Brilliant! Thank you very much. Strangely - my S8 from the US, travelled to Brazil, Brazilian SIM card - no issues whatsoever. Travelled to the UK, and, after using a UK SIM card...that was where the fun began. Thanks a bunch for posting this!

Similar issue with my US S8. Went to Singapore, no problem. Went to Germany and used a Vodafone sim card and then my vzw sim wouldn't work. This fixed it. Thanks.

THANK YOU! I've been battling this for 3 days. Same thing... European SIM card, come home, and everything on the phone is jacked up. Did what you said (minus clearing the cache), and everything is back to normal.

After I came back from Europe, I could never figure this out and just lived with it. Phone did the same thing after coming back from Australia. I got curious about resolving this and found your video. Lo and behold, it worked! Now I feel like I'm part of my network again.

Thank you! This solved my problem with OnePlus 5. We got SIM cards on trip to England last year. We did have any issues putting our AT&T Consumer Cellular sims back in when we got back, but today we switched to T-Mobile Consumer Cellular SIM cards and could get data to work until we cleared the cache as you described.

Thank you so much! Worked for me.
I have an unlocked Galaxy S8 and use Republic Wireless in the US. I spent six weeks in Germany using a Vodafone sim card, and when I got back and put my Republic sim card back in, I got the same repeating pop-up message, and was unable to send sms text messages. Following these steps fixed it for me, thank you!!

Worked for me on an unlocked galaxy S8. I had a similar situation... I went to Europe and used a prepaid sim from over there... I got home put in my old sim and also could not get rid of that notification. I thought I was going to have to live with it, but no longer. Well done 👍

Thank you ! this worked on my galaxy s8 also. I have been to T-MOBILE and they said it was a Samsung problem so I called Samsung and they said it was a T-MOBILE problem. Such an easy fix. Thanks!

Thanks so much! I returned from the UK and had this issue on my s8. For some reason it took many attempts to boot into recovery as it kept booting into "safe mode" Instead. Got there in the end and phone is now great again. You rock!

I had the same issue - just returned from Europe - was using a Telekom Prepaid SIM - AT&T SIM caused the SIM reboot loop which wasn't ideal...your method solved it. Thanks!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. After spending some time in the UK I could not use my samsung gear app store anymore and this message kept popping up.
This fixed it as the SIM card is what tells the samsung app where the phone is. Spent many hours trying top fix the store problem and then decided to try to fix this first and it just fixed both problems. Cheers

Holy hell it worked for me. Installed Three UK SIM for Europe trip, then the problem started when I installed my ATT SIM. This fixed the loop. Thank you!

    • @kelvindean
      @kelvindean 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Hint: If you install a third party file manager, check the folders "optics" and "prism" in the root directory to see which CSC codes are supported by your device. For example, an AT&T SIM card (XAA or ATT) won't work correctly on a device sold in the UK (BTU or EUX), since they don't have the same model number (SM-S908B with OXM vs SM-S908U with OYM or OYN).
On the Wi-Fi only variants, this is a factor when it comes to calling and texting on other devices. In the United States, the Galaxy Tab S7 and S7 Plus can pair with devices from almost the entire world, but the Tab S7 FE can only pair with devices from North America, Europe, and India.

I have this issue since Samsung change my phone's fried motherboard. Now it prompts the autopreconfig notification everytime I reboot, even if I didn't change my sim card nor travelled anywhere. Tried to wipe cache as well and no luck. The only good thing about this I discovered that Caller ID and Spam Protection is greyed out in my phone and somehow it has to do with this Service Provider Update issue.

Important question: after doing this, will the phone accept other carriers' sim cards?
I have unlocked Exynos european version (still on factory Oreo 8.0.0, I blocked upgrades via adb) and I get this notification (no popup, just notification) every time phone reboots (and then I dismiss it). My phone lost internet data connection yesterday and I couldn't get it back even after network settings reset. Luckily I have work phone with different carrier so I swapped sim, rebooted, then I put back in my sim and then I got internet data connection back. So in a way I re-reset those settings. I am afraid that if I do these recovery mode steps it might get locked into network carrier (and I sure as hell don't want a carried-locked phone).

I got this problem as well, it did not let me wipe cache and I got fail to open recovery. I looked around, and when I put safe mode it took out a samsung theme I used and put the default theme. I put my phone on as normal and still had the message , so I uninstalled a few apps and that error message went away.

It wouldnt and shouldn't even be an issue in the first place if america used the same cellular standards as the rest of the world. When I've been to mainland Europe and used a local sim my UK mobile phone (Motorola XT910) just worked normally. It didnt need to reconfigure. Only the phone number was different. My contacts and everything else stayed the same.
