If you are still having this issue I just fixed mine. I removed the hdd from the xbox and hooked it up to my pc. Accessed the system update 1 partition and deleted all the files and reinstalled the hdd. Then took a flash drive (any drive over 8gb will work) and formatted that to NTFS and extracted OSU1 to it and inserted it into the USB port on the xbox. Booting the xbox by holding for 15 seconds, the bind button on the side and the eject button and pressing the power button. The console then fully went through with the system update. Afterwards i just had to redo the initial setup but all my games and saves were still there. Hope this helps someone else.

Great video Steve as always. One thing which might point you to the issue is either checking the log files on a computer or you can look at the percentage of the update. I had an Xbox One S stored because of error E106 and that error means that the update you are trying to install its older than the one on the NAND, that means the console you couldn't repair its on Insider Program (Mine was in Alpha Skip Ahead and took me like 3-4 months to finally have a higher version than the one in the NAND}. You can try again after the next update, also Microsoft upload the Offline Update files like a week after the update comes out. I got rid of the E100 error by formatting the HDD with HDD Low Level Format Tool and letting the console partition and format the drive by itself while offline updating.
when getting a E100 error check the update file logs on the console HDD at SystemSupport\oddfwupd\.log in there you can see what is wrong . also after you used donor drive pcb you getting different error , it changed from 80910008 to 80910017 error 80910008 is wrong optical drive connected
Very nice video. I have a question. I'm working on a portable PS4 Slim (like a big Nintendo Switch) and I just now realized something I should have checked waaaay earlier: Will a PS4 boot and run without a BD drive connected to the motherboard? Due to obvious reasons I can't fit a BD drive into a portable device. I've seen plenty of PS4 mods where they put the motherboard into a PC case, but I'm not sure as to what they did with the BD drive ATM. I think it should work, but I'd like to know for sure from an actual expert.
Is it advisable to pay the 2-year warranty of Geek Squad in Best Buy for Nintendo Switch?? Could someone tell about their experience repairing their Nintendo Switch??
I would like to see a 10 minute video of "broken" consoles you got from eBay that had nothing wrong with them, just one after another getting more awkward and thus funnier with each passing one. That'd be great.
The end of the code was a bit different, but I got rid of my E100 by replacing the hard drive ... Xbox One X. I had to connect the new hard drive to the PC, make necessary partitions and put the OS on it. Offline update via USB drive and it works again.
Awesome job man. Hey I’ve been having the same problem with my Xbox one x. I’ve tried everything you have tried maybe even more. I’ve tried 2 different good hdd’s and one ssd. I’ve even hooked them up to my computer and created the partitions needed. I’ve tried to run them with the offline system update and I’ve tried to run them having the system updates pre-installed on the hdd’s and ssd. I’m hoping you have found a fix for them.
Same problem with mine..The problem is the capacitors. Voltage to the harddrive was not 5v. Instead of replacing caps I just got a sata to usb cable and plug it into the rear usb port..Fixed
Microsoft should make that error code list with descriptions publicly available just to help and encourage the people's right to repair, it's really stupid they won't let us know that is even going on with the devices we bought
Kind of an enlightening video. Really hightlights what a gamble that kind of thing is. Like even if it was fixed the time money and effort put into swapping the HDMI chip puts you in the red.
@@Tronicsfix Im curious how long it actually took you on that project total and then to clean flux, remove and seat in that HDMI chip? Did USPS dragged it behind the vehicle???
I had an Xbox One S stored because of error E106 and that error means that the update you are trying to install its older than the one on the NAND, that means the console you couldn't repair its on Insider Program (Mine was in Alpha Skip Ahead and took me like 3-4 months to finally have a higher version than the one in the NAND}. You can try again after the next update, also Microsoft upload the Offline Update files like a week after the update comes out. I got rid of the E100 error by formatting the HDD with HDD Low Level Format Tool and letting the console partition and format the drive by itself while offline updating.
So the subcodes of the E100 error changed after you swapped the optical and chip. Any info on what the two different subcodes mean?
I love the fixing vids :)
Glad to hear it!
I don't get the effort of having circle heat pads. Why not rectangular that fits the chip properly?
Great video Steve 😁👏
Thanks 👍
when getting a E100 error check the update file logs on the console HDD at SystemSupport\oddfwupd\.log
in there you can see what is wrong .
also after you used donor drive pcb you getting different error , it changed from 80910008 to 80910017
error 80910008 is wrong optical drive connected
The only channel where you hear the words "Xbox one X is working fine" and "Boring" put together!
Awesome video as normal! Keep it up, loving the vids
Are there any dowsides to running console upside down , as it seems having the heatsink face up into the fan blower would be better..
Most underrated channel hope you get 1mil
I would like to see a 10 minute video of "broken" consoles you got from eBay that had nothing wrong with them, just one after another getting more awkward and thus funnier with each passing one.
That'd be great.
Always learn something from your videos, great job!
Glad to hear it!
When something arrives damaged even though its faulty can you not claim for that? It's like they are taking no care on purpose
Awesome vids man you gave me the courage to open my Xbox and clean it 😂😂I love the vids keep it up 👍
but when you replacemented between the two chips , how you confined the problem in this chips particularly
The end of the code was a bit different, but I got rid of my E100 by replacing the hard drive ... Xbox One X. I had to connect the new hard drive to the PC, make necessary partitions and put the OS on it. Offline update via USB drive and it works again.
I guess it wouldn't work when you torch the top off the chip for the optical drive. It went from being clean to having a hugh blister on it.
Can always use the shell for a fully working console and use the power button for the boot-up sound.
I don't think that's the original internals on that gears console because it doesn't have the specific startup shutdown sounds
Your videos are so interesting I love them
Glad you like them!
What product are you using when you change the chip. You put like a paste WHAT is that ?
I had a similar problem but fixed it by connecting the hd to a pc, then run the repair programme CHKDSK. Maybe worth a try?
Any idea what could be causing an xbox one x to keep ejecting the disc, making sounds like you hit the button, and turning on by itself?
Microsoft should make that error code list with descriptions publicly available just to help and encourage the people's right to repair, it's really stupid they won't let us know that is even going on with the devices we bought
Hello, I have a question about box one 1540. I need to replace my internal power supply. I can't find the internal power supply part.
You remind me of a default NPC, it’s cool!
How come we never see you do SMART tests on the hard drives? What if it was dropped and the drive has bad sectors?
Kind of an enlightening video. Really hightlights what a gamble that kind of thing is. Like even if it was fixed the time money and effort put into swapping the HDMI chip puts you in the red.
You're always taking a chance when buying broken stuff from eBay
@@Tronicsfix Im curious how long it actually took you on that project total and then to clean flux, remove and seat in that HDMI chip? Even for a professional its 3 or so hours worth of work. lets say your average pay is low like $65 an hour. an Xbox one X is like $300. Its tough to justify that. Love the channel, I was just thinking this video was a really good example of like "hey do this as a hobby, do not go all in and not expect to get rich repairing electronics.". I do repairs for CRTs and old gaming stuff and it was a hard lesson for me how costly the hobby can be.
It can be a difficult business. The best way to make money would be to start a repair business where you fix for other people BUT you have to be extremely good before you should start trying to fix other people's stuff. That being said you can make it work just by buying, fixing and reselling...it's just more difficult. If you learn how to repair one system and you can fix almost any problem and do it quickly you can make it work.
Have you ever had to fix a ps4 controller that can't look straight left or right bc I can't go left or right with my aim stick it either goes at an angle up or down
Love your videos man, you do an amazing job. I don't know if you will respond but which brand would you recommend on amazon for an xbox one x PSU replacement.
Oh I didn't know the Techs narrowed the married disc drive down to the Chip. I thought you always had to swap the whole board
heeeyyy bro tnx for making my quarentine better ❤️
My pleasure! Thanks for watching.
Are voltage surges from power outages a thing? I think my LAN port on my pc is fried.
This channel is therapeutic
Hey idk if this would help in this case, but I had another xbox that wouldn't turn on even after reinstalling the update, so what I did was reset the xbox and that fixed it
Bought an xbox replaced hardrive replaced the retimer and still no video hdmi looks good and turns on but no video o well. Your videos are awesome and shows not everything works out.
