Woo they were great, beautiful team goals and incredible strike by Morgan. I'll never understand people who say they find women's soccer less entertaining, it's the same game and has all the same excitement.

In my eyes Pugh has not shown up against the top ranked teams yes she looks good against some of the lower ranked teams we played but she has not shown she can provide the same impact against the top tier teams. I point to the "She Believes tournament" where she struggled

E99Y.O If the men played the women they’d absolutely pummel them. Id guarantee you that if the women played in the Men’s World Cup they wouldn’t get anywhere near 3 stars and that’s straight facts. The women’s game is nowhere near as quick, physical, or as tactical as the men’s game.

The men would still pummel the women’s team, World Cup or not. Women’s football is just not as quick or as tactical as the men’s game, almost all the goals that are scored are goalkeeping errors. And women’s goalkeepers tend to parry the ball instead of catching it, and that’s what hold solo used to do. Men are generally much stronger and faster than women, pulisic would run circles around these women, and that’s coming from a die hard México fan.

The US has to find a way to shut out teams more often than not. You cannot always outscore your opponent. They used to have a great offense, great defense, great goalie. They now have an awesome offense, midfield still sucks and defense is suspect, goalie is solid. The result is that they are struggling big time against the top 5 teams. Their advantage compared to these other teams and why they're still #1 is that against solid team their offense allows them to get the win, while solid teams against any of the other top teams could get a draw or even an upset. This can play a big role during big tournaments.
I think the defense is more than suspect. I mean they allowed a team ranked 19th to score a goal as well as a team ranked 15th to score a goal. These are teams that the uswnt should be able to shut out from a defensive standpoint. whats going to happen when we play the top teams. How will this defense hold up against teams like Sweden, France and Australia. teams that we are 0-3 against this year.
Chris Radovan Great point. Jill does not have a complete idea of what type or kind of team to raise after the era of the wambach squad. They had tenacity for every aspect of the game, both on character and attitude. It made it difficult for even better to beat them on the field of play.
You gotta remember most of her coaching experience come from her years as a college coach outside of that she has never coached Professional, never played at this level so her experience from a coaching standpoint is limited at the international level unless you count the 2014-2015 team she inherited a team not of her doing or making and already a proven winner.
Chris Radovan Thanks for the info. I don't know much about her. Nonetheless, she has been with the team for some time (if I am not wrong, she was with the team at the London Olympics) before taking up the mantle of head coach. At least she might have learned some important pointers. The sad thing for me (I may be wrong) is that what the team displays on the field of play is so beneath their capabilities that I get mad. With no respect to previous crop of players, the current squad has so much talent and depth in terms of capabilities and hurts when you see such talents been wasted. She needs to have a focus for her experimentation plan. She does need to look at every player. She needs to players who can play to her game (whatever that is since I have no clue since it took over). For me, it is quite sad to watch the team play. Probably, my expectations are too high after the RE-invention of team after 2007 World Cup. I hope and pray the coaching staff get their acts together and figure out the kind of team they would like to create for the future. It could be thing new since the depth of talent has improved or an improvement of the new with slight modifications here and there. They have to do something. Again, thank you for the heads up on Jill's experience.
