    I wish you guys were around when i was young. It was heartbreaking for me when my mom kept me from my dad and his family, even though i was totally bonded with my grandma. I cried for her in secret so many nights into a pillow. Shame on those parents why deny their children the love and goodness of an extended family, for any reason. Your grandkids need you. I know i needed and loved and missed my grandma so much. Whenever we finally were reunited I savored every precious second i had with her. As soon as i was able to drive i spent many a weekend, school break and holiday with her! She passed away a few years ago and i miss her so much. Her grace and goodness warmed me like sunlight on a cold day. Don't give up. your grandkids are waiting for your goodness and light to warm their cold days too. 💕☀️🌤️🧑‍🍼❤️‍🩹🌼💙🙏

      @@elawilliam4777 thank you for your kind words. My mom decided taking me away from my grandma was a good idea because my grandma love me too much and spoiled me, according to my mom. Grandma just got me it was like we were soulmates I just loved her so much more than any other relative. If reincarnation was a real thing, i would find her spirit and tell her to wait for me so we can come back in the next life as twins so we can spend our whole life together.👯‍♀️👬

    I have a daughter-in-law that has divided my son and grandson from us. He's influenced by her because she (and her influential parents would help) would take the grandson away and make life miserable for my son. I have two wonderful grands whose mama is my husband's daughter (we are very close) but the missing grandson is my only biological grand child.

    I couldn't believe how your alienation is almost exactly what I have gone through for over 12 years. My son's older kids we able to stay in touch because of my ex Step daughter but he also has twins that were 2 when his new wife decided to keep them away from the entire family. I have been through and felt these exact emotions. I miss my twin grands and miss them terribly for the past 12 years. I too had to stop mailing cards because they were coming back to me. Thank you for validating what some of us are enduring!

      There are so many parents whose situation is much the same. It sometimes seems that the estranged child is using the same instruction manual as countless others. I'm glad you found some comfort in knowing that you're not alone. I'm very sorry that you're going through this heartbreaking situation. There are 2 other videos available from parents that you might be interested in watching. Subscribe to Families Divided TV and you will be notified when the next parent panel is released this summer. There are many videos from professionals on the channel as well that may help.

    Now my granddaughter has estranged herself from us and my daughter. We don't even know why. It's heartbreaking. My son only speaks to us if I make first contact. Unfortunately, I do know why.

      Sadly estrangement and alienation does sometimes carry on to future generations. Too bad these estranging adult children are unable to see what their own future may hold. They might choose differently if they could.

      @@USAEast I think you may be correct. There is little room for imperfection on the part of the parent. I'm sure these young people are themselves imperfect but they are incapable of seeing their own imperfections because they spend their time focusing on the imperfections of the parent. It will be a sad day for them when they are seen as the "toxic" one by their own children and end up walking the same path they have forced us to walk.

    It’s been too many years for myself and two daughters. 10, and eight years. Even if there was a reconciliation, I would be a nervous wreck, trying not to say or do the wrong thing. Our bond has been broken. I don’t even know how to pray for them anymore. And I wonder if this is going to happen to them. Are my six grandchildren going to do it to my daughters? After all, my daughters showed them by example.

    I got a message in an email that U replied to my comment, However I can't find that reply on the page so I will reply as a new comment. U said "Ela Williamnice parents have adult children who talk to them. Dangerous parents don’t." My reply to U .... How do you explain then that in many families where there are multiple children, only one is estranged/alienated while the others remain close to the parents? I know that is the case in my family, I have another child who speaks to us regularly and allows us a lot of time with our grandchild, including unsupervised time. Until people like you begin to realize that this is a trend among young adults and not the fault of the parent this will continue to be a heartbreaking issue in many families. Parents aren't perfect and they shouldn't have to be perfect to be loved and included. When the young people who now think it's okay to ghost their parents become the victims of ghosting by their own children then they may start to understand. By then it will too late to fix things with their own parents and demonstrate forgiveness, love and inclusion to their own children.

    So what do you do when the rest of the family “enables” the alienator so that you are left out of holiday and birthday celebrations because they don’t want to upset the alienator? I hope this makes sense.

    • @FamiliesDividedTV
      @FamiliesDividedTV  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It makes perfect sense. Many of us in this situation deal with this as well. I am not an expert. Just an alienated mom and grandmom. I do know our experts say to take care of you first. You really can not change these family members. I pray it gets better for you.

    • @elawilliam4777
      @elawilliam4777 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sadly there doesn't seem to be much we can do. Some people are in it for themselves and aren't concerned how their choices affect the alienated parent/grandparent. As long as they aren't cut off they're fine with the situation as it is. Embrace your friends, old and new and spend "family" time with them. Life can still good, different but good just the same.
