My betta fish had a light colored tumor on the side of his head. After consulting with some of my fishy friends, I learned that metallic scaled bettas (samurai, dragonscale, etc) and marble colored bettas (koi, galaxy, etc) have a high tendency to have tumors. The same gene that mutates scale color also easily mutates into a tumor, basically. The bad news is that, as you mentioned in your video, there's not much you can do except wait and see how they do. The good news is that a betta can often live a happy, comfortable life even with a tumor. Unfortunately, since my betta's tumor was on his gill covering, he did not live long once the tumor got rather large. But he did live a few months from the first time that the area started to look abnormal.

I got my first betta about 3 months ago. He has been keeping only one side towards me when he comes up to greet me. I now see a small bump below his eye on the other side that is the same color as the rest of his head. It seems to be taking over the eye which makes me think he can't see out of that eye. There is another smaller one on the gill covering. They must be tumors. I don't think I will ever get another betta.

Very timely information indeed. I'm currently watching the fins on my betta get shorter by the day. I have not tested the water because I ASSuMEd it was fine. It's a 14g cube with no tank mates and weekly water changes/gravel vacs/glass wall scrubbing. There should be virtually no nitrates or stress in there other than it's new to him after being moved out of a 2.5 gallon cookie jar filled with pothos roots. I'll pull him out and put him in something substantially smaller to treat the fin rot and see if that helps. Thanks!!!

This caused another delay in treatment cause I couldn't get to the store to buy something else! Can't be sulfur based dechlorinator, I ended up getting API stress coat

My short fin male recently died. I only had him for four months and I kept shrimp with them. There was no problem with either. The tank was completely clean and the betta fish was doing fine. I noticed some fin rott but after changing the food everything was fine. Recently, I noticed that he would be more and more lazy, but continue to eat. Eventually, he was just laying on the bottom of the tank. He died a few days after doing this. I'm not sure if it was old age or not, but I want to think that it died naturally. I have shirmp in there with it and they are much more fragile and they did fine.

i've had a betta fish with negative buoyancy swim bladder disease which makes him always stay on the ground of the aquarium, so he always struggled to swim to the top to catch some air bubbles. i reduced the water level into just 5-7 cm so it really made him easier to eat pellets and catch air bubbles. it's sad to know that there aren't really effective medicine to swim bladder disease, u just can slow the pain or make him feel better but it can't go away. for foods, try to feed him a small boiled peas. maybe he had an internal digesting problem

my betta has had a swollen stomach for weeks, with it extra protruding out her right side and at first we thought she was bloated from eating too much but when it didn't go away and there started the be white stuff sticking out of her right gils (almost looking like a little worm at times, or whiteish yellow stringy thing) and eventually falling off and more coming out, we got worried that was an infection or parasites. I've done a ton of research but can't seem to decipher which is the problem. What do you think?
We have another betta fish separated in the tank that is unaffected, and they have both been together for almost a year without problems.

I’ve had two betta fish die from bloat it’s extremely frustrating. They were both (at separate times) in a very very nice planted 10 gallon with a couple endlers and an aqua clear 20 (set to the lowest setting) and it was my favorite tank and I maintained it the most. Still no clue why it happened, I think it might have been some bacterial something, but I’ve gotten frustrated and given up on that tank I’m taking it down this week.

His upper portion of his tail just fell off and then he swelled up like a balloon on his right side and his eyes are bulging out. Very lethargic until food is around. I did a big water change and that's when all of the stuff started happening. He does not like water changes never has. I think I have to euthanize. This has been a week now. Tried healing he seems to be getting worse. Sad watching him struggle. How much clovento euthanize?

Can somebody help I have a 40 gallon community tank and a white fungus is spreading rapidly around all the fish. I have already lost a few fish and dont know what to do as I dont know the name if the fungus disease to do research on it. I asked the staff at my local fish store but none of them had ever see it before so I decided to treat the tank for fungus infections. If anyone know what it could be called then please let me know. The best way I can describe it is a fungus ich (its not spots it more like white candyfloss coming off the fish)

@@curgunner It doesnt really look like that though If you search up the aquarium co-op how to treat ich video there is a picture of a cory at 1:20 that say its not ich but its the same as what my fish have. That might help you figure it out

@@shmuch7096 have you tried the recommended fungus treatments already? Because assuming it’s a fungus the treatments are all relatively similar. I would also post to reddit and ask there since then people can actually see a picture of what it is. Hard to say just based on a verbal description.

Nice video, but why target it only towards Betta? None of these apply only to them.

Many beginners have a betta. Also they have large fins.

@@Yonatan24 sure, but that doesn't change the fact that other fish are equally susceptible. The title should at least contain (and all other fish). It's just a minor point though!

Great info, what would make a Beta loose most of the color on the body, fins are still bright, but body is now white. no spots and is swimming and acting normally.

Be careful with heavy water changes when your fish is sick. It can lead them to be more stressed

Please youtube, stop putting this person in front of me. They could tell me how to resurrect fish from the dead and I'm not watching the video. I am not buying what is being sold here. There are lots of people who know about fish and can speak on a video.
