    We use to camp there in the 1970s. It was so beautiful and the spring was all lit up at night. Swimimg was allowed till 9pm. The campsites were just up the hill from the spring.
    We went there 5 years in a row. We had a pop-up camping trailer

      We went thru the 60s and 70s. They had cabins back then. They sat up the hill and over looked the springs. One of my favorite places. It has changed alot since then.

    Great video. I have been going to these springs all my life and a few hidden one as well and I am always amazed at the beauty. I have also swam in the brown water in a cypress lake most of my life and never had a problem with gators. The brown comes from the tannins in the cypress trees.

    It’s a beautiful spot…we were there this weekend (July 2021)….super busy so we will be going back in the fall/winter months. There is a $10 per person fee to enter on weekends and please note that they open at 8am. There’s limited parking also so it’s worth getting there early and waiting in line before they open. Loved the trail also.

      Thank you so much for the kind thoughts Beach Girl! So happy you enjoyed the video. When we went it was definitely busy but I bet it's gotten even more popular with travel opening up more in the past few months. To get out there early, you could also camp at another one of the local parks like Alexander or Juniper Springs but it would be hard to leave those beautiful parks. Thanks so much for the tips!

    4:30 That plunge is always breathtaking and almost painful. 72 sounds perfect --- after all the thermostat in our house is set at 74. But man does that feel cold. I know it's 72, but it feels like 45. Ahh, but once your body gets acclimated, it's so refreshing.

    • @PSAdventures
      @PSAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      It gets us every time! Isn't that crazy how your house can be that cold and it's not a big deal but then when the water hits you it feels SO COLD. But yeah when you get used to it, it feels so good! Always makes you feel alive. Thanks for watching! 😊

    My friend and I just went last Sunday--air temps in the 60s. We rented a canoe and we saw at least 50 manatees! Two alligators sunning themselves. No power boats parked there at all which was a nice surprise. A few people were in the water, and my friend also braved it. Not me! I'll wait until its hotter, but I'm looking forward to going back next spring/summer. I've lived in NE Florida for nearly 20 years and I can't believe I've never been there before. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! We also hiked both trails, but we also saw a few piles of bear poo...kind of worrisome. Near the turnaround point, we found a couple of deer. Then went a little further and heard some more loud rustling in the woods, chickened out and turned back. A word of caution to anyone considering going out to the SGS Rec Area, admission price is per person, not per vehicle, and it has gone up from what web site says. Also they are not doing hourly canoe rentals, as what the website says, but want you to pay for the daily rental...$40-something dollars. So we thought we'd be paying about $25 for the day, and it ended up coasting about $55! But the water is gorgeous, and I'm glad I went. Thanks for the inspirational nudge, Paul and Sarah!

    • @PSAdventures
      @PSAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow that's so awesome that you had a great time! You definitely saw a ton more wildlife than when we were there! I bet it had something to do with none of the power boats being there to scare them off. And seeing that many manatees. Whoah. Thank you so much for the kind words and great to hear you had a good time! 💕

      @PSAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We've seen people going with 3-4 people before but it's only been the two of us when we've gone. The more you have in the canoe, the slower they go. For kayaks, they have one and two person kayaks. Hope that helps!

    Great capture of your experience, how is the water temp and also from where you park the car to the actual swim spot how far is that distance? I'd really like to take my parents here but they are elder and want to know if it's too challenging

    • @PSAdventures
      @PSAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much for the questions! The water temperature is in the low 70's like most springs in Florida. From what we remember, from the car down to the spring there is a bit of a dirt path that might be a bit of a challenge for the elderly since it's soft sand but they might have paved it since then. You'd have to call and check. It's a beautiful spring if you go. We hope that helps you!

      There definitely could be! 😮🐊 In the spring area though with all the people I'm sure it'd be pretty rare to see one though.

    I would break up with a man if he didn't get a bug off me. Instant disqualifier.

      That's what we heard! When we were there we didn't see any kind of rope or anything to corral it off. It must have shown up after us. Definitely though!

      😆 No we don't have kids, but we actually really do love kids! I could see how it would look from our reaction in the video though.

      Thanks for the suggestion! You can definitely just go visit the park if you'd rather just see the scenery. It's a beautiful place to visit if you're in the area.
