A lifelong Who fan ever since I saw the Woodstock film in 1980 when I was 12 years old. I am an amateur musician, and a amateur Rock historian. The thing I tell everyone is this. This is the band that taught us what stadium rock is. Before them, the Beatles, The Kinks, Stones all had the same stage act. Plugged into 15 watt amps, and letting screaming girls drown out the music. These guys were the first one to stack up Marshall or hiwatt cabinets. The first one to use 50,000 watts of audio on stage. The first ones to blow out the eardrums of the crowd rather than being drowned out by them. The only band that played every Super Festival of the late 60s. Monterey Pop, Isle of Wight two or three times, and Woodstock. Never intimidated by playing to a crowd of hundreds of thousands. First ones to use a major Light and Laser display during their shows. When the Pontiac Silverdome was built, it was the biggest enclosed stadium in the world and the who was naturally the band to kick it off and play the first concert there.. First rock band who blew your face off live, rather than disappointing you with their live act and making you a fan of only their Studio stuff. Live at Leeds was the first live album that made you understand there's something about seeing a band Live that can never be replicated in the studio. That is their greatest contribution to rock. Forget smashing guitars and knocking over ants. Any Punk that's willing to buy new equipment can do that. But these guys are reason that the Golden Age of 1970s and 1980s Stadium Rock even existed.
Yeah the same for me first time I got a who record who's better greatest hits have been a constant in my life ever since something about there harmonies I just love them best band ever
@NoirL.A. the who was the first band to use the 50,000 watt setup that was a Mainstay all through the late 60s and 70s. The first band to use Argan lights, the first band to use lasers. Before Motorhead took the record in 1981, the who was listed by the Guinness book as the loudest band in the world. They truly were the first band to stack 4× 12 cabinets in rows. Jimi Hendrix even asked Pete Townsend about his amplification and bought his first Marshall amps in England because that's where they were made at the time. The who was the band that transitioned groups from plugging into Stage amps 50,000 watt public address sound systems.
@NoirL.A. I am confused. Are we talking about the quality of the albums, or the technical specifics of their sound systems and light shows? I guess I will repeat myself. When they went on their 68/69 American tour, they were the first rock band to take the 50,000 Watt Sound setup. They were the first one to stack marshalls. They were the first ones to use Argan lights synchronized to the music and later on lasers. They were the first ones to use remote soundboards for live concerts using Bob Pridden. When they were doing these things, other bands such as the Rolling Stones were still plugging in to stage amps, and using colored theater lights. The first band to break the 100 decibels sound level, and then later the 120 decibels sound level. Before the who toured america, equipment was transported in vans. After the who, equipment was transported in tractor trailers. They are doing this stuff in the late 1960s. By the time Led Zeppelin and Alice Cooper were doing this as you mentioned, we had gotten into the 1970s. The band was simply a huge step forward in the modernization of the technical aspects of live shows. I'm not talking about makeup and costumes and Stage performances. And I'm certainly not bouncing back and forth between quality of albums. I'm talking about the technical specifications and pushing that technology forward into the 1970s.
"Live at Leeds was the first live album that made you understand there's something about seeing a band Live that can never be replicated in the studio. " I'd vote for Having A Raveup by The Yardbirds. Or Got Live If You Want It by The Rolling Stones.
Actually, they weren’t a cover band, more like a “Tribute” band as they had the appearance of the members. They did a great job as a tribute band. I’d be in a cover band since members wouldn’t have to look like the originals. My late older brother and I used to cover all of the Who up until Who’s Next. At that time, he had his own band that was popular around the high schools where we lived. One big caveat, when we played, we didn’t have a vocalist, so we just covered the bass, drums and guitar. We were in junior high school when Tommy was released, we were young enough to ignore people who told us we couldn’t cover the Who do to our youth.
Saw the who at winterland san francisco. 1976 in college at Cal......small venue....top 5 shows of my life...probably #2...behind #1...Big Country...as surprising as that sounds......incredible show!....undescribable....honestly ..it took 2 days for my hearing to come back around.....ive seen them probably 5 times since but in outdoor large stadium venues....man...nothing comparrs to that winterland venue...intense!....this cover band is very good all around!.
I searched for an early live recording of Bargain and thought I had found one. Then upon seeing the Magic Bag logo realized this is a cover band. Regardless, these guys did a great job. Thanks for sharing.
yeah i'll give this a like. it's no SMALL FEAT replicating THIS particular era of THE WHO. well done !! (and this comes from a guy who really doesn't like clone bands). But I love the who more. so what can i say lol. extra props to the DRUMMA !!
Very nice job!! I loved Keith Moon the Loon and John E. His bass is still number 1 and this dude did a spot on job. Peter back in my days played like more anger and rage. Creative YOu guys if you haven't seen the Quadraphenia movie, and the Kids are Alright, and of course Tommy original movies , Best writer ever and band ever! You all did so wonderful!
Nice job guys 👍 I attended the Who live and would never have ball's to attempt to cover that song. Hat's off to you! Lots of respect to your hard earned efforts. I'm confident you will continue to "polish" your performance and enjoy the success you deserve.
Holy shit!!!!!!!!!!!! I took 10 double takes to see if that was Keith!!!!!!!!! The OX too!!!!! SHIT YEAH!!!! I'd say you friggin nailed it!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙌🤘
Impressive, I had to look twice. 😮 Look & act just like John & Keith, I noticed Pete didn’t look as much so but awesome job. Probably the closest cover look & sound alike band I ever seen that just happens to be my fav band ever. Great lyrics from The Who, Zep & Beatles made them legends!
I've been listening to the who for the last 30 years...during my teens I didn't listen to much else......this is so fucking amazing!!! Even the drum routine is pretty much spot on to the original....are you playing in Nottingham/Derby anytime soon? That was brilliant!!
no one can compare on the drums and in his life like Moon the Loon, and I hope to god he isn"t anything like him in behavior haha. but yeah he is very good. takes alot of strength and two petal power constantly!!
Brilliant as always. To this day I don't understand why Pete sabotaged his own tone chain. The Gibson guitar (SG, Deluxe) plugged into those amazing sounding Hiwatts was his best live sound. Never liked his Fender tone; can't understand why he changed it.
@@sirandrelefaedelinoge proof that he's deaf. It's probably a money thing...gets free stuff if he endorses Fender. I just prefer the raw Gibson tone versus that twangy strat sound...besides sound, he even looks better with a Gibson in his hands...

He said the Fenders were simply more reliable AND when they broke during a tour, he could do most of the repairs himself. Who are these guys and from where and and and??? Really great Keith Moon drumming. As a drummer doing The Who I found this helpful. Very accurate chops dude. Who are you...really???
I don't see how it couldn't BOTHER you or any of the other countless tributes that you only play songs by ONE BAND! I guess the demand to relive the good ole' days is just too great.
It's better than any post-Moon (1979-present) footage that I have ever seen.

Awesome guys favorite Who track and you nailed it just brilliant guys ! 🎸🎸🎸🎸👍
Do my eyes decieve me I've seen the Who and I love the Who, these guys are awesome!
If I were tripping right now, I would 100% believe that this was the actual Who. "John" and "Keith" look just like John and Keith!

There was a local tribute band “The Ohm”. Best alltime name
Same band; new name
Fabulous Job! And period correct faces too!
Everyone looks and sounds great. Looks like you settled for the Isle of Wight attire. Amazing.
Glued on watching Keith. One of the best Who songs.
I am not one for cover bands and the who are my 1st love in music but this is really good well done

The same for the drummer ! I can't bear Zak Starkey !
Omg the drummer is literally Moon
It took me half of the song to realize these guys are not The Who... haha I know, funny right?

This drummer does a phenomenal job portraying Keith Moon laid back. I imagine one would have to be extremely extroverted, or “loaded” to portray Moon.
good cover.

Wow!!!

Pete uses a capo on the second fret on this song. Otherwise really good
On the album there’s an acoustic with capo on the 2nd fret but I think live he played it a half step down on the electric
I haven’t seen anyone imitate Moon as good as this he’s better than Zak Starkey.
Wait... that wasn't Keith Moon on the drums..
Damn now this is a tribute band
Damm that's close .
OMGGGGGGG WHERE DID YOU FIND THXSSSS
if this was mixed right it would be great!
Is this the same group that did a live version of The Song is Over (and a really good one, too)?
I dare them to try Sparks.
