger games or her husband dying since her dad died.
I don’t know if someone else has told you this but the main reason why the arena was water at the start was sort of a message to Katniss: this world is no place for a girl on fire.
Hey Elizabeth, i just want to say firstly thank you for taking the time to comment and share that with me, I’m big on finding out gems about the movie I other wise would never of known, also I don’t believe I’ve seen anyone say that soo thank you, that’s actually quite interesting!
Also If I remember correctly she can't swim? I remember she didn't know what Finnick was doing when he was trying to revive Peeta because she has never seen anyone drown, because there's no sea or rivers in District 12.
@@ladybird3 She can swim. Her father taught her when she was younger, but she had never seen anyone perform CPR before- which is commonly needed where Finnick is from.
Lyanna, genuinely this movie is just soo good that I’m like trying to engage and explain my thoughts but then im there like “👀” what she say , who did what now?” Loool I’m going to re watch them after so I can really appreciate them, but loving this series so far!
U honestly are the best reactor iv watched for these movies. The movies don't actually do peeta justice, he was amazing in the books. Can't wait for the next one, its my favourite. I'm away to re read the books now until the next reaction 😁
Wow Shauni that is such an amazing compliment honestly I really appreciate that, I think I really will at some point get around to reading the books because soo far the movies are incredible and I really am enjoying the journey its taking me on, best of all it allows me to connect with you guys who are absolutely amazing I'm truly grateful for this platform.
The actor who plays president Snow really does such an amazing job. I get chills from this guy every time I watch these movies. Great reaction! Looking foreward to next one. New subscriber here.
Hey Amber welcome to the family, I appreciate you subscribing and you're not wrong every second I was like " This guy" I feel like he played an amazing role because I went through that movie thinking he's the worst person imaginable his mindset and just everything about him make me dislike him soo he did an amazing job!
@@RicoPresents Donald Sutherland. He was in a British thriller movie from the 70s called 'Don't look Now' based on a Daphne Du Maurier short story. That's all I know about him. He's not so dislikable in that movie, a good performance
@@agenttheater5 Don't Look Now is amazing. If you want a likeable performance from Sutherland, check out the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice where he plays the father.
Yes u are correct. The mockingjay is the symbol of the rebellion . So when cinna changed the dress and showed it off to Panem, Snow didnt like that. Remeber he doesnt want a rebellion . Cinna didnt die right away. They took him and tortured him . Asking him questions about the rebellion but he refused. Then they killed him. The morphling: she was apart of the plan to save peeta and katniss and get them out for the rebellion. So that's why she sacrificed herself. And yes Peeta is amazing 😊 Get ready for Part 1
Fun fact: Mags was finnick mentor and she won the 11th hunger games ..the 11th hunger games where the first games where the victors had luxuries after winning since the first ten games the victors just were left back to continue their lives in their district also her games lasted almost 24-28 days
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE!! Okay, so regarding Katniss and Peeta: She herself did care at the end of the first games (in the book, she always said things like "I can't lose the boy with the bread" and stuff) and she does genuinely care, but because of the trauma of losing her father alongside needing to survive, she doesn't really contemplate romantic love towards him or Gale. She doesn't know that she feels what she feels, but the watcher/reader does. She cares about him and loves him but doesn't realize how deeply she loves the boy until the beach kiss. (When he says nobody needs him, she thinks, in the book, that there's one person who will be irrevocably damaged if he died, and that's her) and so the kiss takes place. To be honest, even if the books went more in detail, I like these movies equally as much, they're excellent. The performances are astonishing and the cast (especially Josh and Jennifer, who play Katniss and Peeta) have incredible chemistry. Can't wait for your reactions to Mockingjay 1 and 2!
Speaking about the romantic love you brought up, didn't Katniss say in the books that she didn't want children because she didn't want them having to go through the Reaping? That's why I believe she said she never intended on getting married. I could be wrong it's been awhile since I've read them.
Firstly can I just say thank you for the energy and the information you provided just now, I genuinely love that and it makes this channel and platform feel soo good, so thank you for that also thank you for explaining why maybe she felt how she did towards Peeta, it’s interesting to see it that way so it’s not soo much like she’s playing games with him it’s more that she’s just so focused on surviving not just in the games but I guess in all aspects too, I’m going to read the books at some point, I love hearing you guys information and world building it makes me want to see it for myself, thanks though for making this series even better, watching this with you guys has been an amazing experience!!
I always feel bad when the girl on their Victory Tour says that she wants to volunteer like Katniss did. I'm guessing they were in District 4 at that point, which explains her brain washed enthusiasm. I think they said in the books how the better fed districts like 1, 2, and 4 did typically digest the Capitol's government propaganda more trustingly.
Yes! And I mean not just that, they almost always win the games in 1&2 so for them it's probably not nearly as daunting to watch them every time because they're not losing so many of the people from their town the people that grew up with the people from their district. people from 12 and the other districts are seeing their kids die every year over and over and they have much more negativity attached to the games bc of that. The careers want the glory, the power, the status and the security so they train really really hard so that they can win the games when they go in and get all set up for the rest of their lives. And on and on for glory and status and safety and money. All of that comes to a head when that little girl says that she wants to volunteer it's like you're suddenly seeing the manifestation of everything that you understood was happening before but hadn't yet seen. If that makes sense. It's just so visceral the reaction I had to it as a mother myself and someone who read these books when they first came out when I was a bit younger to see the whole sickness of it in one moment. Like you start thinking about how differently these children are raised and that they're being bred into this system and then the generation above them is powerless to tell them anything to save them.
Ahahah Raysa I love that, honestly I really am enjoying this series and I hope that you enjoy the reaction when you do get a chance to watch it through, as always thank you for commenting and engaging I appreciate you.
I don’t know if someone else mentioned it but the movie had to do things a bit different than the book. A big change they didn’t show BUT would’ve worked very well was showing Haymitch’s games and how he won by manipulating the arena’s forcefield to his advantage. By showing this, you could see that Katniss and Haymitch both won their games by forcing the Capitol to play by their rules (which then resulted in Haymitch’s loved ones being killed and him resulting an alcoholic and Katniss to be punished in tons of ways) and are VERY similar. It also would’ve introduced the force field differently too, however, the other change they did to the movie was the party at the end of the Victory Tour. When Plutarch was dancing with Katniss, he pulled out a pocket watch with a mockingjay symbol on it and he told her, “It starts at midnight” but Katniss thought he meant Snow’s speech started at midnight. We would later find out he was talking about the arena. In the movie, adding that would show us too much and we would know he was good. The movie was just trying to show us how Snow was manipulated by people he trusted since he was too focused on Katniss’ next move.
It can be confusing but when you rewatch it, you’ll catch things you kinda missed the first time around. Also when Johanna cut Katniss’s tracker out, she put blood on Katniss’ neck and told her to stay down because Enobaria and Brutus were coming towards them and the plan was in motion to destroy the arena. Enobaria and Brutus weren’t in on the plan so they saw Katniss and assumed she was dead with the blood on her neck and continued to hunt for Johanna. That’s why Beetee was shocked from the force field because he saw the coil had cut so he was trying to stab it to make the lightening shock the force field and destroy the arena. The last cannon shot when Katniss was like “Peeta!” and she saw the force field shimmer + almost shooting Finnick, was for Brutus. Peeta killed him.
"Look at him just eating biscuits" no idea why I found that so funny.😂😂 Another very important thing that they kind of gloss over in the movies is that each District provides a different thing to the country of Panem, and thats why the tributes have such different skillsets. For example, District 8 provides wood which is why Johanna is good with an axe. District 4 is a fishing district so Finnick won by trapping tributes in a net then spearing them with a Trident and Annie won because the Arena flooded and she was a better swimmer than everyone else. I'm loving these reactions, can't wait for the next one ❤
Ahaha Mika honestly he was just there all relaxed eating biscuits, 😂😂😂 I’m glad you understood why I found that funny too lol, righttttt thanks for that little nugget of information I do like stories or information that help build my story knowledge so I appreciate you.
One point to note about the relationship between Katniss and Haymitch - they are very similar in character and general attitude towards life. Katniss understood it during the 1st games when she was struggling to find water and Haymitch didn’t send her any - she figured out that, as he obviously doesn't want her to die, there must be a reason why he doesn’t send her water - she must be very close to finding it already. She was right and found water soon. So when she received soup for Peeta instead of medicine with a note from Haymitch: "You call that a kiss?" she knew what Haymitch was saying to her - she must pretend she is in love in order to survive. That said, she always had a soft spot for Peeta - to her he always was "a boy with bread" who single handedly saved her family when they were starving. P.S. The change in the symbol at the end meant that Katniss (the mockingjay) is now ready to fight the system. P.P.S. Remember what Plutarch said to Katniss at the party when she asked him why did he become the Head Gamemaker? - "Like you - I volunteered". He did it to get some influence on the games in order to save Katniss and start a revolution. :)
Do not be ashamed of saying "The Claw" I say it everytime I watch this movie. As for your confusion about Katniss, she was acting up until Peeta hit that force field that nearly took his life. And I don't subscribe to a lot of channels because I don't watch everything on their channels but you have this realness for your commentaries that I really enjoy so as of today consider me subscribed.😊😁
Hey Dee, honestly I didn't know if it would be appropriate but it just came out LOL I'm glad I'm not the only one though lol, Can I just take a moment to say thank you for the compliment and also thank you again, this channel is becoming a community that I'm soo very proud to be apart of and having people like yourself who doesn't typically even subscribe to channels really means allot to me, so thank you for doing that when you didn't need to!!
Tails Honestly I don't know if im ready, but I cannot wait either way these movies so far are amazing and Im having such fun watching them with you guys!!
Lol I love how you were trying to hold back those tears haha. This movie is very emotional and exciting and mysterious. All the feels. And the music and visuals are just gorgeous, the latter being a big step up from the last movie.
You know why, its because honestly apart from the movie being genuinely amazing and exceeding all expectations I had of the series, I genuinely feel like I'm making a connection with you guys and it feels amazing to be apart of a community this channel is growing into something Im super proud of and its all just overwhelming and im honestly soo appreciative of it all. And this movie doesn't help me not get into my feeling because its very good at tapping into the emotions!!
I think the scene where Effie elects the tributes is just so sad. She looks so sad for Katniss and she even tried to stop the Guards when they are pulling them inside the house. Edit: Also notice how she like breaths out a little when she reads Haymitchs name? She was happy for Peeta that it wasn't him
Yeahhh she’s really didn’t want him to be there, also I feel like she was just feeling soo defeated in that moment that news must of felt like the world was ending
"Sometimes I get confused by her". Dude, EVERYBODY got confused by her. She's confused by herself. But to sum it up, by the time of the quell and shortly before, Katniss, and all, knew she had deep feelings for him, which she refused to call love. But he had a place in her heart nobody was able to take, not even Gale. It was obvious once he got hit by the force field that she was in love with him, but she was frightened and refused to acknoledge it, since love means loss (something she learned from what her mom went through) and that's why she kept him, and herself, at distance.
You are not only a fantastic reactor, but I really like the way you present the movie in the background. It doesn't feel choppy or disjointed. And, of course, your intelligent comments and genuine emotion really make watching your reactions a true treat. Can't wait for the next one. Awesome job! :)
Wow thank you Margaret for this amazing compliment, honestly I’m soo blessed to have you guys find my channel, you’re soo knowledgable about this movie and it’s such an honor and blessing to be able to watch it with people who are able to get into the reaction with me, makes me feel genuinely connected to you guys I appreciate you, and thank you again for this comment!!
I legit cannot wait Mia, and can I just say thank you for choosing me to spend your time with during quarantine, this movie was actually soooo good I’m excited to see where it all goes and how things turn out!!
@@RicoPresents Excited!! also to answer some of your questions, the reason Peeta was so hurt in the beginning is that Peeta has truly always loved Katniss, but when he found out it was an act during the first games, he was too hurt to talk to her. The Victory was the first time they had talked since the first arena. It's a full-on crazy movie and rewatching after you know the ending makes it so much better!! So excited for you to watch the rest!! The author actually just came out with a new book about the 10th hunger games that is wicked, so check it out if you have time!!
You know I can't even Lie Haymitch is really growing on me, this guy is funny but he's also actually very clever and he's always shown his support for them especially Katnis !! I see why he's your favourite !!
47:50 - He is a rebel and betrayed Snow. He suggested to put Katniss in the games so he could protect her somehow and eventually get her out because Snow was going to kill her somehow if she wouldn't be in the games.Thats also why he voleentered as Head-gamemaker, to make sure Katniss wasn't killed. When Katniss destroyed the arena, he made a quick get away. (From Snow)
i know it’s kinda confusing in the movies, but peeta actually wasn’t acting at all on his part, and though he knew that they bring “star crossed lovers” was a strategy that haymitch thought would help, he was actual like falling in love with katniss and then at the end of the first book he’s like all mad because katniss is like well it kinda was an act...but only kinda lol
Gabi me too after this one im suppperrrr excited to see the next, its literally such a good series and its even better that I get to experience it with you guys for the first time!!
no I honestly loved your reactions its very lovely to see someone liking and getting emotional to something you love and actually trying to understand it. love your reaction can't wait for moreee
Hey Montse, Can I just say thank you for that compliment, I feel like from the first movie it really showed me that this movie is just very deep and well written, to the point that I almost felt like I lived with them and experienced what they went through so it automatically made me feel like I had to try and understand it from another point of view, anyways I just want to say thank you again for your comment its nice to know these reaction videos are being appreciated!!
You are LITERALLY the first reviewer who understood that it was Peeta who drew Rue! Way to go man! Love that finally someone pays attention. (I watched A LOT of the reactions to this movie LOL)
Just a little tidbit, the reason why the symbol shifted three times its a nod to the books covers. The first book has the mockingjay holding an arrow, second with the bird curving and leaning to the left and the final book had it in a more victorious flight position. I fangirled so much at this part and loved every detail they got and matched with the book. I especially loved the way the arena and its dangers were depicted. I cried just as hard as when i read Mags sacrifice into the fog. And i was so glad they kept in the jabberjay wedge of the arena!
"Fun" fact about Mags (the old lady) she won the 11th hunger games which mean she's 80 and the young girl she volunteered for, Annie Cresta (70th victor) is actually Finnick's girlfriend and is heavily traumatized by her games (she's psychotic). That's why Mags took her place.
Fan fact : in the scene where Katniss fought with her bow before the games as practise , all her "enemies" had the weapons of the other victors. All of them , that way it was like she was saying to them , I can kill all of you easily
The second I saw this in my TH-cam feed, I jump to the edge of my seat and pushed play! I'm glad that you saw why Peta is my favorite character, in this one. And yes he was being honest about his love for Katniss. Can't wait till you watch the next one, by the end of it you're going to be more confused than you are on this one! Can't wait! can't wait! can't wait! The symbol at the ending changing is symbolic because of the books. The first symbol was, The hunger games. The second symbol was, catching fire. The third symbol with the wings spread out, is the Mockingjay. 😉 Plus, Peta would forgive you!
Cooper I love this energy ahaha man wow thank you for getting this hype for the reactions this means allot to me seriously, I’m glad that I actually went into the movie with fresh eyes it allowed me to see things differently and I actually came out of the movie more appreciative, ahaha great more confusing stuff not sure how I feel about that one LOL but either way I’m looking forward to the next movies this really is a great series, and right gotchu thanks fo explaining the shifting of the symbols at the end much appreciated!!
you're sooo wholesome, i loved this reaction. it is indeed one hell of a ride but the movies are only half of what the books are. the story is so much deeper than what they show.
Natalia, I just want to say thank you soo very much for your compliment and for taking the time to comment and engage with me on this channel it really means allot to me and I’m glad you’re enjoying the reactions, I will get to the books at some point because honestly this show is amazing!
Yes, the whole capitol can hear what they say to each other and Finnick is talking openly because he wants to let Haymitch know he is reassuring Katniss.
I really did enjoy this Movie and I see why it could be your favourite, I'm excited to see the others and im really happy I got to watch this series with you guys you've all be soon supportive and explained things I would have missed !!
Rico Presents yeah and you may of missed when Finan was talking about exposing president snow’s secrets, he then said how he liked to poison them and you could see the blisters on his lips from when he pretended to drink the poison After you finished the last 2 movies I recommend you watch the Maze Runner Trilogy (hoping you haven’t seen them before), they’re really great movies I’m sure others would agree
Fun fact, haymitch at the last movies end tells katniss that president snow isnt happy with her. He is trying to warn her because the president wasnt happy with him when he won the games and killed his loved ones. It is then used against the other victories like Johanna which snow also killed everyone she loved because she wouldnt do something he wanted her to do. Which is explained in the last two movies. Please keep doing the reacts I really enjoy it!
Watching your reactions under the present circumstances (esp for me as an American also with these movies taking place in a fictional dystopian future America) are making these movies really really emotional. I am riveted. Kind of cathartic. You are a great reactor and I'm so happy to see you feel the really serious lessons the author was intending to teach via these books/ movies. Some people laugh their way through it and I find it kind of disturbing. I just found you today and I'll be binging all of your Hunger Games vids. #justiceforRue Thank you!
Bro you seemed so stressed after the district 11 trip. This freakin movie draws you in. Makes you feel what the characters are feeling and you captured that perfectly. Love the heart felt reaction.
Definitely one of my favourite movies among the four, especially because you can see Katniss actually falling in love with Peeta. Also, "The claw" part killed because even though I only saw Toys Story in French I knew right away what it referred to. You're such a funny and genuine guy, it just shines through the screen and I am so happy to witness your channel grow bigger each time I come and watch one of your reactions. Keep up with these long, wonderful and detailed reactions, you're doing an amazing job !!
Alexis, this is probably one of the best comments I’ve read on here and i actually went to show my mum what you said lol, I genuinely appreciate you sooo much and having you say that, I can honestly say your support though out the videos, going back to HP is unrivalled and you’re one of the OGs of this channel thank you...Also I love that even though you only saw the movie “Toy story” in French you got what I said that’s epic and shows the power of movies lol
Rico Presents Wow thank you so much Rico, I can’t tell you how happy this makes me. I mean everything I said and I’m so glad to be part of your community. Reactors like you, who are close to their subscribers are rare. You are truly a gem. Take care !
Thank you SF, the movie is very well written and it really makes me want to go and read the books, I know there's allot of information that they just can't put in a movie so I think at some point I'm going to find and get me a copy, but it was brilliant some scenes in this movie really just make me think even after the movie is done, how much is linked to real life, and most movies don't do that they end when the movie does so for that reason alone its up there with one of my favourites!
From now on, the picture will get bigger and bigger than Katniss, Peeta, and the Hunger Games, just like you said partway through the video. I can't wait for your reaction to the next one. Peeta is my favorite, if not, one of my favorite characters. He is even better in the books. Stay safe!
Hey BTS lover, I’m super hyped for it as well knowing that this is the changing point in the movie I’m sooo curious to see where things are going to go and what can be expected from the characters going forward, I’m glad you’re enjoying the reactions tho!!
Rico your are the best!!! What I LOVE about your reaction; all the emotions, thoughts, even confusions, is like watching them for the very first time... kudos for that . You should definitely read (or listen) the books, believe me they are even better!
Hey Keren, can i just take a moment to say to to you thank you, you’re such a sweet person for saying those things, and this message has truly made me happy, I love that you’re enjoying these reactions and I can’t wait for the rest and and the journey it takes us on, thank you once again!
Hey Joyce, you know what I'm learning with this movie series its very hard to hold them back, they are well written and I will from this point forwards always join you in the feeling of Justice for Rue!!
These movies seems to get Rico right in the emotions....he is not alone in this. Having seen/read a lot of dystopian fiction I would say the hunger games are really good and more than hold their own.
You know what Stephen, you're not wrong there lol I was just explaining that these movies are amazing story line is great and the actors really make you either hate them or feel the pain /struggle they experience its a really good series so far!!
Thank you Audrey, I appreciate the complement and I’m really glad you’re enjoying the reactions, I can’t wait for the next one either I’m recording it very soon!
Another brilliant reaction! I said this in a comment on your previous hunger games reaction video but I’ll say it again; your reaction videos are the best I’ve seen for this film series. I can’t wait to see your reactions for the final two films, you’re in for a wild ride
Thank you sooo much Leah, I appreciate that more than you know, the best thing about this movie is that it allowed me to really drop my guard and experience something that I never thought I would emotionally, its well written, and its also I feel allowed me to connect with you guys because I feel like I genuinely understand why you like it soo much, or even the emotions you may have felt watching it too, Im looking forward to the rest and I'm glad you're here for this journey to Leah, and thank you again for that compliment !!
Catching fire is such an amazing movie. It's probably my favourite out of the entire series. I love watching your reactions it makes me laugh every time. Looking forward to your next video. 😊
Hey Dilara, Thank you for taking the time to comment and engage with me, I'm glad that you're enjoying the reactions its good to know that Im making you laugh a little bit or at least make you smile, things like that really make my day allot better so I appreciate you telling me, I hope you're good and can't wait to show you the next one when I watch it!!
Head ups Snow couldn’t show the clip of Katniss and gale kissing in the book because after the first games they didn’t want any ‘competition’ for their star-crossed lovers thing. So the Capital convinced the public that Gale was her cousin.
Love Moose thank you for that, I hope you enjoy it honestly and Im really ready for the next ones because honestly Im supper enjoying this series atm so I can't wait for the rest too lol!!
My favorite of the movies! Also Joanna is ma absolute favorite character so I’m gonna tell a fun fact about her😁💖 When they were filming the elevator stripping scene in Atlanta Hotel (while it was in use) a total stranger (a customer of the hotel) just walked in mid-scene! Must’ve been a strange day for him😂
Haymitch is Haymitch is because during the 50th hunger games there was 48 participants in 2nd Quarter Quell, 50th hunger games, 4 tributes from each district and Haymitch was one of them alongside a tribute known as Maysilee Donner, the original owner of the mockingjay pin Katniss is wearing. In the books,Katniss got the Mockingjay pin from her friend Madge Undersee, the daughter of District 12's Mayor, she and her father was not included in the film somehow. The reason why Madge has the Mockingjay pin is because Maysilee Donner is her Aunt and after her death in the games, which may have caused Haymitch the way he is right now because her death was just brutal, the pin was passed down to Madge and then given to Katniss. Maysilee Donner is also Katniss's Mother's Best Friend so giving the Mockingjay Pin to Katniss is like a accidental Symbolic thing.
Thank you Saydi, I love that you love it lol and I’m glad you’ll be watching more and others I appreciate you very much, thank you for taking the time to comment I appreciate it sooo much! Welcome to the family!
Thank you Charlie as always man you’re soo supportive and this channel is only possible because people like yourself show it the love and support it gets !!
There was actually a moment in the book where one day when they were in the training centre penthouse, they had a free day to do whatever as long as they dont leave. Peeta and Katniss had a picnic on the roof and they played a game where they throw an apple at the force field around the centre and the other person catches it. It was not as strong as the one that made peetas heart stop. Anyway that was just a fun fact from the book and this reaction is great!
There really is a lot of fridge brilliance in having Finnick save Peeta. It makes sense that Finnick, who comes from the *fishing district,* would know how to do CPR because drowning is very probably a pretty common occurrence where he's from.
Hey Bryn, I really love this energy and thank you for making this channel a place in which I feel I can be free and just really get into the movie with you guys, I’m excited to see the next two and I’m glad you’re enjoying the reactions!
Been binging your videos, and I just love how emotionnally honest you are, and how you are genuinely enjoying the content you react to! I’m just having a great time watching your reactions, your positivity is just refreshing! thank you for this!
Thank you Alicychwan, I appreciate you commenting and letting me know you’re enjoying the content, and I’m glad you found the channel, soo much more reactions to come so hope you enjoy the rest too!!
your reactions to these have made me want to watch them all again so thanks for that!! i'm glad you reassessed your thoughts on peeta. he really is a little cupcake. also i'm sure you hear this all the time but i could listen to you speak forever - your accent is so captivating :)
Hey Jennifer, thank you for taking the time to comment and engage with me, I just want to say thanks also for the compliment on my voice lol I haven’t actually heard that I just get asked where I’m from lol but thank you and I’m glad you enjoyed the reactions and it made you want to re watch them that’s soo cool to hear!! Hopefully hear from you in the next reaction video!
Ok but can we talk about how badass Haymitch is. Like he won the 50th quarter quell where they double the tributes, so instead of 24 there were 48 tributes. Like damn my man was killing it, Literally.
Rico, I've really been enjoying your channel the last few days. I've been watching your Harry Potter videos, and just started with your Hunger Games videos today. Greetings from Ohio, USA!
Thank you Alvaro, I really appreciate how much this movie is actually bringing me closer to you guys and building such a strong community, this movie has been nothing but a wonderful experience I’m getting to watch a really great movie but also I’m getting to make some awesome kind hearted people I’m very blessed!
So you were confused by the woman who they called "Morphling" who saved Peeta from the monkey... so we don't actually know her name, but basically she was a past victor from one of the districts (can't remember which one) and after her trauma of the games became addicted to an extremely strong pain killer in the hunger games universe called morphling. It's seriously potent stuff, very similar to the morphine we have in real life. (When Gale was whipped at the beginning of the movie and Prim put a shot in his back- that was morphling). So this tribute who they call Morphling after her addiction had camouflaged herself in the trees but popped out to block the monkey from reaching Peeta. She was already extremely thin and weak from her addiction, so the monkey's teeth/claws mauled her pretty easily. They carried her out to the ocean, and she died in Peeta's arms.
I'm a little late to this reaction, but you are the first reactor to I've watched that understood what was going on when she made the effigy of Seneca Crane. For that you got my subscription.
I think a large part of the confusion around Katniss's actions toward Peeta is because she is confused about her feelings towards Peeta. In the books it's much more clear that she very much sees Peeta as a genuinely kind, good soul that somehow hasn't been corrupted by the shitty world yet. Above all else, Peeta manages to stay kind, and even call others to their better selves. Katniss has such a deep instinct to protect that rare instance of goodness, because his death would be the death of kindness--another symbolic death just like Rue. Katniss is so focused on survival that romantic love isn't very accessible to her--it's still something she has to put on for the camera--but there is definitely a *type* of love she feels for Peeta, and despite it not being the type of love that will captivate the people of the Capitol, it's still very deep and very genuine.
I was watching the last video and go figures, I started balling my eyes out over that Rue scene. The scene in District 11 in the first movie is just so powerful and, judging by how her mother stands alone in this one with her children, you know that her father was killed for going after the peacekeepers. And then watching her mother's heart break as Katniss offers her sympathies, UGHHH!!!
Ahah Kingdom it’s okay your reaction is my reaction it genuinely is such a hard scene to watch, with rue and I think that it’s all soo well written and directed I can even begin to imagine what the books are like, we all know majority of the time they’re better, I’m glad you’re enjoying the reactions tho and thank you for engaging and commenting on the post makes me feel closer to you guys!
Thank you Donna, I'm glad you're enjoying the reactions, and I'm glad you're on this journey with me, welcome to the family hopefully even after these movies we'll find another movie/Tv show to watch!
THE CLAW ! :) Yes it is really awkward, but it just shows you how uncomfortable Katniss is with loving a boy be it Peeta or Gale she is not comfortable with either of them showing her love. I think this changes when Peeta did the tribute to Rue and the fact that he says he will always be there when she has her nightmares, she starts to trust him more. Finally when he gives her the gift (pictures) the kiss that follows that scene is different from all the other I think she is more hungry (if that makes sense) for his love. Cool reaction Dude!
Hey Luna !! Thank you as always you're soo supportive and one of the original members of this community so your opinion means allot to me, thank you!! glad you enjoyed it!
You’re the best reactor I’ve seen. A lot of the others skip past the bits that I care the most about and it bugs me. And you really care about the characters!
Thank you Holly that really means allot, I’m glad you’re enjoying the reactions and I hope you’ll join me for the rest and other movies to come, also it’s soo well written the movies it’s hard not to find myself invested in what’s happening!
I just found your channel and your reactions are great! Most reactors I find focus too much on the action/comedy in a story or talk over important moments, but you seem to be really analyzing everything, getting the point and feeling something. Love it!
Hey kaysha, just want to say thank you very much for you comment, and thank you for taking the time out to even say that it really means allot, I’m glad you’re enjoying the reactions and welcome officially to family !!!
This movieeeeee wooow, Man guys there were Sooo many twists at the end that I just did not see coming, things are going to change going forward I can’t wait, also I’m not above apologising if/when I’m wrong in regards to my assumptions about Peeta ( Can we get a Like on this comment for the MVP of this movie “Peeta” please - 1 like = Justice for him )
The rest is gonna be quite the ride my guy. Buckle up
Rico Presents u gotta read all the books you’ll understand better
Luv u dude ❤️
You sound like you have a british accent not being mean or anything just wanted to say it
@@lovelynpanado3018 lmao wtf that's because he IS British... like... it's pretty obvious.. lmfaooo
Cinna was raised in the districts. He came to the capitol later.
You know what Kim, I’ll actually use that going forward it’s soo simple but it’s actually quite true lol
This. In the first movie one of the few points she really shows genuine emotion and concern towards Peeta is when he almost eats the berries, and you can tell.
Kim Carragher you’re not talking about Jennifer Lawrence right ? Just the character of Katniss herself?
shafiq AMIN obviously, hence the reference to the games. No need to get defensive over nothing
I think that’s the amazing thing also about Jennifer Lawrence as she can be acting and appear to be a bad actor
Here's a fun fact they didn't show in the movies : The games Haymitch won was the 2nd Quarter Quell (50th year) where they had 4 tributes per district, i.e. 48 participants.
Thats actually mental and explains allot for why Haymitch is well haymitch lol
@@RicoPresents another fun fact haymitch is also like that because after he won president snow killed his girlfriend and family
Another fun fact: for the first Quarter Quell (25th year) the male and female tributes had to be VOTED on by their districts. Big yikes.
@@jorbador1484
Not just by their own districts. All of Panems Districts were allowed to vote on any District's tribute.
Iirc most district's tributes that year were highly wanted criminals or peacekeepers.
"Look at this, they're holding hands. I want them dead" Me every valentine's day!
ahaha okay well played Ray that made me laugh lol
you are as original as a Raid Shadow legends add
Its been a year tho hhahaha
Hahahahahahaha
Mags, the older lady, volunteered for Annie Cresta (Finnick's love).
"they're holding hands, I want them dead"
President Snow is such a cheerful dude eh?
i love his voice when he says "they're holding hands", as if he is happy. xDD and then it just drops. xD
Peeta is a different species . Love that man
I love Peeta too!
when i read the 3 books in the past i thought he was really sweet , kinda like the protsgonist of The name of the wind
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Say it louder for the ones in the back.
I'm looking at you Stephanie Meyer 👀
yeah.. because peeta was the one playing the role that most women play in literature and movies. peeta as a character is for katniss and in this case he is the ideal man but he is also the one being abused and heart broken.
But yeah... I cannot fucking WAIT until you react to Mockingjay Part 1... Honestly such a great movie too....
He lost his leg in the book, in the movie they didn't do that. Sort of glad they changed that, poor guy already goes through enough hell X.x
Rico Presents also the bomb from the first movie destroyed katnis hearing permanently so she too had to get that replaced like peetas leg
It also shows how governments treat their people . Protesting and rioting. It's real
It is a study on war.
They never leave the games...just new games being played...
i didnt get far through the book but i vividly remember the girl who had her tongue cut out serving food the films censored themselfs abit it seems
Yep, no one wins the hunger games, there are just survivors. They never are allowed to live the happy life they want afterwards
You have to imagine, Haymitch watching two young people from his district dying for 23 years in a row - explains his drinking problem and why he was such an ass in the first movie - he is just done with the world not having been able to help the kids year after year.
It’s allot to deal with Franziska you’re right couldn’t even begin to imagine how he must feel such a strong character!!
To be fair the drinking problem started after Snow had Haymitch's entire family and loved ones killed
@@averiglaze7313 And that is exactly why he did what he did in the MockingJay. "It's the things we love most that destroy us"
I don’t know if someone else has told you this but the main reason why the arena was water at the start was sort of a message to Katniss: this world is no place for a girl on fire.
@@creativekismet oh okay, thanks! It's been a long time since I read the books 🙂
@@creativekismet But the Capitolio didn't know (:
LOOOOVE that you didn't want to talk as much because you wanted to pay attention. That way you can catch the special moments.
@@RicoPresents the latest hunger games book is A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and tells Snow's story as a teen and his rise to power.
@@agenttheater5 He's actually the father of fellow actor Kiefer Sutherland (Lost Boys, Flatliners, and many others).
And yes Peeta is amazing 😊
Get ready for Part 1
Cinna: Makes dress
Snow: So you have chosen death.
Edit: I know I didn’t make this so don’t give me any credit just want to share the laugh!!!
@@frozenpiper2 she didn't explain why, but it was pretty obvious what she meant. she says it in the movies too, actually
@@bella-je5yc I thought it was at least hinted at but it's been so long since I've read the books or seen the movies.
@@bella-je5yc she does explain why in the books. Multiple times.
And also provided it's "peace keepers"
That moment when she says that is so deeply disturbing.
I didn't even watched the video yet, and I know its going to be one hell of a ride.
"Look at him just eating biscuits" no idea why I found that so funny.😂😂
Another very important thing that they kind of gloss over in the movies is that each District provides a different thing to the country of Panem, and thats why the tributes have such different skillsets.
Johanna is form District 7 not 8
@@lusinebaghyan8864 my bad.
You think this one is dark and deep? The next 2 are even more so. Be warned... there will be many emotions
Did you know that mags won the eleventh hungergames . It was so early.
I didn’t but I do now ahah thanks for that Robin!
Fun fact Peeta actually lost his leg at the end of the last movie in the books
"This guy is on some different stuff!" LOL JUST WAIIITTT!! loving the videos!! thank you for helping me through quarantine
Finnick is really my favorite character and it's not because he's cute lol 😂😂😂😂❤️
Ahah this actually made me spit out my drink laughing lol nice one Jaquana !
Man i love Haymitch and Finnick!
I cannot wait for the 3rd and last one!!!
Gabi me too after this one im suppperrrr excited to see the next, its literally such a good series and its even better that I get to experience it with you guys for the first time!!
Rico Presents I read the series right when it came out and I was so blown away back then it’s amazing to see that even now people like it that much!
no I honestly loved your reactions its very lovely to see someone liking and getting emotional to something you love and actually trying to understand it. love your reaction can't wait for moreee
@@RicoPresents very much appreciated ! I very much recommend the books they are amazing too
"Be careful there's a forcefield up there."
Funniest line in the series
Every time I see JLaw as Katniss, my mind is thoroughly blown all over again. She was born for that role. Period.
Plus, Peta would forgive you!
@@RicoPresents eagerly waiting for the next installment! 😊
And it is "Peeta" not "Peta".
My bad!
Remember Peeta's favorite color is 🍊...
Favorite character, Peeta.
MVP, Mags
Least favorite character, of course, President Snow.
NVP, all the "career pack"! 😉
RIP Mags! 🥺
you're sooo wholesome, i loved this reaction. it is indeed one hell of a ride but the movies are only half of what the books are. the story is so much deeper than what they show.
Your comment about Mags going out the way she went in was very apt. I liked the fact that she was able to have that dignity.
Honestly I don’t think I could of handled her going out any other way, soo I’m glad they really did express it like that!
That last look out of her is ‘you are going to die screaming’
This is my favourite out of the 4 movies but don’t let this make you think I don’t like the 3rd and 4th movie they’re great too
I really did enjoy this Movie and I see why it could be your favourite, I'm excited to see the others and im really happy I got to watch this series with you guys you've all be soon supportive and explained things I would have missed !!
Rico Presents yeah and you may of missed when Finan was talking about exposing president snow’s secrets, he then said how he liked to poison them and you could see the blisters on his lips from when he pretended to drink the poison
After you finished the last 2 movies I recommend you watch the Maze Runner Trilogy (hoping you haven’t seen them before), they’re really great movies I’m sure others would agree
The way Caesar doesn't let their love story die is like how the current day media keeps the news cycle alive unnecessarily.
The mockingjay movies are so underrated
Take care !
You felt every emotion the director wanted you to feel, i love your reaction!! Cant wait to see more ^_^
Thank you SF, the movie is very well written and it really makes me want to go and read the books, I know there's allot of information that they just can't put in a movie so I think at some point I'm going to find and get me a copy, but it was brilliant some scenes in this movie really just make me think even after the movie is done, how much is linked to real life, and most movies don't do that they end when the movie does so for that reason alone its up there with one of my favourites!
What I LOVE about your reaction; all the emotions, thoughts, even confusions, is like watching them for the very first time... kudos for that
.
Hey man, emotions are okay. I cry about rue all the time. Justice for rue
Hey Joyce, you know what I'm learning with this movie series its very hard to hold them back, they are well written and I will from this point forwards always join you in the feeling of Justice for Rue!!
@@RicoPresents o for sure. If you like reading, I recommend the books when you're finished with the movies. I really enjoy your channel, new sub.
Thank you for bringing back my hunger games nostalgia lmao I used to be obsessed with this series
The crushed defeated look on Katniss' face was truly because she knew Peeta was going back into the arena with every intention of dying to save her.
ur so nice 🥺. i just love ur vibe, and not to mention you’re watching some of my favorite movies! can’t wait for the next one ❤️❤️❤️
FUN FACT: In the book Gale got wiped because he brought a Turkey from the woods also Katniss got drunk
Yes sir! I've been waiting for this! Can't wait to watch this video and seeing you react to the rest of the series!
Love Moose thank you for that, I hope you enjoy it honestly and Im really ready for the next ones because honestly Im supper enjoying this series atm so I can't wait for the rest too lol!!
My favorite of the movies! Also Joanna is ma absolute favorite character so I’m gonna tell a fun fact about her😁💖
When they were filming the elevator stripping scene in Atlanta Hotel (while it was in use) a total stranger (a customer of the hotel) just walked in mid-scene!
Maysilee Donner is also Katniss's Mother's Best Friend so giving the Mockingjay Pin to Katniss is like a accidental Symbolic thing.
your reactions are so insightful and I love how you think about the themes and metaphors like !!! Can't wait to watch your other reacts!
Thank you Saydi, I love that you love it lol and I’m glad you’ll be watching more and others I appreciate you very much, thank you for taking the time to comment I appreciate it sooo much! Welcome to the family!
you have a unique style and all your videos are awsome you will be big
It makes sense that Finnick, who comes from the *fishing district,* would know how to do CPR because drowning is very probably a pretty common occurrence where he's from.
oh my gosh, i CANNOT wait for you to react to both mockingjay movies! your in for one hell of a ride! love your reaction btw!

ahaha what a time to be alive I love it and love the energy I hope you enjoy!!
Ok but can we talk about how badass Haymitch is. Like he won the 50th quarter quell where they double the tributes, so instead of 24 there were 48 tributes. Like damn my man was killing it, Literally.

This was amazing to watch! I’ve started watching your videos and btw there AWESOME!!! You’ll love the last 2
Thank you Donna, I'm glad you're enjoying the reactions, and I'm glad you're on this journey with me, welcome to the family hopefully even after these movies we'll find another movie/Tv show to watch!
THE CLAW ! :)
Yes it is really awkward, but it just shows you how uncomfortable Katniss is with loving a boy be it Peeta or Gale she is not comfortable with either of them showing her love.
OMG I loved this Rico!!
Finnick is the best character hands down!!
I would say Peeta and Finnick are the best characters,...and then Katniss. 😉
