My moms final gift to me was to get her affairs in order while she still had the mental capacity to do so. She made a Will, a Pour Over Will, Power of Attorney, Healthcare Directive, then created a 'Living Will Trust'. This Living Will Trust meant that I could avoid Probate Court, her estate remained private, and all I had to do was make one phone call to the attorney that drew up all of the legal paperwork, and he did the bulk of the rest. Now, if I can just convince my own hubby to do the same for our children! Having these decisions made before the emotions of the reality takes over was the most loving gift indeed. Thank you for the reminder, Neil. 👋
Go to the attorney and set up your own estate plan. Invite your husband to go with you to support you and ask any questions he may have. Set your affairs in order so hopefully he follows suit. My grandparents and parents had “sweetheart wills” attached to their living trusts where if one spouse dies everything reverts to the living spouse. If both pass away the estate goes to all children split equally.

I'm an Aussie and the plans for the Royal guests have just been released in the last few days so people are starting to get excited. The one even that I thought was kind of funny is that apparently they are going to get an Aussie version of the Buckingham Palace Garden Party in the form of an Aussie BBQ for the public who have been selected to meet them (Prince's Trust members etc). As it is known that very often (you said every 6 months but I thought it was every year; but I'm sure You are correct) funeral arrangements are 'updated' for the monarch. Just in case! This makes perfect sense, and we know that plans had ALWAYS been in place for our dear 'late' Queen Elizabeth II for all of the 7 decades that she was the Queen! We are (of course) still VERY concerned with the health of the King, but it would appear that he is doing well, and working when he feels up to it, and is permitted to, by his doctors and Queen Camilla. Not always royal duties either, but helping 'others' as well. Which doesn't surprise me one bit. He may be the King, but he is so much more! An individual who is "fighting the fight of his life" (regarding his cancer treatment) but not allowing himself to be ruled by it. Hi NZ my second home. From Australia ❤ I think he only mentioned Australia on this occasion because the KING has had to reduce the size of the tour which meant missing NZ this time round. After his visit, it won't be long before the Wales head over our way and NZ will be top of the list for this very reason.

Part of me is glad they are coming but another part wishes they had waited until the King was finished his treatment and stronger. It is a long flight to Australia and it takes a toll on most travellers even if they are in good health. A few commenters have said the Royals will be travelling in first class comfort but that doesn't stop jet lag and they will be on the go. I know Charles was anxious to visit but I think it would have been better to come a bit later and stayed longer to visit more places. So many like us are going to miss out and that's the sad part.

King Charles III should keep as active as he's able to be and he seems to have a positive attitude which is helpful in healing. He probably has had good days and bad days also.
For Heaven's Sake! The King's doctors know he pushes boundaries. Advising him not to take an extended trip neglects the fact that they have said he can take a long-distance journey. I believe they are governed by "an abundance of caution."
Under the circumstances I think it’s not a great idea for Charles to be travelling to Australia….he should stay home and actually do some work to fix the crap that is going in the RF family . My husband continued working through his treatments too. Of course he’s William’s age not Charles’. Still it does seem that keeping busy helps if you’re able. Not everyone can because treatments are so different. Where someone people have to do the IVs that fill your entire system with poison others have the milder pills or a slower more targeted approach.
It is a very sensible approach to have a funeral plan. It makes it all more personal. Wishing King Charles all the very best in his on going cancer treatment and journey. Long live the King.
My own funeral will be a low profile affair. It's what I have requested. No gun salutes, no press, no cameras. My life has been one of modesty and my obsequies must be modest also. One day, my story will be told. As for Royal funerals, it was common knowledge that the Queen Mother would watch the rehearsals for her funeral.
I've outlived everyone in my family, the only relatives I have are overseas, a long way to come for cucumber sandwiches and a cup of tea, my funeral will be nonexistent, just pop me on the hot coals, I'm not sentimental about it.

I think King Charles is a great role model for any Cancer sufferers he’s strong willed and positive which is important with Cancer recovery - I remember a documentary on Prince Charles when William and Harry were at home as teenagers and their main concerns were the long hours their father worked into the night - I don’t think he’ll change now -- As for weather here in Melbourne it’s rain I need going into Spring when everything is coming to life in the garden I’m already hand watering some plants - my little pocket of Melbourne missed out on rain recently but at least we don’t have a lot of extreme heat like others . England has a beautiful Autumn ☺️those lovely parks and gardens 🤗
Neal, this may just be your best story you have ever done. You addressed and explained the topic perfectly. I have wondered about this topic and you have set my mind at ease. I made it through cancer and I sure as hell did not look as gtheiLLthe King and the Princess of Wales are doing. I was trashed. But seeing their stamina, rosy cheeks, and wonderful attitudes are proof that with the advancements of cancer treatment today expectations to return back to good health are wonderful.
That makes perfect sense Neil, it's a natural course of events that plans can change from day to day. I look forward to when the BRF are all back to normal duties, whenever that may be.
Of course plans, wills and suchlike need regular revew and updating as necessary. How many of us make a will in our 30s and then leave it to remain unrevised as we approach joining the choir invisible.

Charles should be left alone to concentrate on getting better, it's up to him how he lives his life. In the meantime, if working helps him cope then so be it. The one thing he doesn't need is H adding to the stress, so well done William and the Palace staff for keeping H away from him.

'all' monarchs for that matter. As it is known that very often (you said every 6 months but I thought it was every year; but I'm sure You are correct) funeral arrangements are 'updated' for the monarch. Just in case! This makes perfect sense, and we know that plans had ALWAYS been in place for our dear 'late' Queen Elizabeth II for all of the 7 decades that she was the Queen!
We are (of course) still VERY concerned with the health of the King, but it would appear that he is doing well, and working when he feels up to it, and is permitted to, by his doctors and Queen Camilla. Not always royal duties either, but helping 'others' as well. Which doesn't surprise me one bit. He may be the King, but he is so much more! An individual who is "fighting the fight of his life" (regarding his cancer treatment) but not allowing himself to be ruled by it.
For the most part King Charles III is a very good man, doing his best for himself (to get better) and for his family, and (of course) his country, and his people. Who are many! I am very proud of 'our' King and I hope that "all will be well" and that he lives a longer good life. God willing! 🙏

@@rosiehunt8491 Announced quietly. I only know about them arriving through social media. Even with that I am unsure of which dates where. Bit sad, I hoped he would come within a 4-5hr drive so I could see them, but those two are more of a two day drive (I'm not as young as I used to be).

Part of me is glad they are coming but another part wishes they had waited until the King was finished his treatment and stronger. It is a long flight to Australia and it takes a toll on most travellers even if they are in good health. A few commenters have said the Royals will be travelling in first class comfort but that doesn't stop jet lag and they will be on the go. I know Charles was anxious to visit but I think it would have been better to come a bit later and stayed longer to visit more places. So many like us are going to miss out and that's the sad part.

Somehow I think this could be the last visit from him, and most likely the last from her. After waiting a few years for an operation, it looks like it will be happening around their visit so popping down to Sydney won't be happening. They better send the Waleses or the Edingburgh's to finish the tour.

My husband continued working through his treatments too. Of course he’s William’s age not Charles’. Still it does seem that keeping busy helps if you’re able. Not everyone can because treatments are so different. Where someone people have to do the IVs that fill your entire system with poison others have the milder pills or a slower more targeted approach.
It is a very sensible approach to have a funeral plan. It makes it all more personal. Wishing King Charles all the very best in his on going cancer treatment and journey. Long live the King.

My own funeral will be a low profile affair. It's what I have requested. No gun salutes, no press, no cameras. My life has been one of modesty and my obsequies must be modest also. One day, my story will be told. As for Royal funerals, it was common knowledge that the Queen Mother would watch the rehearsals for her funeral.
I've outlived everyone in my family, the only relatives I have are overseas, a long way to come for cucumber sandwiches and a cup of tea, my funeral will be nonexistent, just pop me on the hot coals, I'm not sentimental about it.

I think King Charles is a great role model for any Cancer sufferers he’s strong willed and positive which is important with Cancer recovery - I remember a documentary on Prince Charles when William and Harry were at home as teenagers and their main concerns were the long hours their father worked into the night - I don’t think he’ll change now -- As for weather here in Melbourne it’s rain I need going into Spring when everything is coming to life in the garden I’m already hand watering some plants - my little pocket of Melbourne missed out on rain recently but at least we don’t have a lot of extreme heat like others . England has a beautiful Autumn ☺️those lovely parks and gardens 🤗

Neal, this may just be your best story you have ever done. You addressed and explained the topic perfectly. I have wondered about this topic and you have set my mind at ease. I made it through cancer and I sure as hell did not look as gtheiLLthe King and the Princess of Wales are doing. I was trashed. But seeing their stamina, rosy cheeks, and wonderful attitudes are proof that with the advancements of cancer treatment today expectations to return back to good health are wonderful.
