That is so true. I still like country music, but my favorites will always be from the 80’s and early 90’s. Dan Seals is one of my favorites. What a wonderful pure voice he had. This song always makes me tear up😢
Precious lyrics.... In the cosmos Of the universe God is...... Wonderful Magnificent Marvelous My heart will go on without you in the human form but Be enlightened because of His magnificent glory and Grace I seem to be a bother to humans But not God
This is one of my absolute favorite older Country Songs. Before the "New" Country stomped in and Country music went down the drain. Rest in Peace Dan Seals. So much talent. This song is such a heart breaker and I still love it so.......
I didn't realize he'd passed. I was a kid during Seals & Crofts days, and I saw him in concert around the time of "Bop." Great song, in the tradition of Merle Haggard's "Holding Things Together." I didn't recall the song, until I saw a wonderful cover by John Paul White.
That pedal steel adds to the soulfulness of this song. It's a stunner. There are very few country songs like it these days. Give a listen to John Paul White's version. Also, the Haley Sisters. Both are stellar. Dan would be proud...
Dan is left handed playing a right handed Martin 12 string upside down. Amazing talent. One of my all time favorite songs EVER! Gone way too soon. RIP.
I'm 20 years old, so I was only six or seven when Dan Seals died, and thus, I didn't really get to hear him during his hayday. But, as I've gotten older, and started to become an enthusiast of old country music, I have grown to be a huge fan of Dan Seals. Great voice, and songs that really get in your feelings. One of the best to do it.....
my wife left me for another man. i have raised two of our children for 4 years. after that got another great and loving wife .. (thank you Lord ) .. and this becomes my favourite song till now .
My mind wonders back into the 80s when I heard this on the radio and I was in tears, I looked over at my dad, hoping he hadn't noticed me crying, but he had big huge tears in his eyes too. ❤ I miss my sweet Dad. Died same year as Dan. He sure was a favorite at our house.
I had no idea that Dan had passed away in 2009. My heart just sank when I read the first comment that Heavens got a helluva band. His voice his style was one of a kind and for him I will put a few of his songs on because he was a performer I greatly appreciated for his kindness and his amazing talent. I sang one of his songs at the Bluebird in Nashville in 1992 then one of my own ...when I stepped down from the stage a large bearded man stood and shook my hand, it was Dan Seals.
I didn't realize that Dan Had passed away. He will be greatly missed as a very classic country singer that sang real country songs from the heart as only a real cowboy could. Rest in peace my cowboy hero....Your songs will always be in my heart. March 25th will be marked on my calendar as a day to remember the classic cowboy singer...RIP...Cowboy
One of my favorite songs. Did not realize that he had passed away. I had the pleasure of meeting Dan in 1988. He was in town doing a benefit concert for Special Olympics. I was part of the stage crew and I talked to him a couple times that day. He was one of the nicest guys I ever met. Rest In Peace, Dan.
I’m right beside you brother, the resurrection is the hope the we all focus on. And I would love to meet Dan when he walks this world again when it is a paradise. I had the pleasure of seeing him in concert in Minot North Dakota years ago, was then and is still today my favourite performer. Love his voice and his talent.
I could listen to this a 1000 times and would still get the same chills that I got the first time I heard it. I had the chance to see Dan 3 years and anything hid did was moving. Being able to sing is one thing but he could emotionaly sell his product also. A legend is an understatement. RIP
This is one of my all-time favorite Country songs and my all-time favorite version of this song. There's something about this acoustic version that gives me chills every time I listen to it. Especially when Dan sings those high notes. Wow!
Brian Brooks - There is another unplugged version with Dan accompanied by several other country legends. It’s later than this one, and even more moving. It’s on TH-cam, too.
This is the best it gets live and with acoustic only, you can't hide anything like this , you're either good or terrible , maybe new artist should pay attention to what this man could do.... , Dan Seals was a fantastic singer and guitar player and I will miss him and hope that country music remembers him and gives him the credit he so rightly deserves , RIP Dan because I will never forget your contribution to music and country music as a whole...thank you sir... it was a pleasure to hear you on the radio while you were with us and it reminds me of how great you were every time I hear you on the radio after you're passing, bless you and your family
1) This Song Reminds Me Of Raising My Daughter Alone Without Her Mom. But, You Know, Looking Back, I Wouldn't Trade The Great Memories We Have Together For The World. 2) Dan's Voice Gives Me Chill Down My Spine.
Out of all the music live this is defintly 1 of top ones if the top best.left handed guitar player are rare like left handed guitars are more now than they used to be but dan improvised right handed guitar he's playing upside down strung big string on the bottom Hendrix done this but he strung it normal big string on top.had a buddy he'd played exzackly like Dan does I learned a lot from Eddie Grubbs.
i used to work in Mcamy Texas for a guy that knew this man that song right there is so beautiful and tells a story alot of us could tell in our own way and bonus he is left handed like Just beiber there is something magical about them leftys , i miss you Dan and if you were at Billy Bobs id go there now to dance to every song
This is apex of Dan's hard work he was a pop star in 1970s liked all his music I'm glad he went to the country side.use to be u had to only sing 1 type of music.
I absolutely love this song, and I am so sad that he passed away. Somebody mentioned on another video that they visited his final resting place, and it had no flowers just weeds covering it, broke my heart. But they said they clean it up and left some pretty flowers
The name Dan Seals says it all! An amazing man, with an amazing talent. One of my all-time favorite songs, by one of my all-time favorite artists. RIP Dan!
Dan Seals is an all time favorite. As a guitar player, seeing that he plays upside down... without re stringing is amazing. Lots of time went Into learning that way. Absolutely amazing talent this man was.
Went to his show years ago in Bombay, as it was called then. It was put up by USIS, and hosted by Judy Massa of VoA, Country Music USA. Loved his voice and his music. Still enjoy listening to his music.
I just cannot believe he died! He is one of my favorite musicians. When he was doing the England Dan he was awesome and even switching to country it was just so natural for him. Amazing singer/songwriter/guitarist. The world says Goodbye to yet another legendary artist.
Shannon, I was one of those Dads raising a daughter like that but in the early 2000's. Every time I hear this beautiful song by this beautiful man I think of what that stupid woman left behind and gave up to go out to "find her dream". It's 2022 now and she still hasn't found what she was looking for. She already had it all and left it behind. We're better off without her.
I was trying to learn this song years ago. I was playing it one night when my 2 year old Vizsla ran in from another room and put her head on my shoulder until I finished. I lost her in February. I don't think I'll ever be able to do this song again.
I have tried that with mine and it is almost impossible ?? I guess if that is the way you learned you would be fine with it. I knew a girl that sang gospel back in'75 that played her guitar the same way. I think maybe Elizabeth Cotten did too?
RIP Dan. You were a great talent. There is nothing I love to do more than sing and play my old Hummingbird. Maybe, when it's my time, I can play and sing with you, Dan Fogelburg, Kevin Sharp and many other people that are now with God. Thank you for the many years of great music.
I saw Dan in concert two different times in my life. He didn't need fancy lights or special effects. His voice was more than enough to carry the show. My sympathies to his family and the fans who love his music.
I've always been so impressed how he plays a right-handed 12-string, left-handed and upside down with the strings in their original fretting. (Not reversed) Great cross-picking on his modified chords. Always loved this song and Dan's vocals! 😊

Yep
New country still makes me cry, just for a different reason 🤣

@@elizabethlinsay9193 I think that beautiful instrument is a dobro, not a steel. What a great version of this moving song.
My Mom left me at 1 and this is my song to my Daddy. Not many men raised daughters by themselves in the 70's. I love this song.
God Bless you and your Daddy!

the under-appreciated part of this song is that he plays a 12-string guitar...…...upside-down !

Its restung for a lefty
