- The Journey is an original U.S. Soccer series that follows U.S. Women’s National Team players on and off the field as they work toward earning a spot at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
This episode of The Journey follows forward Mallory Pugh as she navigated the highs of a meteoric rise through the WNT ranks as a teenager and World Cup victory in 2019 with the lows of injury and self-doubt in the years that followed. Absolutely have loved watching this journey as a fan. There is something just so special and eloquent about how Mal carries herself, it makes it hard not to root her on. Adversity is a blessing in disguise and I'm glad she was able to come put on the other side stronger and more confident than ever!
Lol! How she carries herself? My brothers gf went to school with her- they grew up together and were good friends...until she got in high school & became famous. My brothers gf said she stuck up, and just thought she better than everyone. So, I don't think that a good trait to have.
after her game winner against Germany, she gave my little sister her jersey. she’s such an awesome player and such a great person! can’t wait to watch her be the world cup MVP in 2023!

Heartbreaking....she was gearing up to make this 2023 world cup EPIC....I am so sorry about this injury Mallory. Take the time you need to grieve this as you navigate rehab and recovery. I know your family, friends and fans will be cheering you on the whole way through this thing. You've come so so far over these years. It's not over.

I'm so glad she found it. She worked through a tough-times and got back on top so she knows when the tough times come back around she will do it again. Professional sports is peaks and valleys. the peaks are gravy. Those that go into the valley and make back will be the reason you can win something like a world cup.
She is going to light up the World Cup next year
Mallory dribbles, dances, and accelerates on the PITCH. Her skills can't be duplicated. I'd recommend that her opponents always respect her abilities. Her uniqueness is that she loves the game, and the high impact she constantly has on her ability to garner a win for her team. She's the real deal. The USWNT and her Club team are very aware of this fact. I personally love how she makes her teammates better because of her God given skill set.

No doubt Mallory Pugh is an amazing young talent. What I find incredible is that Mallory, Sophia, and Jaelin all played for Colorado Real Development Academy. What are the odds of three of the best players in the country coming from the same club? No wonder Sporting Blue Valley DA (Overland Park, KS) had such a tough time playing Real. Go get 'em Mallory.
The most explosive player in women’s soccer. I love how she terrifies defenders with her pace and how she attacks them offensively. We got robbed from her greatness in the 2023 WWC. She no doubt would of been the difference maker.
This was awesome!! Praying Mal stays healthy so she can light up the World Cup next year!!

The last 1/4 of the 2nd game against Germany, everyone was tired, specially the German defense and she was running circles around them and seemed to be having fun!! also, during the game, the only way the German defense could stop her, was by fouling her, she is very quick and talented, so excited for her. Go team USA, lets get the 5th start this summer wwc

Good question Chris. Although running at a defender at speed, while controlling the ball , is a nightmare for any defense , football is a team game, and involves passing.
