I loved the N64! I think the main issue keeping it from being more fondly remembered by more people was the fact we hadn't figured out the best way to handle 3d control. Golden Eye is a blast to play with a modern control and forcing the mapping off the odd run/strafe setup they did with the joystick and d-pad.
The most N64 Ego Shooter have the option to play Complete Moving with C Buttons and Aim with analog stick. It was my Favorite thing to Play. And its the Same in My Opinion the Better Option as Modern Shooters. Moving and Strafing with the C Buttons is very Easy an Intuitive.
I'm pretty sure that I cover this both in the text and in the video itself, there is nothing that will convert an NTSC signal to PAL and vice versa, at least at this time. I believe someone is working on an adapter but I don't know where it is in the development phase
I enjoy the N64 mainly for the racing games especially Wave Race 64, Mario Kart 64, Diddy Kong Racing, and Snowboard Kids 2. Some of the platforming is not as smooth as the 3D platformers of today but overall the N64 is one of my favorite consoles.
I bought one of these to play a PAL version of Worms, but it doesn’t work. It’s the only PAL game I have right now so I can’t test the converter, but it works for the US games on my US n64.
I open the cartridge and it looked well taken care of. I switch the back of the cartridge with a US cartridge so I could try it without the converter too. Nothing will make it run.
Just tried to play my PAL cartridge on NTSC console. And it doesn't work. And I actualy don't know where is the problem, with the converter or with my cart.
I have a question for you all. I have a US N64 but a lot of European games. I already exchanged the tray in the N64 so the games will fit. However the European games will still not play. Is there anything else I have to do? Thanks so much in advance.
So the tray allows you to play cartridges regardless of whether they are from Japan or the us. Anything from Europe is a PAL system and not compatible with NTSC which is what both the US and the Japanese versions use.
Sorry this is an old cid but wondering if you can help - any idea if this would fit into a Japanese console slot? From what I've seen of the adapter physically it doesn't look like it'd be an issue, couldn't see the cut outs like on a US cart, but trying to check.
It doesn't change anything that way. Some oak pal games will play on an NTSC system, but it would be no different than removing the PCB from the shell and inserting it into the system
I was thinking maybe a piece of foam adheasive tape (smal piece) like what they use for the airconditioners but smaller diameter could probably be used on the inside to eliminate the wiggle

Plus you get the advantage of having a few codes if you'd like. Not sure if there are perhaps some minor limitations to this, but I do this on my console to keep it original even though I've sold a few consoles that are region free modded. I'd be more interested in the later passports so they can play Pal games as well as NTSC, my original passport is fine though as well, sounds dumb, but I'd rather have old electronics at the same price than remade retro stuff. You should know this I love my N64, F-zero I master that game. I think that the "N64x" (Hyperkin HyperConvert) should only have a firm grip on the system itself but also should only have almost no wiggle room on the Carts themselves. Otherwise, I would get this right away. Also, I don't have any imports either.
No, this does nothing differently than changing out the insert inside the system itself. And it does not, neither option, will allow you to play pal games
I never owned a N64, and the only game for the platform I would get an actual console for is _Pokémon Puzzle League_ even though I’m not even good at the Tetris Attack/Panel de Pon series it’s based off of. The anime cutscenes look wonky when I try to run it on emulator.
I'm usually okay with hyperkin products but this one is kind of pointless to be honest. Since the region lock is based on a cartridge shell and not the game itself like the SNES was you can easily remove or mod the plastic piece around the PCB contacts in the console to be able to fit any cartridge in it and that cost $0.
It has a point for those who don't want to cut up their systems, but I think for what it does it's priced too high myself. When you think their Famicom to NES adapter, which does the same basic thing, is 1/2 the cost, that's an eyebrow raiser.
Instead of this you can melt down a pen make the writing part a bigger circle and use that to open the N64 and just cut the tabs with a sharp knife or tool . You will never notice you cut the tabs once put back together.I do recommend have the bits to open it makes it easier but this if you don’t want to spend any money.

You can't change the clock speed of a game without actual hardware, this is just a plastic adapter to get around the physical cartridge limitations. NOW, I will say that Hyperkin could/should put a disclaimer on their page/site about that this is for NTSC systems, I will agree there.
@@RoXolid the anger about this thing will go away, in the moment Hyperkin release the their new N64! ^^ Region free and in HD! More as a year is gone, and no Livesign! RELEASE IT!!!! ...
Here's hoping! I know they've been working on it for about 18 months at least at this point!!
@@RoXolid enough time to RELEASE IT!!! I think they reelase other stuff bevor, because nobody will buy the other stuff, when the new console is on the market
The N64 has been difficult to replicate/emulate. I'd rather have them take their time and get it right than rush it and have a sub-standard product.
Gameshark will do the same thing
Yes, but there are issues with the Gameshark potentially damaging systems too
25 is good price
I don't mean to be a bad person, but this review is kinda pointless if you didnt test a PAL region game.
I don't own any to test. Plus AFAIK the NTSC systems will not play PAL games
*you can buy a old fashion convertor and stick US cart at the back like the SNES days* 💡
I like the N64 but not the controller. If I play N64 games I play them on the Wii via the VC (I know its been discontinued) using a Gamecube controller. Much better.
The text on the box is false advertising. All it does is play jpn games on an usa system and vice versa. You cannot play pal games on a ntsc system, or ntsc games on a pal console. Thanks for showing the pcb.
that thing is useless for pal n64s
Correct. this is JUST for NTSC systems, either J or U
I bought this based on what it claims to do on the box, namely convert between regions. It's a complete scam, fraud, rip-off. It does nothing of the sort that it says... complete and utter BS
It adapts between regions is the better way to look at it, but it's between NTSC and NTSC-J. If you're looking for NTSC-PAL then no, this will not do that and there's nothing that will.
@@RoXolidYep, learned it the hard way :3 ... so since my last comment I now own both an NTSC and a PAL N64 :D
Everdrive 64. Worth its weight in gold. Regions dont matter.
Unless you actually want to connect physical games vs downloading ROMs from the internet.
