While everyone is giving credit to other players, Allie long and Morgan brian had very strong games. Both a bit shaky at times but brian held the midfield really well and same with long holding the defense really well.

And although I don't like Allie Long playing center back, she's shown a lot of improvement as a player and is a force to be reckoned with. They both deserve a lot more credit than they get :)

They have a fantastic defense and midfield. But their goalie is sub-par and they don't have one "can't miss world class forward" to put the ball in the net consistently. The US have about all of their forwards (as well as the ones on the bench) AND some midfielders who meet that criteria! If the French can field even one forward of that caliber, that might do the trick, but it's a big question whether they are able to. And I don't see any superstar goalie on the horizon for them either.
Alex, individual skills is only a small component. French women have won neither an Olympic gold or a World Cup. So, the same "skills" won't get them much further because they refuse to change. Furthermore, to the purported superior skills by the French women, have you seen Heath or Press play? They cut, slash, shoot better than anyone on the French team. I love Amandine Henry. She would be a starter if she were American. But that's it. All those pretty skills you speak about, the Americans evolved beyond them years ago. It's all about precise passing, fitness, making creative runs etc. The Americans should've won the 2007 cup were it not for the most moronic goalie substitution in history. And let's not forget that the Swedish game was a colossal upset and the Americans were by far the favorites to win. I'll take the American "skills"/system over the French every single time because they've proven that it results in major titles.

Lynn only has her number till Alex is back with the team. There is supposedly seniority when deciding who gets what number so once Alex Morgan comes back #13 will be hers again. Besides I wouldn't be sad about it for the time being, Lynn is an awesome savvy and extremely fast player just like Alex, so the fact that she is wearing her number right now is perfect. First Cap, First Touch, First Goal for Lynn, that was cool

Alex is a known quantity. She's a superstar. She doesn't need more practice when she needs to rest up and heel much more. Same with Klingenburg and Rapinoe (though I hope not to see Rapinoe back for a long time if ever). This gives Gill Ellis a chance to evaluate many new players and get them familiar with her new system.
whether she is called up or not, there are too many young and better forwards that are performing really well. if she wants a shot she is going to have to trying extremely hard and really dedicate herself
