You literally have some many tips and little tricks that are awesome! Using bands to connect the worbla instead of sandwiching is the most brilliant thing I've ever seen. Thank you for recording this!
Man, it is insane how hard you work and how authentic you make your costumes. You always look great and your sewing 101 series really helped me when I started (trying, sometimes successfully) dressing up for conventions. Just wanted to say that this version of hawkgirl was put into a documentary called, "She Makes Comics" that is on Netflix at 18:32. Definitely surprised me seeing your smiling face, but thought I'd want to know. Thanks for all of your tutorials, -Mel

i have been scouring the web for a good worbla tutorial and i just wanna say this is the best one ive found helped me out a bunch thanx for sharing, ps love the pumpkin molding
Hi there. I'm considering for a new costume to try and make some worbla monster hunter armor but I have zero experience whatsoever with the stuff! I saw on cosplaysupplies.com that I could buy 10 jumbo sheets for less than 1 jumbo sheet. Would you recommend doing so given that I am new to worbla (prone to make mistakes) and would need more to make such a suit?
Sorry if this is a silly question, but to stick the breast plates to the rest of the armour did you just use the heating process again or is there some glue involved? Thanks :D x
Hi i love your video!! but i'm from Brazil and a few words i dont understand. Can you write for me a the list of materials . This way i can found the similar here. Thank you very much and congrats for your work!
those would be tin snips, also known as aviation cutters (don't ask me why) designed for cutting steel plate up to 1,5 mm thick (depending on the specific metal and how strong you can clench it) it makes short work of plastics and cardboard.
I don't know if anyone mentioned this about the tin snips but they come in three styles: Left cutting, right cutting and center (or straight) cutting. Red,yellow and green.I forget which color goes with which direction. The different styles allow for cutting curves in the respective direction with less distortion of the material.
I'm making the mechanical arm for big boss, but I am totally new for Worbla. With the velcro headband you made, it looks like it could break or crack if you pull it too hard. How strong and sturdy is it once you're done shaping and heating?
On the tin snips...there are left, right, and center cutting styles. Looks like you have center cuts there which is good. You wouldn't want left cutters to cut a round hole from the right.
I want to make breastplate armor for a certain cosplay, but I'm pretty much flat-chested. Do you have any advice on shaping breastplates for someone who is flat-chested, but still be accurate to the character?
The other similar product is shapelock granules, which are slightly better for shaping less planar elements like studs. I haven't tried the two together, though.
I just want to thank you so much for the tutorials on how to work with worbla! now myy only problem is where to find foam! it's kinda hard in my place to find it :( but again thank you!
Yes. But I used foam in stone places because I didn't have enough worbla. It was enough for Ali the big pieces just moor Ali little details I wanted to add but crafty foam worked fine.
Hey, I'll be starting my Sylvanas Windrunner Cosplay soon and it'll be my first time using Worbla....so I wondered if the XL sheet was enough for your armor? Also awesome tutorial! So easy to understand what you are doing
I used about a sheet and a half for all my armor. So if your costume has more or less armor than my hawk girl you should be able to judge how much you need
I've come back to this video so many times during the building process for Hades. So much great information! Currently trying to figure out attaching bits together and to the body. How did you get the pattern for your shoulder attachment piece? Thanks for all your great videos!
Ive started watching cosplay builds just because the patterning and materials are cool to watch get formed. Is the worbla flexible or does it get stiffer after heating?
I'm not sure how it would work but I think it would be pretty cool if you could make a robot limb with worbla. Like I said, I don't know how it would work but you live and you learn, right?
That's a very nice way to cover the foam piece. Saves you a lot of worbla if the armor doesn't need to be very strong/stiff like KamuiCosplay does it. Because there you need two pieces of worbla instead of one. And you gotta add edging anyways :P Edging makes everything betaaahhh ;3
Great tutorial! And those special clippers are used for many different things- my jewelery instructor back in high school had us use them to cut bulky shapes from sheets of copper, nickel, silver, etc. But where to get them in a town that has like one Walmart for the next five hours in any direction...is a mystery to me lol
In most worbla tutorials I've seen, people fold the sheet over, meaning you only get half of the actual sheet... Did you do that as well or did the foam allow you to skip that step or is it completely unnecessary?
I found this article that has some pretty good details on the differences between them. Looks like the difference is Worbla is more flexible, but Wonderflex is sturdier. Also, Worbla is more expensive. ohmycosplay.com/2013/11/03/craft-foam-vs-wonderflex-vs-worbla/
Yea I think I'm going to use both i heard worbla could only stick to one side when i need both sides covered Once i get a job ill try both i guess its personal preference.
shadowsong12345 Worbla has two sides, a rough one and a smooth one. The smooth one gets really sticky quite easily, which is what you need, if you want to put it onto other things than worbla, like craftfoam for example. But worbla itself sticks to itself from both sides. If you heat up a piece of worbla and press it down to another piece of worbla, even the rough side will work. If done with enough heat and enough pressure, its as secure as a normal plate of worbla, which also means you can't pull both pieces away without doing a little damage. The best example for Worblas ability to stick to itself is, that you can knead worbla, when its hot. You can basically roll it up and make little sausages out of it, if you want to. Thats why keeping scratches is reasonable, because you can use it to make details for your armor and weapons out of it.
Okay so please don't think I'm a complete idiot but I made my deadric armor with craft foam and the helmet turned out okay but the chest plate looks like shit...both times I made it. This is the first time I've ever heard about worbla like ever lol is it better to use it?
You literally have some many tips and little tricks that are awesome! Using bands to connect the worbla instead of sandwiching is the most brilliant thing I've ever seen. Thank you for recording this!
I'm LOVING your tutorials! Preparing to use worbla for the first time for my Winter Soldier cosplay and you've saved me! THANK YOU!

Hi can I use a blow dryer to heat the material ?
Dem shears, they're Garden shears! I loves them!!!
What is worbla sheet, and how much does it cost? What other alternative material can I use ? Thank you
Im going to do a vegeta and i dont know if a XL sheet of worbla is enough for it, i am 5''1 and im ~120 pounds. Thanks (im new in cosplay)
Hi there. I'm considering for a new costume to try and make some worbla monster hunter armor but I have zero experience whatsoever with the stuff! my worbla seems to be really stiff compared to yours, i got tin snips but it is still hard to cut through- any ideas?
I guess I do not understand how you make the parts on you arm? Do I just find something thats the size of my arm to mold on?
would using craft foam work as well? if you can't afford worbla :D
Thanks and Congrats for your honest and espontaneous personality jejeje
Sorry if this is a silly question, but to stick the breast plates to the rest of the armour did you just use the heating process again or is there some glue involved? Thanks :D x
Hi i love your video!! but i'm from Brazil and a few words i dont understand. Can you write for me a the list of materials . This way i can found the similar here. Thank you very much and congrats for your work!
Glad you liked it! The materials are listed in the description
how did you do the hawk logo with the worbla?
those would be tin snips, also known as aviation cutters (don't ask me why)
designed for cutting steel plate up to 1,5 mm thick (depending on the specific metal and how strong you can clench it)
it makes short work of plastics and cardboard.

Worbla is very very strong.
Thanks so much! I love your videos btw, you're super helpful and funny :D
how long it takes?
On the tin snips...there are left, right, and center cutting styles. Looks like you have center cuts there which is good. You wouldn't want left cutters to cut a round hole from the right.
I want to make breastplate armor for a certain cosplay, but I'm pretty much flat-chested. Do you have any advice on shaping breastplates for someone who is flat-chested, but still be accurate to the character?
amazing tutorial i also noticed you have 2ne1 - happy playing in the back ground i loveeee love love it :D hehehe
Hey there, great video! How rigid does the Worbla get? Is it brittle or does it bend a bit? Does it end up rubbery? Thanks :)
The final product is pretty much sturdy. It flexes somewhat but is not britle or rubbery
lol tinsnips! you my dear are a genius!
The other similar product is shapelock granules, which are slightly better for shaping less planar elements like studs. I haven't tried the two together, though.
I have a question about the shoulder pieces, how do you attach them to your shoulders?
+Cassidy Zhuang the one shoulder piece attached to the strap on my breast plate that went over my shoulders
I just want to thank you so much for the tutorials on how to work with worbla! now myy only problem is where to find foam! it's kinda hard in my place to find it :( but again thank you!
I might be overlooking it, but did you make a video about making the headpiece?
no. its all lumped together in this video
i know you said you only bought one sheet so was that enough for your entire armor?
Yes. But I used foam in stone places because I didn't have enough worbla. It was enough for Ali the big pieces just moor Ali little details I wanted to add but crafty foam worked fine.
can you substitute worbla
Hey, I'll be starting my Sylvanas Windrunner Cosplay soon and it'll be my first time using Worbla....so I wondered if the XL sheet was enough for your armor? Also awesome tutorial! So easy to understand what you are doing
I used about a sheet and a half for all my armor. So if your costume has more or less armor than my hawk girl you should be able to judge how much you need
Thank you so much for the fast response, I think I'll get an idea now ^^
Is that foam on the inside? You lined it with foam? :o
ok so does the worbla just stick right to the foam? without anything like glue?
+Angel Drummer no the worbla doesn't stick to the foam. The edging pieces hold the two together
ok thx you!
I've come back to this video so many times during the building process for Hades. So much great information!
Currently trying to figure out attaching bits together and to the body. How did you get the pattern for your shoulder attachment piece?
Thanks for all your great videos!
I just wing it. I know that sounds bad but most of the time I just try something and then if it fails try another
Ive started watching cosplay builds just because the patterning and materials are cool to watch get formed.
Is the worbla flexible or does it get stiffer after heating?
It stiffens up after it cools
Awesome! That's pure total awesomeness. :)
awesome where's the finished hawkgirl cosplay
This is amazing!

In most worbla tutorials I've seen, people fold the sheet over, meaning you only get half of the actual sheet...
Did you do that as well or did the foam allow you to skip that step or is it completely unnecessary?
+Kait Merciless the foam makes that step unnecessary. such a waste of worbla that way :\
Those are aviation snips - used for cutting light gauge metals, they come in; left handed, right handed and straight.
I wonder if this could work for samaus's armor from metroid you know like the chest plate and stuff I know this would work for the shoulder
Other person said it, tin snips. They can be used to cut heavier gauge, soft metals.
The shears are "Aviation shears" meant for cutting sheet metal. They're awesome for almost everything!
what did u use to heat up that foam?
It's a heat gun but you can use anything but it might take longer
Hiii will the heat gun work on cardboard ?
Why would you need to heat up cardboard?
Ohhh cuz worbla is really rare i found but it was 3000 pesos . Sooo My mom told me to find alternatives
Craft foam will work better than cardboard. And it will mold slightly with heat from a heatgun. But it will Melt if you get it too hot
Awesome tutorial, helped a lot, I will be using your methods and see how it works for me, thank you ^~^
i heard 2ne1's happy omg
enjoyed every second of this video. you rock girl! you're so funny! :3
I think they are tin snips. For cutting metal
Good tutorial but whats the difference between this and wonderflex?
I found this article that has some pretty good details on the differences between them. Looks like the difference is Worbla is more flexible, but Wonderflex is sturdier. Also, Worbla is more expensive. ohmycosplay.com/2013/11/03/craft-foam-vs-wonderflex-vs-worbla/

I prefer worbla over wonderflex, just because it can stick to itself easily. Wonderflex doesn't do that. :)
Yea I think I'm going to use both i heard worbla could only stick to one side when i need both sides covered Once i get a job ill try both i guess its personal preference.

omg i really love your character xDD holy I cant stop giggling
Great video, not very detailed tutorial but very entertaining without making me want to slap anyone, like many other videos do.

Worbla molds a lot easier than foam and is a lot stronger. You can do a lot more with it
Working with the foam is it easier to use a heat gun too?
Yeah foam will mold a little with the help of heat.
omg u crack me up lol thx for the tutorial
In t he video you are using tin snips and they are for cutting tin and thin gauge metal. :)
You are amazeballs!!!
they are called Tin snips you can cut just about anything with them
Love you! Thank uso much, i'll sub! :)
I love you soooo much !
Hahaha. You're so funny! Love your videos ^_^
