Still looks absolutely incredible. The whole movie does.

I have conflicting feelings about these kinds of 'behind the scenes' docs. On the one hand, as a filmmaker and artist, I love to hear the stories and learn about how they did all this stuff, the innovative ways they were able to accomplish the magic on screen.
On the other hand, watching such docs can truly spoil the magic of the movie going experience. Especially when you learn (and see) the very humble roots of some of the more magnificent things up on screen that have impressed you through the years.
To this day, I still regret watching a 'behind the scenes' documentary on Casablanca, because I cannot watch it without recalling what I learned about a 'cheat' they used to accomplish that final scene.

10 times better than 98% of most CGI stuff in movies today.... ! i wish we go back to real models, i saw alien covenant last week, it was so bad, this crappy CGI aliens..... it ruines EVERYTHING.... and i am not so old, i just dont like this shitty CGI in most cases, older movies are more atmospheric, slower, stronger, just better.
this shit in the video here, thats real art man, just nice!-this is why bladerunner is still one of my favorite sci fi movie. and sorry for bad english ^^

Now go watch District 9 again.
And keep in mind it only cost 30 million to make.
      There's nothing wrong with CGI.
And don't forget all the in camera movies that look absolutely terrible.

You've forgotten all the in camera movies that looked awful.
      It's selective memory.
      Or how about this:
"District 9 is 10 times better than 98% of most vintage VFX in movies of the past"
      See how that works?
It's the same reason "the 80s had the best music", you're only remembering the best stuff, none of the rubbish.
Which makes up 90% of our output.
