I'll admit I was hesitant when I learnt that the director would be changing for season 2, but seeing the result put my concerns to bed pretty quickly. The focus on lighting, colour, and character animation over detail in design has really done them favours with regard to the overall visual appeal. I really enjoyed the flashback arc and I'm super excited to see how Shibuya turns out!
Can you do a video on the animation of overlord? I’ve always been curious as to why the animation of the series dramatically declined after season one, and the more frequent use of CG.
Overlord's animation was never that good, in all honesty. Character designs way too detailed, not to mention S2 and S3 came out in the same year, and during that same year the team was also working on Cardcapto Sakura

I really do miss the old style. I think it just felt more gritty but i appreciate the decision to make the style simple. You have to think about that in animation.

I like the looks of the anime, jjk manga is great but i find the art to be really rough and sketchy a lot of panels have too much lines and rough shapes making kinda hard to look, i prefer a much more clean shapes and lines
A good comparison would be the fan made Sukuna versus Jogo arrow scene compared to how it’s shown in the s2 trailer, the fan made version seems to be a bit closer to s1 art style than s2😅

2:17 I have not read JJK yet but that image and a lot of others remind me a lot of Togashi's style.
He is a big fan of Togashi so that explains that
@@epnlvr9790 ahh makes sense, Togashi was the first artist I thought of when i saw his work!
This guy can find the needle in the haystack.
Can we get a One piece gear 5 analysis? Love your vids, great work 👍🏻
I still prefer season 1 and jjk 0 movie’s art style but that doesn’t mean anything is wrong with this new approach imo
@@carloscauan7967 season ones animation was solid though, and season four didn’t really have an excuse.
Please do this for chainsaw man! I really think Tatsuki Fujimoto's style is so refined and unique just like GeGe's and I'd love to see a researched video on his artstyle as well!
I miss the season 1 animation for real
S1 and JJK 0 were waaaay better. Itadori vs. Choso really underscored it.
It's still mostly the same staff, same animators as season 1 with a few new people involved. All that changed is Sung hoo park and the art style.
Been waiting for this bro
Im an aspiring mangaka and animator and yoir videos help a shit tonne, bless up🖤
Excellent
Rlly had no reason to watch this but I’m glad I did lol I don’t even kno what part sucked me in but this shit felt like it was teaching me something I could use which I’m definitely not gonna do😭
I really do miss the old style. I think it just felt more gritty but i appreciate the decision to make the style simple. You have to think about that in animation.
Oh i thought they made design much simpler to improve fighting scenes since the whole season will be alot of fighting. I didnt know they changed directors.
The director of s1 (sung hoo park )left the studio to start his own studio.
@@Ljay_outto be honest he has never been an employee of Mappa to begin with. It was just a freelancer that completely prioritized a single studio.
Kinda like shida for toei
@@lorenzorizzi864 yeh ik
@@lorenzorizzi864to think imo he does it better
I'm not the biggest fan of highlights in general so S2 is a delight to me
Specially with that character animation

I feel like i do really miss gojo in season one art style with the very strand hair and detailed clothing folds which for me made his character design better not to say season two gojo was any less good.. its just my opinion since that kind off made jjk's anime style more recognisable for me but season two is just as good and the character detail simplicity does give room for way better fight sequence animation so im not complaining
I did enjoy the silence!
respect
One video and im hooked
Found a channel to binge through🤤
Edit
There are mostly db videos😢
I like the looks of the anime, jjk manga is great but i find the art to be really rough and sketchy a lot of panels have too much lines and rough shapes making kinda hard to look, i prefer a much more clean shapes and lines
0:10 what’s the background music Shi hard ??
What is the background music the guitar solo at 2:57
Should be on the description just check each one to see
Tbh jjk doesnt have an artstyle in the anime its the iconic anime style.
Devilman crybaby got the simplest shading
it looks way better than the manga anyway
Would be nice if you reacted to some dokkan battle animations
A good comparison would be the fan made Sukuna versus Jogo arrow scene compared to how it’s shown in the s2 trailer, the fan made version seems to be a bit closer to s1 art style than s2😅
Because It looks like The manga panel but colored
Definitely got the FNAF reference. Nice 👍
EPIC
What kind of brushes do the animators use?? I want to create a similar effect but am unsure if its anything special [something that's not a simple round brush].
I personally prefer season 1 artstyle. But how the present characters are portrayed in Shibuya incident may change my mind
