True. You just don’t have to use every single one in your setup. There’s a guy here on TH-cam that has a 5 or 6 piece kit and he has something like 45 cymbals set up. He thinks it’s just fine.

Darrens kit looks big but this other guys kit is imbalanced with 30 crashes on a 5 piece kit. It’s ridiculous. If I can find the clip I’ll post it here.

Regarding terrible pedals, I've heard that DW make sub-$200 direct drive double pedals that have a tendency to fall apart real quick. I think they're called the PDP Concept Pedal.
Can confirm. My high school had them and maybe it was the way the previous drummer set them up but they felt too light and overall not nice.

Millenium's and Mapex's cheap double pedals are the worst shit that I've personally played with.

I have those and they are my first double pedals. Started playing drums 5 weeks ago now and I feel like they are fine but I haven't really tried other ones do idk.
Not sure if percussion plus makes a double pedal but I had a single pedal back in 96. 🤮
Even the more expensive Armory ones (below the falcon) aren't great. They feel quite stiff
My first Mapex double pedals were atrocious. My current Mapex double pedals are 10/10

I stopped using cymbal cleaner from the big cymbal companies. Bar Keepers Friend powder is great. A loose mixture for overall maintenance works great. For a heavily soiled used cymbals wet the cymbal and sprinkle the powder on the cymbal and work it in with a sponge with a scrubby pad. Rinse often when you see the black and grey residue. Repeat until the residue is almost white and you the know the cymbal is clean. Be careful around those logos if that’s important to you. BKF works on traditional and brilliant cymbals. Brasso is good to get those brilliant cymbals extra clean. NEVER use any cream cleaners on traditional cymbals. This is why I usually stick to Bar Keepers Friend since it’s safe on all cymbal surfaces.
The most relatable part of the video is about the sticks with splinters you don’t have to have that long of hair to relate just rock really hard
for the jazz i recommend caravan, very good solos and main riffs

They're uncommon, but my vote for worst double bass pedal is the 80's Pearl P880 double kick. Cool concept cause you could mount the slave pedal to virtually any pedal, the only issue is the main pedal's beater angle can only be adjusted so it's either 1 or 1.5 miles away, the footboard is tiny, the slave's beater arm is angled so have fun finding a replacement, and I had to swap the springs because even maxed out the old springs were like a gentle breeze trying to return the pedal. I wouldnt even mind shipping them out for a video cause holy shit do I ever NOT wanna play these things.

I've never been comfortable playing hi hat on a double bass drum kit. So I understand why you play "ride side" hi hat more that the left side. It's just so far away!

I’d really like to see a wise, humble , articulate, and uberskilled drummer such as yourself do a video on the best affordable DD and chain drive double kick pedals for your money or for anyone wanting to dip their toes (😏 literally ) into the DD realm or the longboard kingdom for instance . My choices are PDP 400 single chain for single chain and value for money $100 . More adjustable than you think , smooth and sturdy with a great linkage bar ( very informed opinion ) . The Speed Cobras Wo the coil for double chain around $ 240( somewhat informed opinion ) and my own Gibraltar 6700 series DD pedals very smooth , quite adjustable with separate adjustments and super durable (so far so good )

DXP double kick, back in my young days. Playing in a live shitty deathhore band. We covered Thy Art Is Murder - Whore To A Chainsaw, and the chain broke on the slave pedal. lmao now I have Pearl Demon Drives, and had them for over 10 years \m/
I use cotton sole Kung-Fu slippers to play. 1/4" of cotton on the foot you can feel everything.
I have a Gibraltar pedal i just bought used in”good condition” on GC and It’s straight up garbage! The axel sags and almost collapses while kicking.
The bearings are good on it though so i have no idea what to do with it.

You could try the fame double pedal direct drive. It's the one I use but I don't think people would appreciate it Personally I don't have many issues with it but I haven't tried many other pedals. But ut is a cheap knock-off-kinda pedal so worth a shot I suppose.

When I started to double bass drum I had a shitty double pedal and I just thought you’d want to review it The place you’ll need to buy it is the site wish. IT was so shitty it broke whilst doing the thing it was made for DOUBLW BASS DRUMMING .
Τhe PDP 502 double pedal. This thing sucks. Close to none pedal adjustments available. The worst thing about it, is the beaters. They really damage any drum head i ever played plus they just damaged the bass drum on my millenium ekit.
The only double pedal that I didn’t like very much was the Pearl P932. The single pedals are amazing but the double pedal not so much since it’s a single chain.
It's not about how many drums and cymbals you have but how many people you can get to carry them to a gig 😎👌😆 thanks for the laughs sam.
I wear ballet slippers (not those toe things) when i play. Slightly thicker than a sock thin leather soul so i can still feel the pedal. But also, i live in ga so barefoot is equally acceptable
When I played in a death metal band I used a Gibraltar double base pedal. That was like 1999 ish.
