    It's ironic because bodybuilders are actually pretty smart. The knowledge, dedication, & discipline it takes to build muscle...will never be attained by the employees policing this joke of a gym. I understand the appeal & the marketing campaign...but there is no need to insult people that you're clearly ignorant about. It's a judgement free zone in which they judge people with muscle...

    • @collingoat
      @collingoat 10 ปีที่แล้ว +44

      Eric Iholts LMFAO. How old are you child? You're shockingly ignorant. There is plenty of time in the day to work, learn, workout, eat, sleep...etc. If you think that going to the gym 5 days a week is taking away from valuable time in regards to intellect...you must be one of the dullest individuals on here. Read my comment over again...I took no offense to this commercial, nor do bodybuilders...I was simply pointing out how ironic the marketing campaign is LOL. Typing that book of a comment about things that you clearly know NOTHING about...makes you pathetically laughable. Thanks tho...try again.

    • @collingoat
      @collingoat 10 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Eric Iholts Just simply incorrect. I was not angry or offended in either comment...in fact I specifically said that. I think that reflects poorly on your comprehension skills.
      There was a study done in Ireland where subjects took tests...some after exercise & the rest after being stationary. Those who exercised scored better than the stationary group. The study concluded that exercising promotes higher levels of brain derived neurotropic factor which is a protein that promotes neuron health.
      Exercising itself cannot make you smarter but it promotes the healthy parts of life that influence learning. As concluded by this study. I still find it shocking that you think an hour a day, 5 days a week, is enough to hinder one furthering their education. I'm not saying bodybuilders are inherently smarter than anyone lol. I'm saying that assuming they're stupid is pure ignorance.

    • @collingoat
      @collingoat 10 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Eric Iholts "Exercising itself cannot make you smarter but it promotes the healthy parts of life that influence learning." -ME
      & somehow you got..." In short your comment basically stated that body builders are automatically smart because they work out and that is where your logic is flawes" -YOU
      It's like you didn't even read what I wrote if that's what you got from it.
      Here is the study: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21722657
      I'm not saying you need to exercise to be smart...BUT I am saying that just cause you exercise doesn't mean you're unintelligent.

      then you say...
      "you have has much wit as a bowel of shit" -mature.
      "are you drooling over your computer with an empty look in your eyes half way dead" -mature.

      Yeah because a gym single handed instituted binge eating and shoveling out bad crappy food for the whole country to get stuck eating as a means of dealing with the out of control population explosion since contraceptives appear to not exist to these people and has force fed all of America the fatty foods while telling them to eat at night, skip meals and eat junk food, and avoid moving as much as possible which for some reason would not prevent these people from going to their gym to sign up. Oh and I forget they are also mind controlling everyone to go to their gym, sign up and not work out as hard as the "real" gym people as not getting results from your exercise is a sure way to keep the members in. That makes perfect since. Not sure how they keep you a noobie considering that even without guidance every time you work out you gain a little more experience.
      HOW ARE YOU COMING UP WITH THESE CONSPIRACIES. I am a creative writer and I could not come up with such a corny theory. Note I am not ditching people who work out just those who can't keep their self righteous fitter than thou ideology to themselves and make people who don't look perfect feel like shit. You want to encourage people to work out stop yelling at them to stop going to a gym they are comfortable with. Maybe its not perfect but its an individuals responsibility to learn fitness as well as stick to a healthy diet and active lifestyle not PF or any other gym.

    I don't mind Planet Fitness from a fitness standpoint, it's great gym if you're looking for good cardiovascular training with the addition of light weights. Great gym for beginning weightlifters and those looking to remained toned rather than big.
    However, with that being said, I hate their business model. Making fun of those who want to be bodybuilders or those who are looking to gain size and strength is just flat out insulting. To have business slogan that states "Judgement Free" and yet judge those who are not your members and don't suit your business model is downright hypocritical.

      Exactly. There's a difference between having a cut physique and being fit. And don't get me started on powerlifters. Used to go to a gym that looked like it was straight out of a Rocky movie. There was this girl in there who had muscle, but she was also fat as hell. But she could deadlift like 400lbs. She'd get on the treadmill and do 1.5mph and act like she was about to die.

      Nav SB and Jennifer fit right into the PF mentality... judge those who love going to the gym and bust their asses every day to improve in their particular field of interest. The roided bodybuilders aren't healthy? No Nav, the lazy asses that eat pizza AT PLANET FITNESS and then walk 3 minutes on the treadmill aren't healthy. Jennifer, at least she is doing it and not judging you for being in there. If she wants to be a powerlifter, let her be. Maybe talk shit to her face and we'll see who fears they're about to die. Those powerlifters can throw a whiner across the gym -but they don't. It's class and respect. Maybe show them some.

    As others have stated, I completely understand the concept of Planet Fitness; going to the gym can be an intimidating experience, especially for newbies. However, their advertisements are grossly overdone to the point of being a huge contradiction. The company does not seem to understand that catering to "everyday individuals " does not mean you have to be dismissive of those of us who are more fitness oriented.
    Case in point, after working out one day at PF, I decided I would go to the locker room and check my weight. Much to my surprise, there was no scale present in the locker room, or anywhere else in the gym for that matter. When I inquired with the staff as to the reason for this, I was told that PF did not have scales in their gyms because they want their customers to be more concerned about the way they feel after working out, rather than focus on whether their workout is impacting any actual results.
    Uhhhhh, what?? Isn't that the purpose of working out?

    When I first heard about planet fitness and their $10 plan I was pretty impressed, and I actually signed up for the gym. I didn't know much about it at the time, but then I heard Joe Rogan talking about how you couldn't grunt in their gym's. I thought he was most likely misinterpreting their definition (or so what I assumed was their definition) of grunting such as like screaming at the top of your freaking lungs and throwing weights everywhere. I thought, "well yeah I guess I can understand, that might be intimidating to people just going in to get a simple 30-minute work out." And then I notice the giant sign on their fucking wall displayed for everyone defining a... "lunk." I thought to myself, "Is this definition not in itself discouraging people building muscle?" Then I start seeing these fucking commercials that can be taken offensively just as much as any other stereotype, "I'm big so that means I'm a brainless, narcissist jerk who just wants to make everyone feel like shit." Yet, that's bullshit because body building takes dedication and a strong mentality to get intense gains. It's bullshit because bigger, stronger people are almost always on the nicer side considering nobody ever has any reason to fuck with them plus they're tired most of the time from exercising anyways... and then they take out the squat rack.... it's almost like they've become a political establishment or someshit, or at least they're trying...

    I became a personal trainer in 1996 after i joined the gym for the first time in 1994 because i was only 26 and my waist was 48 inches and I my pants were getting tighter by the day. So i took my fat ass to the gym in April of 94 and by the end of that year I lost 105 lbs.I fell in love with bodybuilding and the gym became my church. And even though is true you get judged by others, but that happens everywhere you go, not just inside the gym. But i noticed that my main motivation was trying to look as good or better than the other members. Sometimes i went to the gym tired and unmotivated but once I saw other guys working out hard, i got the motivation to do the same. So even though, I like the name Planet fitness for a gym, their policy and motto is ridiculous and is actually opposite to what joining a gym means, which means trying to get in the best shape each individual can achieve by putting time inside the gym. Planet fitness advocates mediocrity for fitness!!!

Along with that they told me "you are in too good of shape to be here"... too good of shape?.. wtf? i am not a jacked guy, i am just very toned with dense lean muscle, so it confuses me how i am "in too good of shape". it is discrimination to reject someone from a gym solely on the way they look and if you support that you must support racial discrimination and american obesity, or you are one of the many fat asses i saw while i was there eating that pepperoni pizza.
