I went to school with John Paul White. We were in chours together. I never doubted that he wld make it big one day.& his heart is as huge as his talent.. Great Family.
I brought a friend along to see JPW for the first time. After the first song, she exclaimed, "where has he been all my life????" I can't believe he isn't top level famous. I mean, I'm glad he isn't, because the meet and greets would go away. LOL. What a gracious, humble, and talented man he is!
I have listened to every TH-cam video of this song, including the original fan seals version. This one is head and shoulders over them all. John Paul's angelic voice and interpretation is the best.
Not a big country fan but I record old rock songs and instrumentals. I did this song a year ago and love it. Dan Seal's masterpiece is done here by John Paul White. His version is a masterpiece in subtlety, just like Seals wanted. I think I have a new country favorite.
Never heard anyone else even attempt a Dan Seals song but damn he nailed it. I was a little girl when this song came out and it always pulls at my heart strings to the highest power.
Jeff, i was this many years old when i learned you'd recorded and uploaded this performance. That song still stands out in my mind as the single greatest live vocal performance of my lifetime.
I saw him in STL last year and also in KC...and I remember very clearly this song when he performed it. Gave me goosebumps, as did the rest of his set! Got to meet and chat with him both times too and I can honestly say as genuine as he seems on camera he is 100 times more genuine in person. Can't wait to do it again this year!
Gorgeous....I love listening to his interviews. Love how he loves his family but also that voice, his musicianship...he fits with the great performers (Kris K., Jon Levenathal, Bill Cooley, Johnny Cash). Good to know this music will go on. Would love to see him record this song. I bought "Beulah" and am playing it constantly.
Did you hear the song? It has content, and it's a certified tearjerker, man. I expect the "character" writing the letter (the song is written in epistolary form), might have teared up a little too.
No one will cover this as good as Dan Seals did it. RIP my friend.
A worthy and fitting tribute to one of the relatively unsung giants of music, Dan Seals.
Man........that's it John Paul. Just shows there is more talent in this world than spots on big stages. Wonderful
If an artist can hold a crowd with his voice and a guitar, he’s the real deal
You nailed it.
EXACTLY!!!!!!
This is the only Dan Seals song that I've ever heard anybody take from him.
JPW, well done.
Stoney Larue has a version.... but nothing close to this amazing job
@@user-wb9cx1sn3r like I said...

What kind and loving things to say! Thank you.
His voice brings me so much joy...💞💞

I would have never thought that anyone could cover this, and do it real justice, but *damn.* Sobbing here. 😭
Exactly…wow!
I'm still waiting for someone to do a good cover of it.
I have listened to every TH-cam video of this song, including the original fan seals version. This one is head and shoulders over them all. John Paul's angelic voice and interpretation is the best.
Lay off the drugs, not even half as good as dan seals
I can never stop listening and listening and listening to John Paul White. Both his vocals and the songs he writes are brilliant.
Went to Favorites right away.
That is one beautiful song being sung by a great voice.
JPW has breathed life back into a very good song!
Yawn
Good job fella. Great tribute to Dan Seals
Best cover I’ve heard. Super
I could listen to this every hour forever.
This is further proof that when we lost the civil wars there was also something that we gained.Holy cow that was amazing.
I want to hug J P W he sings to my heart
he has a voice so full of emotion that make a person cry
JP was from the civil war?
Top 10 Songs Ever!

To do Dan Seals on this song is hugely brave, in my opinion. He's very brave to try....and it TOTALLY works! Dan would be proud. Way to nail it, JP.
Barely works. But yes, balls as big as church bells to try to emulate the GOAT Dan Seals.
One of the best live vocal performances I have ever heard in 50 years of living was this concert. JPW is astonishing.
Look up Nathan Pacheco and Dallas green there very good live!
Astonishing is a lovely word to apply to this performance.
Jeez. Y'all are lacking and smoking crackin
This performance is So beautiful and so touching. New lifetime fan here!🎶🎼
What a voice.
Floors me every time.
Simply Beautiful...
Never heard anyone else even attempt a Dan Seals song but damn he nailed it. I was a little girl when this song came out and it always pulls at my heart strings to the highest power.
Loved it!!
Check out brooks and duns 😂😂
Still waiting on someone to nail it. This was a good version but no one beats Dan Seals
Beautiful, heartfelt voice. This song takes me back and breaks my heart to this day...
Same. Hugs sister.

That was pretty damn good.
Outstanding job
Very very good
Love this man.

That’s the best I’ve heard since Dan Seals. Wow! Some people can’t make those highs.
Talk about heart-felt...had to wipe his eyes and that got to me almost as much as the song and the beautiful rendition of it.
that voice is some kind of instrument
Why isn't he celebrated ,
Always loved this song. It's a heartbreaker.
You Are Awesome-There Are 3 People That Are Tone Deaf And Have No Heart. I Got To Listen To This Again.
He's hitting those high notes...Great cover of a hard song to do.
Mmm mmm ! No one could sing that song like J.P, beautiful.
Um. Half as good as Dan
🥰 that voice!
Love his voice.
Another great performance by the amazing JPW. His covers are great and his originals are, too.
I just love him. And if you have a chance to see him in person, do so!
Wow...OMG....best cover...so far...
Chilling!! Wow.
Beautiful version of a great song; reminiscent of Merle Haggard's "Holding Things Together," in that, it's not always the man who breaks up a family.
Dan is smiling
I really love this guy! I saw him in person a few weeks ago in a small venue. So fantastic.
Perfect
I heard him for the first time with Brandi Charlile now he is one of my favorits. Beautiful voice. Thank`s for posting.
Great job! You are the only one I can even make it past 30 seconds. Thank you so much for posting this.
Wow.....glad J.P. is back!
That was wonderful.
Absolutely phenomenal I'm sure you made the spirit of Dan seals proud.
This song is beautiful and this cover is even more so. Lordy...
Very good. VERY. Perfect phrasing. Perfect guitar part. Not too much. Just right for the song. Hats off to you, sir. Thank yoy

Sooooo very good. So glad to see these great old songs fall on new ears
Wow, this is so beautiful!
Fantastic. Very soulfully done. I do this in a drop D tunning. John Paul i love how you finger pick & play single note & triad pull offs.
Outstanding!
love this cover! the eye wipe gets me at the end, and makes me wonder what touched JPW enough that he teared up.
Did you hear the song? It has content, and it's a certified tearjerker, man. I expect the "character" writing the letter (the song is written in epistolary form), might have teared up a little too.
A great cover and really worthy (ImO) of including on a future album. Definitely one of the best live performers I ever heard.
He has a voice so emotional that it makes me cry to listen to him. love his voice. I bought his CD called Beula and love it.
Incredible!
Absolutely stunningly beautiful

Nice Cover!
Great song! Hello type in "Ron Howard Cover" listen to "The Dance" R.I.P Dan
I live in KC.
Where the heck is the record bar?
Loved the song but is the camera really warping reality in the background ?
That is a little strange but nothing is warping that amazing vocal performance ! :)
