    I'm having an issue where my OBS extends the screen instead of duplicating it like it did with yours. Then when i push "duplicate these displays" it does work but then games lock me to 1080 @ 60fps. I can do the projector preview but it has quality loss, the screen looks like it's tearing. How did you get OBS to copy your game screen when your in the extend these displays option? For me it just extends them

    hey bro, I recently bought a 240hz monitor and my elgato hd60 won't allow me to get that 240hz that I bought the monitor for i have watch a lot of different videos about how to fix this problem but my biggest problem is that i can't actually make it so i have more then 1 display when i plug in my elgato from my stream pc into my gaming pc then into the monitor it only lets me see 1 display called Elgato and i can only view 60hz but when i plug a HDMI cable from my gaming pc strait into my new 240hz monitor it can view 240hz and the only display option is my monitor. From what I believe when I plug my streaming pc through the Elgato to my gaming pc and monitor I should have more then one display. If u could help me that would be amazing.

    • @Diff3RentViews
      @Diff3RentViews  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm guessing you're trying to use the pass through port in the elgato card. You cant do that and achieve what you're looking for because the card captures 60hz and doesn't pass through anything more than it captures. The video I have here shows plugging a new port on the gpu to the capture card. This is like connecting a new monitor but instead of a monitor, it's the capture card. The only way to see this monitor is viewing it through a capture software on the streaming pc.

    I've hooked everything up correctly(I think)... And I was getting a message saying something about copy protection blah blah HDCP blah blah , googled and saw that I had to turn that off in the avermedia softwear....did that and finally got the picture up in OBS, trouble is it only shows my desktop and the bar at the bottom. it wont show any games even if they are up and I can see them with my old eyes.... Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

    • @Diff3RentViews
      @Diff3RentViews  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like you are trying to duplicate your monitor to the capture card which you would need a capture. Ard that accepts the resolution and hz that you want to run your monitor at. No other way around it. You want to run at 165hz, you need to find a capture card that will accept a 165hz input.

    • @MattPryze
      @MattPryze 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Diff3RentViews I need to get something straight:
      So a 1080p, 144Hz monitor can be duplicated into a 1080p, 60Hz capture card. (Worked on my old monitor)
      But a 1440p, 165Hz monitor cannot be duplicated into a 1080p, 60Hz capture card? (Limits my new monitor to 60hz)
      How come the first scenario of 144Hz can dupe it at 60Hz, but 165hz cant? Is it due to the Hz or the increased resolution? I don't yet understand why 165Hz cap card would be required when 144Hz cap card wasn't required for the 144Hz monitor. (Not to mention that I don't think any 1440p, 165Hz cap cards exist)

    • @Diff3RentViews
      @Diff3RentViews  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe the elgato 4k60 pro does it. I run 1440p 144hz and 0when I got my products the 4k60 didn't even exist. So I needed to find a solution that would allow me to run my 144hz and be able to record at 60fps. I know this works well. Is there a reason you don't want to run OBS on your gaming pc? It doesn't take up much cpu. You aren't recording or streaming with it. So it's basically just sitting there.Mine will take like 2% cpu.

    • @Diff3RentViews
      @Diff3RentViews  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Monitor Setup
      Desktop - Connect to gaming monitor via cable (HDMI, DP, etc.)
      Laptop - Connect to second monitor via cable (HDMI, DP, etc.)
      Keyboard and Mouse setup - two ways
      1) Use a USB switch (here is the one I own: amzn.to/2WpORwP)
      2) use a program (symless.com/synergy)
      Audio and Mic
      1) You can use a mixer to connect your audio and xlr / 1/4 trs / 3.5mm mic into it then have the output of that mixer go to both PCs or the one you want it to and or headphones. (one I own: amzn.to/3dIwzN1)
      2) You can use the GoXLR Mini (I own: amzn.to/3cplrEQ) or GoXLR (amzn.to/2SYMNKc) to connect all audios and xlr mic
      3) You can use software to send audio from one PC to another; VoiceMeeter (www.vb-audio.com/Voicemeeter/) which with that, you can send audio over your network to your other PC.

      Doing this should not limit your refresh rate at all. I run my 2k at 144hz with no problems. Are you sure you are using a separate port out of your graphics card and not connecting your 2k monitor to the elgato in any way?

    Thanks for the video, I subscribed. I was looking for this very video because I don't want to lose performance while gaming (I think is around 10 fps with OBS). However I have heard of flickering and tearing issues on the HDMI capture card output, which ultimate shows in the stream. I believe this is to compensate for the refresh rate difference between the capture card and the main monitor. Have you found a way to solve this?

    He says that you won't lose your 144hz using this method. This is false. After extending the display to the capture card, my gaming monitor's display settings still listed as 144hz, but upon testing it with Blur Buster's UFO Test, all my monitors were only running at 60hz, regardless of them being listed as 144hz in Nvidia Control Panel and Windows display settings.

  • @CovildoAg0nY
    @CovildoAg0nY 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    You know why this method isen't good?
    Because some games don't have that fullscreen dedicated, that really runs games at 144hz and not share render with windows, like fortnite, or apex legends.
    But in my case, a lot of indie games even that says there "fullscreen" isen't fullscreen, and you notice that easy, because the game dosen't run smoth like preview examples, and have a preview set up in a screen that is 60hz, makes the game in my 144hz runs pretty bad, not even close as will run if I have only my 144hz running, or playing a good optimized game in fullscreen.
    Everytime windows need to make some 3d running in other monitor that isen't your 144hz, they will bottleneck the performance of the 144hz monitor, because windows are running some 3d bullshit "like obs preview" in a 60hz monitor.
    Sorry bad english...

    • @Diff3RentViews
      @Diff3RentViews  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      So what method wouldn't fail then? No method. All methods with obs would fail, no? If you duplicate to capture card, you'll be at 60hz so that fails the 144hz. I haven't found a game that has failed this method. I haven't played every game but I haven't found one that's failed me. Playing full screen and borderless.

    • @Diff3RentViews
      @Diff3RentViews  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I put the discord on a separate audio channel. With the hdmi audio, everything that goes to the default audio gets sent through the cable. So if you take the discord audio off the default audio, it will not be sent.

  • @Pr00fGames
    @Pr00fGames 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    You don't need voice meter. If you want to pass the sound you can set all sources on OBS of the gaming computer to "Monitor and Output" and then on windows you set the output source of OBS to the capture card HDMI. Not every headset works well with voice meter. yes Razer I am looking at you with your stupid THX audio, great headsets though :)
    Hopefully this will help anyone following the guide and having delay issues with voice meter.
