Dollhouse therapy. I love it! I need the specialty where they stop you from doing the most complicated thing you can think of. "I know. How about a curved wall!!" or "I've got a great idea. How about barrel terra cotta shingles cut from milk shake straws--2200 of them." Crazy stuff. But so fun. The door and the bead board look great.
Me: "I'm up before everyone else. I'll watch the new Little Gretchen video without interruption!" Reality: Interrupts video 5 times in first 8.5 minutes of videos, not counting ads. 🙄 Such is life. Great job on the door! I'm glad the glue therapy is going so well! 🙂 There was still the extra glue on the hinge to reassure us that it's still really you. 😊😉 Thank you for the sanding advice without the sound of sanding!
I know the feeling! i wish there was another way. I am considering some membership options. I'm glad you can see my progress. Now if I could just remember to wear my gloves and use my saw handle! LOLOLOL!!!
The rooms have turned out lovely, and the doors look especially good. They definitely look older and worn. I admire your restraint on glue usage! And I see you’re using a ruler occasionally also. Kudos Gretchen! 🎉
Thank you Candace! Also, Thank you so much for noticing my efforts! The struggle is real! Old habits die-hard! Lololol 😂 🤣 🤣 But I believe the results are inspiring!
And again you make it all look so simple lol. It looks great, but that's because it has your magic touch all over it. By the way, loving your nails today lady!
Proud of the glue and measuring rehab progress! Yes theres best practice and what we tend to do, I'm impatient too and am always snapping partly sawed wood and, truthfully, it makes it longer because you have to deal with the raggedy edges afterwards because, this is a truth of woodworking, "it never snaps cleanly!" It's like payback for taking shortcuts. Loved the video Gretchen, youre one of the most relatable people on TH-cam, and yet your work comes out beautifully!
Thank you! You are right it does take extra time because you have to compensate for the jagged edges or off cuts!!!When i found out shimming was a REAL thing in Life size carpentry I laughed LOLOL! i feel like i have learned all kinds ways the improvise and camouflage! LOLOLOL! So in some ways i feel like I have mastered that!! LOLOLOL! Thank you for saying I'm relatable, that is SUCH a WONDERFUL Compliment! Thank you for that feedback it means so much!!
I see you are making great progress with your measuring and glue use!! The door is lovely and old-fashioned and the beadboard is perfect for this house/shop!! 😍❤️
Thanks so much! 😊 I think I really do think the bead board fits well in this house! I appreciate you for noticing my efforts measuring and with my glue usage!!🤭☺️😂
I love love the color of the door! It looks like it has always been there. You know how proud I am of your glue control and measuring but whooo honey I wince when I see your pull saw on the move 😂. You don’t have to change anything, I just have to tease you a bit with a small side of mothering. Beautiful work and plenty of giggles on “This Episode of Little Gretchen’s Workshop.”😘 xx
Thank you Cassandra! i am truly trying to improve! I don't think the system likes my references to uuuuhm ......"heavy glue applications". I believe thinks I'm saying or talking about something else.... It can't perceive the humor or satire. I am so glad you can see my progress! I truly appreciate you "motherly" concern. Let me master light glue applications, then i'll find a handle for my saw!!! LOLOLOL!! thank you fro being here!
The door looks great--also the wall paper and beadboard--and I'd like to add I've already managed to pin hinge a door and frame per your instructions in a past video of yours. It worked great, I love your intuitive way of building!
Thank you Peggy! I really like that, when you said "intuitive way of building"!! That made me smile! So much of what i do is exactly that...I have no idea i just play around until it comes to me! LOLOLOLOLOL! That you for seeing me.....
I absolutely LOVE your videos! You are so funny and these videos provide a lot of detail to follow along. Thank you so much for creating this. Blessings to you!
Oh thank you! This is so Great to hear! I really consider that a true compliment to be binge watched!!!🤭☺️😂l appreciate you for saying this! It's so encouraging! 🥹💖💖💖💖 Thank you for being here and allowing me to share!!!
This is helping me a lot I got a moss creek log cabin for Christmas and I like to put in 2 more rooms so thank you for everything you do I love to watch you
I’m honestly not looking forward to making doors because I have to make so many lol! But I will be rewatching this because it’s something I can do. I just made a fake entrance using popsicle sticks and coffee stirrers and had to use a lot of wood glue as a fill in. But it came out so amazing.
DAWN! I know that feeling! I felt that way making the windows FOR THE DRESS SHOP. But take your time. Create your template. Cut and do one at a time. Take pictures so you can see your progress. I want to make a false entrance in my next project! That's so much fun! ENJOY 💖
I really enjoyed this video as always. Well done on the glue restraint! 😂I’m thinking of extending the roof in the attic of my dolls house to create more space and couldn’t decide how to do it. I love how you have left the shape of the original roof in bead board, it’s a Great idea, thanks for the inspiration, I’ll rewatch that previous video. Xx
Thank you Wendy! I'm glad this video have inspired you or how to overcome you lack of space! Where there is a will there is a way!! Thank you for allowing me to share!
This is right on time! Helps me picture what I’m wanting to do extending the wall in a room & adding a door. Thinking I want to do a transom window above cuz it gets so hot in the summers there 🤔
Looks terrific! So far, I’ve not needed to make a door … but I’ll be sure to refer back to this video when that time comes! It seems really exacting process/build for my wonky-doodle-methods! LOL! Maybe by then I will feel more confident with something so exacting! Today, I actually dressed some little dolls - and used your methods! For my first time at doing so, they turned out pretty good! I even made the little boy have suspenders as you did - I found a child’s old, worn leather glove at a thrift shop recently - just ONE glove! So, they gave it to me for free! I used it to make short pants for him, along with suspenders - again, thanks for the inspiration and demonstrations! The neG thing about the glove, too, was I cut 2 of the fingers - and they instantly became the legs of the short pants! I ordered a # of old Nutshell News magazines from eBay and they arrived this afternoon. Can’t wait to dig into them tonight! Thanks again for EVERYTHING! Have a great week ahead! Kathleen
@@recoveringsoul755 yes, they do look like lederhosen! The old leather glove made it pretty easy! Yes, Nutshell News - the 1/2 size magazine full of minis! I wish something similar was being published today. ☺️
Please do! I really think the foam board works well. It's easy to cut and it's flexible, which is very convenient during installation! Even if you wanted to make the walls thicker or more rigid you could glue two boards together and it still works! Let me know how you like it! Have FUN!!!
Wow i absolutely love the way the door looks. And im thinking or trying the Alcohol wash method. I usually add water so im anxious to see if using alcohol makes the difference. Cause it looks amazing on your door. Great job!!!
Hey Ali!!! Thank You! The biggest difference is that alcohol evaporates really quickly, so the "stains" stay rather than staying damp and getting smeared. So I don't have to be so careful 🤭😃💖 Thanks for watching! ☺️
So timely for me! I am in process of doing the same thing- and I've never done it before! 😄 Oh no, I didn't consider a jamb 🤣 I also didn't know to sand in one direction. I thought that was only for fingernails. 😂 Do you use special kinds of pins? Is the glue going in to both the door itself and the jamb? I'm bookmarking this video so I can refer to it. I know I've seen you do this before but this was super helpful. Thank you! Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! 👏👏👏 😍✨
You can do it! Just take your time and go step by step! Don't over think it. I use brass that i got in a builders bundle off ebay a few years ago but dress making pins work fine. I put glue on the tip of the pin so that it goes in the hole and locks the pin in. Complete the door an build jamb around it. Keep checking inside the opening to make sure what you are making will fit! Let me know how it goes. If you have trouble don't hesitate to reach out! i'm here!
@@littlegretchensworkshop7665💕 Thanks SO MUCH for the encouragement!!! It's going as well as can be expected for my first door. I don't even have doorknobs. Lol. I'm about to add the pins😬. I'm going to rewatch your video first! 🤞🏻I woukd never be trying this IF NOT FOR YOU! Thank you so much😘😘😘
So glad I watched again before installing my hinges because I realized the holes in my doors were not deep enough. I was planning on trimming some long pins but they would have been less than 1/4 in. I'm redrilling as I'm watching 😅 Whew. So many elements to consider! Like the floor too! 🤨 My friend, I think you have saved me hours of work ! 🥰
