徳島県民謡「祖谷の粉ひき節」(西祖谷) "Iya no Kohiki Bushi"(Nishi Iya)

《祖谷の粉ひき節》は、日本の徳島県三好市祖谷地方に伝わる、徳島県の代表的な民謡です。
西祖谷と東祖谷で歌詞や旋律が異なる「粉ひき節」が存在しますが、全国的には西祖谷で歌い継がれてきた曲がプロの歌手にも頻繁に歌われるなどして有名になっています。
かつて祖谷地方では、麦、稗、蕎麦、大豆といった穀物を粉にしたものを主な食糧としていたため、女性が夜なべ仕事として粉ひきを行っていました。
昼間の重労働のあとに、石臼を回す作業を繰り返しているとどうしても眠くなってしまうため、眠気に負けないための仕事歌として歌われ、現在まで歌い継がれてきました。
Tokusima Folk Song [Iya Milling Song] (West Iya)
The Iya Milling Song is a popular folk song in Tokushima Prefecture. It has been passed down generation to generation in the Iya area of Miyoshi city in Tokushima. There are different Milling Songs in the West and East Iya areas. Each has different lyrics and tunes, however, the song in West Iya was sung by famous singers and became well known nationwide. In the old days, wheat, barnyard grass, buckwheat, and soybeans were the main food for people and used as flour. It was women’s work at night to mill them. It was tiring for them to turn the millstone, especially after they had worked hard all day, so they sang songs to shake off their sleepiness and to cheer themselves up. The song became a work song and has continued to be popular.
