FILM DESCRIPTION:
After a particularly difficult job, hit men Ray (Colin Farrell) and Ken (Brendan Gleeson) head to Belgium to hide out until things cool down. Ray hates the medieval city they land in, but Ken finds its beauty and peacefulness enchanting. Their experiences become increasingly surreal and possibly life-changing as they encounter tourists, locals, an American dwarf and a potential romance for Ray.

@@kaj7135 She knew they weren't going to shoot while she was in the building, Harry even promised Ray they wouldn't. So she tried to use that as leverage to avoid a shootout all-together. She wasn't putting herself or her baby in danger

I used this in my psychology class as an example of a "superordinate goal," where two conflicting parties put aside their differences to collaborate on a more important cause. Harry still wants to kill Ray, but they both want to keep the lady and her baby safe.
I would love to sit in on that lesson

I can't stop laughing at Ray's impatience and eye roll at 1:33. And of course, Harry's incredulous response. The acting in this movie is flawless.

I can’t help but feel Harry is breaking the fourth wall by saying “this is ‘the shootout’”. As in saying, this is the last act, this is how the story must end.

The innkeeper was brilliant.
I crack up every time they are waiting for the count and argue afterwards over who says it. When Marie says they are crazy about their incredulousness about agreeing to a count before shooting.
Exquisite black comedy. A life or death situation and they're acting like two kids arguing over the rules of a game of tag.

I always wondered why Ray doesn't lie down on top of the boat or try to hang off the side just in case Harry could hit him. Looking at the positioning of his body, I think he was trying to make sure Harry wouldn't hit the driver by accident, even at risk to himself.

Gotta love how Thekla Reuten, the actress playing Marie The Hotel Proprietor With Child in this scene, ends up playing a rabidly murderous assassin in “The American” two years later.

From the angle of Harry's shot, and the bullet going straight through Ray, I'm surprised the boat driver didn't also get hit.
Bullets richochet in the human body and rarely would exit on the same trajectory as entered, only for super high power rifle rounds where it doesn't so much go through a body as it completely disintegrates it.
A movie where Voldemort is named “Harry”? Hmmm...

I love this film and have always had a thing for Thekla Reuten... but it has to be said, she looks especially beautiful sitting on those stairs. Those eyes... My God!

Maybe I don't shoot often enough but 75 feet with a hangun at a moving target strikes me as hard.
Maybe Ray knows how good Harry is. Harry is relatively old. Maybe Ray knows, that his eyes are not so good any more or his hand not steady. Or Ray is just cocky, after all Harry made it.
Hickock45 has a video of him using a COMMANDER (which is a smaller version) 1911 to hit his gong at 230 yards. Sure its not 100% accurate, but its a helluva lot further than 25 yards.
If you’re calm and trained, it can be done with ease. The hard part would be remaining cool enough to make a precise shot.
Range vs real life is very different I’d imagine.

I was curious about your comment and did some research. Fandango Movie Clips is owned by an American ticketing company, Fandango. They also own Rotten Tomatoes and other movie things.
I have my complaints about Rotten Tomatoes, their scores are extremely biased and based based on politics and palm greasing.
But I'd say they probably have the right to post clips to hook people into seeing movies.
